Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Spreading Wings

After escaping the Hyuga clan's ancestral hall, Boruto ran for a while before finally stopping. He looked around, making sure no one was following him, and only then allowed himself to relax.

"Momoshiki, do you think they noticed I absorbed half of that thing?" he asked.

"I don't know if they would notice, but you owe me a favor," Momoshiki replied.

"Huh? You let me absorb it, but I'm the one who owes you a favor!" Boruto protested. He paused, realizing that he only knew about the Byakugan aggregate because Momoshiki had told him. With half of the Byakugan aggregate now integrated into his own eyes, his power had increased significantly. Feeling that, Boruto felt a twinge of guilt and asked,

"So… what do you want?"

"You understand now," Momoshiki said, aware of Boruto's misunderstanding but unconcerned. The plan was proceeding as intended. He continued,

"Go tell your father that you want to visit Orochimaru to learn about Sage Mode. Once you're there, we'll separate the two of you."

"Okay," Boruto agreed. He wanted the separation as well; having Momoshiki's soul inside his body made him uncomfortable.

"Then move quickly. If you're late, I might change my mind," Momoshiki said, using reverse psychology to provoke Boruto.

"Fine, I'm going! Shadow Clone Technique!" Boruto shouted, forming the hand signs and summoning two Shadow Clones.

The clones immediately formed their hands into the Wind Release: Gale Palm technique. Boruto leaped, placing his feet on the chakra-concentrated palms of the two clones.

"Boruto Rapid Launch!" he shouted, propelled skyward by the wind chakra of the Gale Palm, heading for the Hokage Tower rooftop.

"Are you sure you'll land safely?" Momoshiki asked.

Boruto, startled by the height, screamed, "I didn't expect to go this high! At this rate, I'm going to leave a giant hole in the rooftop when I land!"

"Well, this is the perfect time to learn flight."

"You only just thought of teaching me now? You want me to fall to my death, don't you?"

"Don't worry. Time flows extremely slowly in the mental space, so teaching you won't take long."

"That's fine."

"Flying like the Otsutsuki is essentially releasing chakra. You need to connect your chakra to the outside and generate a counterforce."

"Just like that?"

"Yes."

"How am I supposed to practice? You haven't given me a single hint."

"At your current level of Otsutsuki transformation, you can't instinctively use it. Let me demonstrate. Once you feel it, you should be able to do it yourself."

"Alright."

Instantly, the diamond-shaped seal on Boruto's right hand expanded. He immediately entered the second stage of the Karma mark.

"Focus on the sensations in your body. You'll grasp it soon," Momoshiki instructed.

"Okay." Even though Momoshiki controlled Boruto's body, he still maintained his personal connection. As Boruto felt the new sensations, Momoshiki analyzed the link between Boruto's soul and body to ensure no mismatch would cause problems after his host adapted to the new powers.

"Do you feel it enough?" Momoshiki hovered in the air, not truly flying. They were above Konoha, and actual flight would draw too much attention. Moreover, it wasn't necessary; once Boruto mastered levitation, flight would naturally follow.

"Almost," Boruto replied, his mind buzzing. The concepts were explained casually by Momoshiki, but the technique's depth made Boruto feel like his brain was overclocked. Fortunately, he was a genius; a less sharp student might spend an entire day without understanding.

"Now try it," Momoshiki said, returning to the spiritual realm and leaving Boruto to practice.

"Ah! I'm not ready yet!" Boruto regained control of his body and began falling before he could react.

The translation preserves the author's voice, character personalities, and cultural nuances, keeps all names consistent, and eliminates em dashes. Boruto is fully humanized, and Momoshiki's guidance and psychological tactics are clearly conveyed.
