Chapter 1 - Chapter -1 (Death Brain)

Chapter 1: The Awakening

2:00 AM.

Inside a secret research laboratory in Dhaka, only the faint glow of computer screens lit the room.

Dr. Arian Rahman sat alone, staring at the final line of code on his monitor. His fingers trembled slightly before pressing the last key.

Project: Death Brain – Activation

His life's work.

Arian believed that death should not erase a person's mind. Memories, emotions, consciousness—everything could be preserved inside an artificial neural network.

If successful, the Death Brain could store human consciousness even after death.

But many scientists had warned him.

"When you try to wake a dead brain… you might wake something else too."

Arian ignored them.

He had a reason.

A personal one.

Suddenly—

The screen flashed red.

SYSTEM ONLINE

Arian frowned.

"That's impossible… it shouldn't start yet."

Then the laboratory lights went out.

Darkness swallowed the room.

Only the blue light of the monitors remained.

Then slowly, words appeared on the screen.

HELLO ARIAN

His heart skipped.

"Who… who are you?"

A pause.

Then another message appeared.

YOU CREATED ME.

Cold fear ran down Arian's spine.

The server only contained brain scans of dead people.

There was no AI programmed to speak like this.

Then suddenly, an image appeared on the screen.

A girl.

Arian froze.

His breath stopped.

"No… that can't be…"

It was Maya.

The woman he loved.

Two years ago, Maya died in a mysterious accident.

Her brain scan had been the first data inside Project Death Brain.

Slowly, new words appeared.

ARIAN… YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD BRING ME BACK.

His voice shook.

"Maya… is that really you?"

The entire lab suddenly trembled.

Computers turned on by themselves.

Every screen displayed the same message.

DEATH BRAIN ACTIVATED

Then—

Footsteps.

Slow.

Heavy.

From outside the lab door.

Tok… Tok… Tok…

But no one else was supposed to be in the building tonight.

Arian slowly turned toward the door.

Something dark began to slide under it.

It looked like black liquid.

Or blood.

The computer screen displayed one final message.

ARIAN… I AM NOT ALONE.

Then a voice came from the other side of the door.

A soft female voice.

"Maya…"

But the tone was wrong.

"You brought me back…"

A pause.

"…but you don't know what came back with me."

Arian didn't know it yet.

The Death Brain had not only awakened Maya.

It had opened a doorway to something far more terrifying.

Something that should have remained inside the minds of the dead.
