Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Template System

Character: One Piece – Admiral Kizaru

Fusion Rate: 9%

In Shimura Kizaru's mind, a three-dimensional virtual figure appeared—a familiar, slightly shameless-looking character in a yellow suit and sunglasses.

This was the cheat-like System he had awakened after arriving in the world of Naruto.

In order to speed up the fusion rate, he had even gone so far as to change his name from Shimura Morishin to Shimura Kizaru, personally asking Danzō to have it altered in the clan registry.

Well, that, and he genuinely didn't like the name "Morishin." It sounded like someone had just slapped random syllables together and called it a day.

Of course, this kind of behavior was nothing short of rebellious.

If an ordinary brat said that kind of thing—"I don't like my name, change it"—they'd have been dragged in front of the clan elders and "educated" according to clan rules.

But geniuses… geniuses always came with privileges.

Once Kizaru had shown talent so frightening it could only be called monstrous, changing his name had become a trivial matter.

As long as he didn't change his surname, it was fine. In fact, the elders had practically waved the matter through.

Those were the exact words of the three elders who oversaw the clan's internal affairs.

As for why Danzō hadn't handled it personally?

Simple—this was "too small a matter" to bother the clan head.

A genius was the hope of every clan. And Kizaru's strength and talent were far beyond the level of a mere "genius."

Monster.

That was how the Shimura clan described Kizaru in private. There was nothing derogatory in it—only genuine awe and resignation.

In the eyes of the clan, Danzō was already a long-running "investment project" whose growth room was nearly exhausted.

Kizaru, however…

Kizaru was the new unicorn project, something the entire clan could pour their expectations and sweat into without hesitation.

That was also why Danzō's attempt to drag Kizaru into Root had failed.

Even as Hokage's assistant and head of the Shimura clan, he couldn't go against the collective will of the clan. Not unless he wanted to truly stand alone—cut off from his own people.

The Ninja Academy's entrance trials had come to an end.

After Kizaru displayed his terrifying strength and talent, every other freshman's performance became little more than background noise.

Even among this year's new students—such as the heirs of the Ino–Shika–Chō clans, or the future Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato—not one of them could steal the spotlight from him.

It wasn't that they were weak, or that their potential was poor.

It was simply that Kizaru's performance was too dazzling and somewhat abnormal.

The Shimura clan had produced a monster-like genius—someone with the potential to become a future pillar of the village.

With just one entrance selection, Kizaru had already begun to cement his reputation in Konoha.

The direct benefit of that was simple: the fusion rate of his character template, which had been inching along for three months, suddenly began to soar.

In just half a day, the fusion rate ticked up from 9% to 10% and it was still rising.

In the Shimura compound, Kizaru lived alone in a modest residence with a simple little courtyard.

Sitting on the tatami, he leisurely sipped hot tea. When the fusion percentage finally hit 10%, he quietly set the cup down.

He straightened his posture a little. For once, his usual lazy aura faded, and genuine excitement flashed across his face.

Reaching 10% fusion had unlocked something new.

That was why he was excited.

Before the fusion rate hit 10%, all Kizaru had gained was Admiral Kizaru's physical potential—the foundation, the body, the capacity.

But now… he had gained the Devil Fruit ability.

The Glint-Glint Fruit from One Piece had always been one of his favorite abilities in his previous life. Attack, defense, mobility, escape—it could do everything.

A perfect all-purpose kit.

He braced his left hand against the tatami, leaned back slightly, and raised his right hand.

On his extended index finger, a golden radiance flickered into existence.

The light was piercing. It gathered and compressed, more and more, until it finally burst forth as a concentrated beam—a laser fired straight from his fingertip.

The laser pierced through the sliding door in front of him and struck the ornamental rockery in the center of the courtyard.

Boom!

The sound echoed through the compound.

The rockery, which had been carefully crafted by skilled artisans, instantly exploded into countless fist-sized chunks that scattered across the ground.

The sudden noise alarmed many of the clan members. A moment later, a Shimura jōnin responsible for Kizaru's protection arrived at the door in a blur, using the Body Flicker Technique.

This was the first time the Shimura jōnin assigned to guard him had seen such a scene. After confirming that Kizaru was uninjured, he quietly let out a breath of relief and turned his gaze toward the ruined courtyard.

"Kizaru-sama, what happened just now?"

Shimura Isshin—one of the twelve jōnin of the Shimura clan—had been assigned to Kizaru by Danzō specifically as his bodyguard.

Kizaru's father in this life, Danzō's younger brother, had been an elite jōnin who died on a Root mission.

Danzō himself had no children. As the son of his younger brother, Kizaru was the Shimura clan's direct bloodline and the natural heir to the position of clan head.

After Kizaru had shown extraordinary talent at a young age, the clan had simply made it official: he would be the next patriarch of the Shimura.

With a decision like that, even Danzō couldn't object. It carried the full weight of the clan's hopes for the future.

Kizaru rose from the tatami, adjusted his clothes slightly, and walked over to Isshin.

"Uncle Isshin, don't worry. That commotion just now was caused by me."

Hearing this, Shimura Isshin relaxed a little—but his eyes were now filled with confusion as he stared at Kizaru.

Kizaru didn't explain immediately. Instead, he looked toward the courtyard gate.

Outside the gate, the three elders of the Shimura clan and Danzō—who also happened to be home at the time—were making their way in together.

First, they glanced at the rockery that had been reduced to rubble, then shifted their gazes to Isshin and Kizaru standing at the doorway.

When Kizaru saw everyone suddenly "spawn" around him out of nowhere, he couldn't help feeling a little speechless.

What kind of NPC behavior is this supposed to be?

Were they all this idle? The moment he showed a new ability, they'd rushed over like a pack of dogs catching the scent of meat.

What kind of novel setting is this…?

Kizaru felt a flicker of unease. Are they about to pull the classic "this child is too dangerous, we must control him" routine on me?

"Isshin, what happened?" Danzō asked with a frown.

Having no idea, Isshin stayed silent and simply looked toward Kizaru.

Seeing that reaction, the four newcomers immediately understood that the earlier explosion had been Kizaru's doing. All eyes turned to the boy.

"What a pain…" Kizaru sighed under his breath. He was just about to explain.

Kizaru had no intention of hiding his Devil Fruit ability. Just like when he was three years old and had actively shown off his talent, he'd already decided how he would live.

In the world of Naruto, in Konoha, in a major clan like the Shimura, hiding his abilities would have been the height of stupidity.

In this dangerous shinobi world, the mediocre existed to be cannon fodder. Only geniuses had the right to be protected and nurtured.

If he hid his strength and pretended to be average, he would only be cast aside earlier—treated as a disposable pawn.

Only by showing his talent and being recognized by the clan as a true genius could he earn the right to be trained and guarded.

Ever since his talents had been revealed at age three, the special treatment he'd received from the clan had proven that his choice was absolutely correct.

Right in front of everyone, Kizaru raised his right hand again. He extended his index finger, golden light gathered at its tip, and another laser shot forward, blasting open a fresh crater in the courtyard.

Seeing this, Danzō's expression finally wavered. A rare look of shock crossed his face. The elders behind him, meanwhile, were openly delighted.

Because their smiles were so wide, the wrinkles on their faces seemed to deepen even more. At that moment, the three elders looked like they were about to laugh themselves into a stroke.

For people whose lives were already nearing their twilight years, what could be more joyful than the birth of a clan genius like this?

"Kizaru-kun, is this a ninjutsu you developed? Or…?"

One of the elders spoke up, trailing off halfway through the sentence. He stared at Kizaru with eyes full of hope.

"Compared to ninjutsu, I think it's more appropriate to call it a Kekkei Genkai," Kizaru said, giving the answer the elder wanted most.

The old man's smile grew even brighter. The great elder quickly walked up to Kizaru, grabbed his raised right hand with both of his, and held onto it tightly.

"How long have you known you could do this?" the great elder asked eagerly.

Kizaru made a show of thinking it over. After a moment, he answered:

"Probably… after beating that Uchiha."

'Sorry, Uchiha-kun~ but it's completely fair for a Shimura to blame everything on you guys, you know~.'

Hearing that, Danzō's eyes gleamed with a dangerous light. He couldn't help wondering whether he should send some Root shinobi to go "test" a few Uchiha and see what happened.

"Although it makes me very happy, it's also a bit confusing…" another elder said slowly.

"Since when did our Shimura clan have a Kekkei Genkai like this?"

This speaker was a slightly plump old man with a wealthy look; he was in charge of managing the clan's businesses and funds.

The great elder, still clutching Kizaru's right hand, quickly turned to look at him and gave him a "kindly" smile.

"You ignorant old fool," the great elder said, sounding utterly confident. "The clan records clearly state that our ancestors possessed a Kekkei Genkai called Light Release."

The third elder, who had been silent until now, hurriedly chimed in:

"That's right! Our Shimura clan is a clan with a bloodline limit!"

Watching these two shameless fossils improvise on the spot, even Danzō—Konoha's so-called "Darkness"—felt his face heat up.

No wonder the great elder was so quick on the uptake.

It was certainly a blessing for the clan to have such a genius… but a talent this absurd could also bring danger.

Between "a genius who awakened a long-lost Kekkei Genkai" and "a freak who invented a brand-new Kekkei Genkai," the former was much easier for outsiders to accept.

So after hearing Kizaru's answer, the great elder had immediately hammered down the narrative: Kizaru's ability was the reawakening of an ancient Shimura Kekkei Genkai—one that only appeared once in many generations, practically a miracle.

This was a shield. A layer of protection for Kizaru… and for the clan.

"…"

Kizaru's lips twitched.

Light Release, huh? It'd honestly be more believable if it were Dark Release…

He sighed helplessly, but deep down, he felt strangely relieved.

After all, he wasn't the fully-powered Admiral Kizaru from One Piece yet.

He was still just a "boy."

And like this… at the very least, he wouldn't suddenly end up treated like some caped alien psycho.

He couldn't exactly become Homelander in the Naruto world.
