Emily stared at Alexander Knight as if he had just said the most ridiculous thing in the world.
"Wife?" she repeated, her voice trembling. "This isn't funny."
Alexander sat up slowly on the bed, completely calm, as though waking up next to a stranger was a normal morning for him.
"I don't joke about things like that," he said coolly.
Emily shook her head quickly. "No, no… this is impossible. We barely met last night!"
Her eyes dropped to the sparkling diamond ring on her finger again. Panic tightened in her chest.
"This must be some kind of mistake," she said, sliding off the bed.
Alexander watched her silently as she paced around the luxurious room, clearly losing control of her thoughts.
"Relax," he said. "Panicking won't change anything."
Emily turned to him sharply. "Of course I'm panicking! You're a billionaire and I woke up in your bed with a wedding ring!"
Alexander sighed slightly, then reached for something on the bedside table.
A piece of paper.
He handed it to her without a word.
Emily hesitated before taking it. Her hands trembled as she unfolded the document.
The words at the top immediately made her heart drop.
Marriage Certificate.
Her eyes moved quickly across the page until she saw the two names written clearly.
Alexander Knight.
Emily Carter.
The date was last night.
Emily's legs felt weak as she slowly sank onto the nearest chair.
"This… this can't be real," she whispered.
But the official stamp at the bottom proved otherwise.
They were legally married.
For the first time since waking up, Alexander's expression became slightly serious.
"I didn't expect things to turn out this way either," he admitted.
Emily looked up at him in disbelief.
"What exactly happened last night?" she demanded.
Alexander leaned back against the headboard, his dark eyes studying her carefully.
"You really don't remember?"
Emily shook her head slowly.
Alexander gave a quiet sigh.
"Well… you were the one who proposed the marriage."
Emily's eyes widened in pure shock.
"I did WHAT?"
