Chapter 10 - Middle of danger

The train continued rushing forward, cutting through the quiet countryside.

Inside the carriage, everything seemed normal. Passengers chatted quietly, some dozed off, and the steady rhythm of the train echoed through the metal walls.

But something felt… off.

He noticed it first.

A group of men standing near the end of the carriage. They weren't sitting like the other passengers. Instead, they watched everyone carefully, whispering among themselves.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

Across from him, the familiar traveler noticed his gaze.

"You see it too?" she asked quietly.

He nodded once.

"Something's wrong."

Just then—

The train suddenly jerked.

A loud metallic sound echoed through the carriage as it slowed down sharply.

Passengers looked around in confusion.

"What's happening?" someone asked.

Then one of the men stepped forward.

"Everyone stay where you are!"

His voice was loud and cold.

Another man locked the door between the train cars.

A wave of fear spread across the passengers.

"What do they want…?" someone whispered.

The familiar traveler leaned forward slightly.

"Well," she muttered, "looks like we walked straight into trouble."

But he didn't look scared.

Instead, his eyes moved calmly across the carriage.

Counting.

Observing.

Analyzing.

Three near the door.

One by the aisle.

Another watching the back.

The situation formed perfectly in his mind like pieces of a puzzle.

Danger.

Right in the middle of it.

And for the first time since leaving home…

His boredom completely disappeared.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

Because sometimes—

The fastest way to understand the world…

Was to step directly into danger.
