Lexianna, Arkin, and Koa went back to the big stone palace. The carriage ride was very quiet. Arkin was awake now. The bad magic dust was completely gone from his chest. He was still a little bit weak, and his face looked a bit tired, but he could walk on his own two feet. Koa walked right beside them, looking neat and clean in his green clothes.
They had made a promise to each other. They promised to be nice. They promised to share and take good care of Lexianna because of the little baby growing in her tummy.
But as soon as they walked through the giant front doors of the palace, the nice promise turned into a very silly game. They did not fight with fire or ice magic. They did not punch each other. Instead, they fought over who could be the very best helper in the whole wide world. They both wanted Lexianna to like them the most. They wanted to win her love.
