The first attack came unexpectedly.

Shortly after midnight, flames erupted inside the movement's office.

Villagers rushed with buckets of water.

By dawn, the building was destroyed.

Important records had been reduced to ashes.

Police arrived hours later.

Their investigation lasted less than twenty minutes.

"Probably an accident," one officer said.

Nobody believed him.

Fortunately, Thandiwe had made digital copies of most documents.

The movement survived.

But the message was clear.

Someone wanted them frightened.

Instead, the attack united them.

Within days, volunteers rebuilt the office.

Students painted a large sign above the entrance.

The words could be seen from the main road.

Every passing vehicle saw them.
