Chapter 39 - chapter:39 Makarov nodded

One of his aliases, "Orange Leech," likely came from his unique ability to passively drain energy. His mere presence siphoned magic from those around him, weakening long-range attacks and quickly exhausting close-range opponents. Combined with his skill in hand-to-hand combat and an impressive track record, it was no surprise that many considered him S-Class material. But what stood out the most was his sealing ability—the very technique he had used to render Brain incapable of using magic. The Magic Council had assigned a team of expert scholars to analyze the seal, but despite their knowledge of ancient languages, they could only confirm that the markings originated from the Eastern Kingdoms. Even the most fluent linguists in Eastern dialects struggled to decipher its full meaning. It was clear—Naruto Uzumaki's abilities were unlike anything they had encountered before. Makarov leaned back in his chair and exhaled, deep in thought. Then, without warning, a gust of wind swept through the room. A man clad in a black robe and bandages appeared before him—Mystogan, one of Fairy Tail's S-Class Wizards. "What do you think of him, Mystogan?" Makarov asked, setting the report aside. Mystogan remained silent for a moment before answering. "He's an impeccable wizard… but as the records suggest, even I don't recognize the language he uses from his sealing formulas, even from our world's standards. It's safe to assume he came from another world different from our's." Makarov nodded. "There are barely any records of him before his arrival at Cait Shelter. His skills have drawn a lot of attention, and whether he's an ally or not…" His eyes lingered on the blonde's official records. "I believe he's a good person, Master," Mystogan said, his voice steady. "I wasn't exactly following him, but I happened to cross paths with him and his team on a few occasions." Makarov shifted his gaze to Mystogan, noticing the sentimentality in his eyes—not directed at Naruto himself, but at the young girl under his care— Wendy Marvell. "You vouch for him, then?" Makarov asked. Mystogan gave a respectful nod. "Very well," Makarov sighed. "I've seen him with my own eyes. He doesn't seem to bear any ill will toward Fairy Tail, but given my position, I'll have to keep an eye on him—make sure he stays out of trouble." "You have my thanks, Master." As Mystogan exited Makarov's office, he glanced downward, spotting the blonde happily devouring a bowl of ramen. Then, with a gust of wind, the S-Class Wizard vanished without a trace. Fairy Tail, Magnolia - Year X784 Naruto slurped up another mouthful of ramen, his face glowing with satisfaction as the warm broth filled his stomach. Across the guild hall, the sounds of laughter, clinking mugs, and occasional brawls filled the air—it was just another lively evening at Fairy Tail. "Is it just me, or have you eaten nothing but ramen since you joined?" Naruto glanced up mid-bite to see a woman carrying an entire barrel of liquor as if it weighed nothing. Cana Alberona, Fairy Tail's resident drinking champion, chugged another gulp straight from the barrel before wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. Naruto swallowed and grinned. "Meh, I should ask you the same, Cana. You should try ramen for once instead of drowning in booze all the time." Cana scoffed, plopping herself onto the seat beside him. "Tch. Alcohol is liquid courage. Ramen is just fancy noodles." "Fancy noodles? Fancy noodles?!" Naruto gasped as if she had just insulted his entire bloodline. "Cana, you don't understand! Ramen isn't just food—it's a way of life! A bowl of good ramen can warm your soul and heal your troubles!" Cana raised an eyebrow before taking another swig. "Yeah? My liquor does the same thing. Besides, if ramen was so magical, I wouldn't see you sulking when we run out of pork broth." Before Naruto could argue, a new voice joined in. "You guys really need to tone down your habits. I worry about your livers." A petite, blue-haired woman with glasses sat across from Naruto, her hands resting on the table. Levy McGarden, one of Fairy Tail's bookworms and resident voice of reason, eyed them both disapprovingly. Naruto groaned. "Ugh, not you too, Levy. You sound like an old lady." Levy adjusted her glasses with a smirk. "And you sound like a junkie in denial." Cana laughed. "Oh, he totally is. I bet if someone took away his ramen for a week, he'd start going through withdrawal." "Ramen is love, ramen is life," Naruto said solemnly, earning an eye-roll from Levy. "I swear, you and Cana are hopeless." She turned to the nearby counter, where Mirajane Strauss, Fairy Tail's white-haired beauty and bartender, was calmly wiping a glass. "Mira, please stop supplying him with ramen. You're feeding his addiction." Mirajane simply smiled, resting a hand on her cheek. "Ara But why would I do that? I haven't seen anyone enjoy my cooking this much in years" Naruto gave a thumbs-up. "See? Mira gets it." Levy groaned while Cana just laughed, downing more liquor. "Fairy Tail's got the weirdest cast of people," the card mage muttered, shaking her head. "And that's what makes it— the best." Naruto burped, raising his bowl triumphantly, finishing it thoroughly. "Mira another load please!" "Kay~" replied by the white haired lady. Cana continuously chug a barrel worth of liquor. Levy sighed. "At this rate, both of you are gonna need medical intervention one day." Returning from another successful mission, the guild doors swung open as Wendy Marvell and Carla—the latter in her human form—stepped in. Wendy looked bright and energetic as always, while Carla carried her usual refined composure. Naruto, sitting comfortably at his usual spot with a bowl of ramen, glanced up and smirked. "Oh, you two have been handling things on your own quite well lately," he remarked, his tone even but approving. Wendy perked up. "We did our best! The mission went smoothly thanks to Carla's planning!"
