Chapter 39: A Family Reunited
The Royal Palace — On the Way to the Royal Council Chamber
A short while later, a car was waiting inside the Royal Palace. Queen Elizabeth, Obito, and Rin made their way toward it.
Rin was still holding the photographs of her parents. She kept looking at them again and again. Tears of happiness filled her eyes, and her heart was overflowing with hope that she would soon be reunited with her parents.
Countless questions filled her mind.
Had her mother and father really come to take her home? Would she be able to return home soon? Could she live with her parents again, just as she had before?
Obito looked at her and smiled.
"Rin! You look very happy today."
Rin nodded excitedly.
"Yes, Obito! I'm going to see my mom and dad. I've missed them so much. I just want to reach them as quickly as possible."
Obito smiled and replied, "I hope you can return home with them very soon."
Queen Elizabeth listened quietly to their conversation. She understood Rin's happiness, but her expression remained serious.
According to King Leon's instructions, it was necessary to verify Rin's parents' identities and confirm the truth of their statements. She did not want anything to spoil Rin's happiness, but the responsibilities of the royal family were equally important.
A short while later, the car arrived outside the Royal Council Chamber.
Queen Elizabeth stepped out of the car. Obito took Rin's hand and led her inside the building.
Rin walked quickly, unable to contain her excitement. There was only one thing in her heart: she wanted to see her mother and father as soon as possible and throw her arms around them.
The Royal Council — Waiting for Their Daughter
Meanwhile, Rin's parents had been seated in a separate room near the council chamber under the supervision of royal soldiers.
They had been waiting for their daughter for quite some time.
Rin's mother, Sara, kept glancing toward the door. Her anxiety was obvious, while her husband, Hiro, sat quietly with his fingers intertwined.
Finally, Sara asked anxiously, "Do you think our daughter is all right?"
Hiro held her hand.
"I'm sure she's fine. We just need to wait a little longer."
Sara's eyes filled with tears.
"I want to hold her in my arms again. I want to tell her how much we've missed her. I've thought about her every moment during these past days."
Hiro tried to comfort her.
"I want the same thing. We've searched everywhere for our daughter. Now that we've received news about her, we should remain hopeful that she'll be standing in front of us soon."
At that moment, they heard footsteps outside the door.
Both immediately looked toward it.
A royal soldier entered the room and spoke respectfully.
"You must appear before King Leon. Please come with me."
Hiro and Sara exchanged a glance.
Their hearts were filled with both happiness and fear. They knew they would have to answer questions about themselves before King Leon, but at that moment, the most important thing to them was seeing their daughter again.
They rose from their seats and followed the royal soldier toward the council chamber.
The Royal Council — The Family Reunites
Inside the grand and magnificent council chamber, King Leon sat on his royal throne. The Royal Captain stood nearby, while everyone awaited the arrival of Queen Elizabeth, Obito, and Rin.
A few moments later, Queen Elizabeth entered the chamber with Obito and Rin.
Rin immediately began looking around anxiously. She was desperately searching for her parents.
Queen Elizabeth gently placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Rin, don't worry. Your mom and dad are here."
Rin asked impatiently, "Where are they, Queen Elizabeth? I want to see them!"
King Leon turned toward the Royal Captain.
"Captain, bring them in."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
The Royal Captain walked toward the door and signaled to the soldiers waiting outside.
A few moments later, a man and a woman entered the chamber.
The moment Rin's eyes fell on them, she went completely silent.
It felt as though time itself had stopped.
Then tears of happiness filled her eyes.
"Mom! Dad!"
She immediately ran toward them.
When Sara heard her daughter's voice, she stopped in her tracks. She looked at the little girl standing before her—the daughter she had been longing to hold against her chest for what felt like an eternity.
"Rin!"
Sara immediately knelt down and opened her arms.
Rin rushed into her mother's embrace.
Sara hugged her tightly and kissed her head again and again.
"My child! My precious Rin! Where did you go? We searched everywhere for you! We were so worried about you!"
Rin clung to her mother, crying.
"Mom! I've missed you so much! I was so scared. I thought I would never see you and Dad again!"
Sara held her even more tightly.
"No, my darling! We could never forget you. You're our daughter, and we love you so much."
Hiro approached them as well. His eyes were filled with tears.
He gently placed a hand on his daughter's head and spoke softly.
"Rin, my little girl! You've finally come back to us."
Rin released her mother and looked at her father before immediately throwing her arms around him, too.
"Dad! Where were you? I was looking for both of you!"
Hiro embraced her and replied, "We were looking for you, too, sweetheart. We never forgot you."
Rin remained in her father's arms. The sadness and fear that had been building inside her seemed to fade little by little.
Everyone in the chamber watched the emotional reunion in silence.
Queen Elizabeth's eyes grew moist as well. Obito stood nearby, smiling. He was happy that his friend had finally found her parents.
However, King Leon remained serious.
He knew that the reunion of a parent and child was a moment of happiness, but as king, it was his responsibility to ensure that Rin would be returning to a safe home.
A few minutes later, Rin sat between her parents, and King Leon began the conversation.
The Royal Council — The King's Questions
King Leon spoke in a serious but calm voice.
"I'm glad you've been reunited with your daughter. I can understand how important this moment is for both of you. However, before we decide to send Rin home with you, I need to ask you a few questions."
Hiro respectfully bowed his head.
"Yes, Your Majesty. We're ready to answer whatever you wish to ask."
The king continued.
"First, what are your names? Where do you live, and what do you do for a living?"
Hiro answered, "Your Majesty, my name is Hiro, and my wife's name is Sara. We live in a small village called Khuram in the Kingdom of Humans. The village is located near the famous All Above Forest. I'm a farmer, and I work in agriculture."
As soon as he heard this, King Leon remembered an earlier conversation he had had with Rin.
He had once asked her what her father did for a living.
Rin had innocently replied, "I don't know."
She had also told him something else.
"He uses a computer and looks at the stars through a space telescope."
King Leon looked closely at Hiro.
"You say you're a farmer, but your daughter told us that you use a computer and observe the stars through a space telescope. Can you explain why a farmer would need such equipment?"
At this question, signs of nervousness appeared on Hiro's face.
He glanced at his wife for a moment before lowering his eyes and replying.
"Your Majesty, it's a personal interest of mine. I enjoy looking at the stars, so I bought a telescope. I also use the computer for personal purposes."
King Leon did not respond immediately.
He carefully studied Hiro's face. His answer seemed ordinary enough, but the nervousness he had displayed at the question raised new suspicions in the king's mind.
Was Hiro really just a farmer, or was he trying to hide an important part of his life?
The Royal Captain silently recorded their answers.
King Leon asked his next question.
"How did you become separated from your daughter? Tell me what happened that day."
Sara's expression changed immediately.
She looked at her daughter before turning toward the king.
"Your Majesty, that was the most terrifying day of our lives. We had come to the capital of the Kingdom of Humans to take care of an important matter. Rin was with us, but for a few moments, our attention shifted elsewhere, and then she disappeared from our sight."
Hiro continued the explanation.
"We searched the surrounding area. We asked people and visited different places, but we couldn't find any trace of her. We were extremely worried and had no idea where she had gone."
King Leon listened carefully.
"Did you contact the Royal Guards, local authorities, or the police?"
Hiro replied, "Yes, Your Majesty. We did everything we could to find her."
At this answer, King Leon's expression hardened.
He slowly rose from his royal seat.
"Are you certain that you contacted the police?"
Hiro answered immediately.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
The king's eyes narrowed.
He remembered that when Rin was being brought to the Royal Palace, he had instructed the Royal Guards to seek police assistance in finding her parents. However, Rin had refused to let them inform the police. At the time, King Leon had dismissed her request as the wish of a frightened child.
But now Hiro was claiming that he had contacted the police after Rin's disappearance.
A new question arose in the king's mind.
If the police had really been informed, why had no missing-person report for Rin been found at any police station in the kingdom?
This meant that Rin's parents were either hiding something from the king or lying to him.
Questions continued to multiply in King Leon's mind. Hiro's suspicious behavior and the contradictions in his statements deepened the king's doubts.
Finally, he decided that he would have to observe Hiro and Sara more carefully if he wanted to uncover their secret.
Suddenly, King Leon began releasing his powerful aura.
In the next instant, an overwhelming pressure filled the chamber. The atmosphere grew heavy, and everyone present felt the immense force of the king's power.
Hiro and Sara could not withstand the pressure. They collapsed to the floor in alarm.
Rin was horrified by what she saw.
"Mom! Dad!"
She tried to move toward her parents. Fear filled her eyes because she could not understand what had suddenly happened.
King Leon looked at Rin. Seeing the fear on her face, he immediately realized that the display of his power had frightened the child as well.
Queen Elizabeth quickly stepped forward and gently took Leon's hand.
"Leon, please stop. Rin is frightened."
The king looked at Rin again.
A few moments later, he withdrew his aura. The crushing pressure disappeared from the chamber.
Hiro and Sara took deep breaths and slowly regained their composure.
King Leon sat down again, but his gaze remained fixed on Hiro.
"I have no intention of punishing anyone without reason. However, lying inside the Royal Palace is a serious matter. If you've concealed anything important, it would be better to tell me now."
Hiro lowered his head.
Sara held Rin's hand tightly. Fear was clearly visible on her face, but she remained silent.
Rin looked at the king in distress.
"King Leon, they're my mom and dad. I know them. I want to go home with them!"
Her voice was pleading.
The sternness on King Leon's face softened slightly.
"Rin, I know you want to go with your parents. We don't want to upset you. But we must make sure that everything is as it should be and that you'll be safe."
Rin slowly nodded, although her anxiety was still obvious.
Queen Elizabeth spoke gently to her.
"Don't worry, dear. We'll make a decision soon."
The Royal Council — An Order to Investigate
King Leon turned toward the Royal Captain.
"Captain, verify all of Hiro and Sara's statements. Conduct a thorough investigation into the village of Khuram and the surrounding areas near All Above Forest. Contact the relevant authorities and find out whether any report was filed after Rin disappeared."
The Royal Captain respectfully bowed his head.
"Yes, Your Majesty. I'll begin the investigation immediately."
The king continued.
"I also want their residence, occupation, and available background information investigated. In particular, find out why Hiro uses a space telescope and a computer. If there's a reasonable explanation, we need to know what it is."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
The Royal Captain recorded all the instructions.
Hiro and Sara exchanged a glance. Their faces were filled with worry.
Sara held her daughter's hand and said, "Your Majesty, we love our daughter very much. We only want to take her home. We'll never let her out of our sight again."
Rin immediately looked at the king.
"King Leon! I want to go with Mom and Dad. I want to go home with them!"
King Leon replied gently, "Rin, we understand how you feel. You won't be prevented from spending time with your parents. However, until the investigation is complete, we must be careful."
Rin fell silent and moved closer to her mother.
Obito watched everything quietly. He could understand Rin's distress. He knew his friend wanted to return home with her parents.
Obito also wanted Rin to go home with them as soon as possible. However, he knew his father well. King Leon never made a decision in an important matter without first verifying the facts.
The king rose from his seat and addressed Rin's parents.
"For now, both of you will remain our guests at the Royal Palace. Until the investigation is complete, you'll be provided with accommodation and all the necessary facilities."
Hiro respectfully bowed his head.
"Thank you, Your Majesty. We appreciate your cooperation."
The king gave a brief nod.
"Our first priority is Rin's safety. I hope you both understand that."
Hiro replied, "Yes, Your Majesty."
However, the worry on his face had not disappeared.
The Royal Palace — A New Hope
After the council meeting ended, Queen Elizabeth led Rin and her parents to the guest residence in the outer section of the Royal Palace.
It was a spacious and beautiful building where members of the royal family and special guests stayed. The building contained comfortable rooms, elegant furniture, and all the facilities needed to accommodate visitors.
Queen Elizabeth took them to a comfortable room so Rin could spend some peaceful time with her parents.
As soon as they entered, Rin sat beside her mother and held her hand.
"Mom, will you take me home?"
Sara looked lovingly at her daughter's face and smiled.
"Yes, my darling. That's why we came—to take you home."
Rin's father gently stroked her head.
"And this time, we won't let you feel alone."
Rin hugged them both.
At that moment, the fear in her heart seemed to fade little by little. She had spent so many days missing her parents, and now they were finally right in front of her.
For her, that was the greatest happiness of all.
Standing near the door, Queen Elizabeth watched them with a smile.
"Please make yourselves comfortable. If you need anything, the royal servants will be happy to help."
Sara expressed her gratitude.
"Thank you very much, Queen Elizabeth. You've taken care of our daughter. We'll never forget your kindness."
The queen replied gently.
"Rin is dear to us, too. We want her to always be happy and safe."
With that, the queen left the room.
After the door closed, Rin sat between her parents and began telling them about the days she had spent in the Royal Palace. She told them about Obito, Queen Elizabeth, and King Leon as well.
Hiro and Sara listened quietly. They were happy to see their daughter again and paid close attention to everything she said.
Sara glanced at Hiro.
Their eyes met, and they exchanged a silent signal.
Rin continued happily telling her parents stories about the Royal Palace, completely unaware of their brief exchange.
But Hiro's mind kept returning to King Leon's questions.
He had realized that hiding their true circumstances was now going to be more difficult than ever.
The Royal Palace — A Hidden Secret
Night began to fall.
Inside the guest residence, Hiro stood alone near the window, looking outside. The lights of the Royal Palace shone in the darkness.
Slowly, he took a small device out of his pocket.
A blue light glowed from its surface.
Hiro stared at it for a few moments before quickly closing his fist around it.
Concern was clearly visible on his face.
"King Leon's questions were far more difficult than we expected," he said quietly.
At that moment, Sara entered the room. Her eyes immediately fell on the device in Hiro's hand.
"Do you think he's found out about it?" she asked anxiously.
Hiro shook his head.
"Not yet. But if the Royal Captain reaches Khuram and begins investigating there, we might not be able to keep it hidden much longer."
Sara glanced toward the door before speaking in a low voice.
"We have to take Rin home. I don't want to lose her again."
Hiro looked at his wife.
"I want that, too. But we must be very careful. One more mistake in front of King Leon could make our situation much worse."
Both fell silent.
They knew that being reunited with their daughter was the happiest moment of their lives. However, the king's suspicions had created a new problem for them.
Meanwhile, elsewhere inside the Royal Palace, King Leon was also thinking about the matter in his private chamber.
He remained suspicious of Hiro's nervousness, his vague answers, and his claim that he had reported Rin's disappearance to the police.
He had already made up his mind that he would not allow Rin to leave the Royal Palace until the truth came to light.
But he did not yet know that Rin's parents' secret was far more complicated than the disappearance of a little girl.
Rin had been reunited with her family, but the truth about her parents remained hidden.
Hiro's computer, space telescope, and mysterious blue-glowing device all pointed toward a secret he wanted to keep from the royal family.
And perhaps that secret was connected to a truth that could change not only Rin's life but the future of the entire Kingdom of Humans.
