MUTANIC KAIJUS
CHAPTER 3
Deep in the forest.
A herd of antelopes sprint through the foliage, fear in their eyes. A pair of
bright golden eyes pierce through the darkness. An abnormal roar shakes the
silence. Hydrion, larger than before gives chase like a true predator.
Hydrion: How
insulting. I'm made to chase my own dinner.
he jumps sky high
.one antelope slows, looking back. not seeing Hydrion, it stops. Hydrions
shadow covers it. it looks up… and loses its head. Hydrion stands behind,
gripping the head with its spine still attached, then smashes it with his jaws,
chewing and swallowing. the other antelopes freeze in horror.
Hydrion (showing
claws): Run!
the deer scatter.
Hydrion's inner
voice: did they really have to go in different directions?
Hydrion: not to
worry. I'll hunt them all down.
Hydrion's inner
voice: get over with it already.
Hydrion: just shut
up and watch me. (runs, sniffing) now, where did they go… got you. (runs
faster)
as the antelopes
think they've escaped, Hydrion appears swiftly. one falls, its throat bit by
Hydrion, it struggles and dies. the other three antelopes freeze. Hydrion
feasts.
Hydrion(rising):
which of you tastes better
One deer tries to
escape. It dodges Hydrion's attack, but he grazes its limb. It hides,
trembling, hearing footsteps… Hydrion is in front of it.
Hydrion: I'm kind of
impressed. you were able to dodge that. (turns) I'll kill you another day. make
sure you're still alive till then.
the antelope sobs
silently. Hydrion catches the remaining two. he jumps, lands on one, smashes
its face, and devours it. the last deer charges in rage.
Hydrion: stupidity
the deer shatters
into six pieces along it's head to it's tail.
Hydrion: anyway…
He continues
feasting the heads to a lake, freshens up then climbs a mountain where He Howls
abnormally loud
Hydrion's inner
voice: shut up
Hydrion: it's too
quiet here,
Hydrion's inner
voice: don't worry, they'll come find us
He runs down
mountain
The sun rises...
Tybeast wakes with
bloody lips beside Leniel, whose blankets are a little soiled in blood
Leniel wakes up and steps on a bone which he sees more
brought by Tybeast but by the looks of things it isn't chicken
Leniel: are you serious
Tybeast: couldn't help myself
Leniel just brushes and heads down Ms. Kelinza not
present,
Leniel: must still be asleep
Leniel cooks breakfast for her just like she does, Ms.
Kelinza heads down and sits
Ms. Kelinza: something smells good
Leniel serves her
Ms. Kelinza: thanks for the meal
Leniel: if you need me, I'll be at Nayoka's home
Ms. Kelinza: did you take a shower at least
Leniel: I did that last night before bed for today
Ms. Kelinza: it doesn't work that way
Leniel: I don't stink okay
Ms. Kelinza: eventually you will
Leniel (leaves): I'll see you later this afternoon
Ms. Kelinza: sure, take care
Leniel gets to the entrance of Nayoka's home and: enters. the entire group is present
Kotan: Leniel,
you're 26 minutes late. even though your house is closest.
Midas: hey, why did
you bring any snacks along?
Leniel: no
Midas: not even some
biscuits?
Leniel: no
Kotan: anyway, shall
we begin?
Fiona: begin what
exactly?
Kotan: didn't Kaya tell
you guys?
Kaya: tell them what?
Kotan: Leniel?
Leniel: Leniel what.
Kotan: why do I even
bother…
Kaya: just tell us
what we're doing.
Kotan: that was Leniel's
job!
Leniel: I remember something
about the school's festival
Kotan: yes! I
remember now.
Kaya: so, you forgot…
Kotan: no, I didn't!
kaya: just get on
with it.
Kotan: anyone got
ideas?
Midas: video games?
Kotan (writing):

Fiona: candy
Kotan (writing): food joints
Kaya: ...fireworks
Kotan (writing):

Midas: wow... her
word's final huh
Kotan: give better
ideas
Kotan: what about
quizzes
Midas: you're boring
as hell, no!
Kaya: what about
class competitions
Kotan: yes
Midas: same thing,
different words
Midas grabs a pad
and tosses one to Leniel and they play video games on Nayoka's TV
Kotan: we aren't
done yet, we still have to set everything and prepare
Midas: just a sec
Leniel....
Nayoka: I'll play
next
They play a football
game and after a few seconds Kotan, Fiona and kaya find themselves watching the
rising challenge
Midas scores first
and Leniel equalizes and goals keep raining
Kaya: they're both
good
Kotan: guess adding
video games wouldn't be a bad idea
Fiona: go Midas, win
this
Leniel scores again
and again creating a 3-goal gap between them
Kaya: what the...
Midas pauses and
takes off his shirt and Fiona sits Infront of him, he sits behind her, very
close with his chin on her neck and his legs crossing hers and his arms around
his arms
Kaya: aww
Kotan: how's that
gonna help
Midas: lets play
They continue and
Midas equalises as he sniffs Fiona's hair and bites her
Fiona: let's just
say I'm his fuel
The scores are in a
tie and before Midas could shoot the ball the game ends.
Scores; 7:7
Midas: still a thorn
in my back
Leniel: you're as
annoying as ever
Kotan: have you guys
played before
Nayoka: more than I
can count, Leniel's won more
Kotan: how about we
create a league for the 6 of us, so every time we gather, we can play
They do so and play
a little more and by the time they realise it's pass midday, they begin leaving
Kotan: we'll
continue this tomorrow
Midas: yeah, yeah
let's go
Fiona: coming
Kaya: those two are
something else
Kotan: I guess
Nayoka: Leniel, wait
up
As Nayoka offs the
TV he stares at the table with Leniel first losing no match, then Midas losing
one game to Fiona, the Fiona third then Nayoka, Kaya and then Kotan
Nayoka escorts
Leniel back home
And they meet a girl
casually dressed, Florencia.
Florencia: um, hi…
Leniel: I think
she's referring to you.
Nayoka: or you maybe
Florencia: I just
wanted to ask a few questions.
Leniel (pushes Nayoka
toward her): good luck.
Florencia: I'd
appreciate it if both of you stayed.
Nayoka: smells
fishy. never seen you around.
Florencia: that's
because I'm not from around, don't worry—I won't take much of your time.
Nayoka: sure
Leniel: fine.
they sit on a bench,
the girl stands.
Leniel: you work for

Florencia: what

questions people so formally

to search for Hydrion now anyway

he's dangerous and let's just say he's needed. I hope you do know there's not
only Hydrion
Nayoka: yeah, then
there's the shark, the bat, and—
Florencia (alert): how
the hell do you know that?!
Nayoka: it was just
a guess.
Florencia: quit
messing with me. who are you?!
Nayoka: just a
normal guy.
Florencia: can I get
your name?
Nayoka: you can call
me Nayoka.
Florencia gets a
phone call
Florencia: sorry, I
have to take this.
She walks off
Leniel: since when
did you know all that?
Nayoka: I literally
live near him. and I read your mom's stuff.
Florencia
(returning, in a rush): I'm sorry, I have to go, thanks by the way!
Nayoka: is it just
me or is she heading to our home?
Leniel: someone's
already inside. I don't like this.
Florencia made it to Leniel's home –
living room she rummages through family photos. she finds a familiar face.
Florencia: wait…
isn't this…?
Ms. Kelinza: that's
my son, Leniel.
Florencia: professor
Kelinza?!
Ms. Kelinza:
professor?... no call me Ms. Kelinza.
Florencia: wait—you
said your son… biological?
Ms. Kelinza: I
adopted him.
Florencia: why?
Ms. Kelinza: I
didn't have a reason but I'm glad I did
Leniel rushes in
Leniel: ma!
Ms. Kelinza: hi
there. you're home early.
Leniel: get away
from her
Ms. Kelinza: don't
worry, honey. she's the daughter of a friend.

this is Florencia. Florencia, Leniel.

was interrogating us about the great Hydrion.

Florencia: I work

a boy descends the
stairs.

Leniel (totally
calm): who the hell's this guy? and why did he come from my room?
Male: there's blood
on your bed.
Leniel: that's my
dog's fault
Ms. Kelinza: that's Rodan.

Nayoka: because you
cut yourself?
Ms. Kelinza: believe
it or not… he's a mutanic kaiju. meet project Arkrion.
Nayoka: the shark
Florencia: where are
the others?
Rodan: they said
they're almost here.
doorbell rings. Florencia
opens it. three people enter
Leniel: you've got
to be kidding me
Nayoka: it's the
whole family
Ms. Kelinza: never
could I have ever pictured this
Nayoka: yeah, me too
Ms. Kelinza: Nayoka
you should go home
Night falls and they are seated at the
dining room. everyone
eats.
Ms. Kelinza: so…
what brought you all here?
female 1 (Maxi): stop
acting as if you don't know
female 2 (Dinna): Ms.
gen sent us to investigate Hydrion whereabouts.
Leniel: then why are
you here?
Florencia: we
couldn't get a place near the forest. we were wondering if…
Ms. Kelinza: of
course. you can stay here.
Leniel (stands): are
you kidding me?!
Ms. Kelinza: what's
wrong?
Leniel: you just
invited monsters into our home! monsters who tried to kill you!
Ms. Kelinza: that
was in the past. I can't blame them.
Leniel: I'm going to
Nayoka's.
Leaves: I'll be back
when this nonsense ends.
Ms. Kelinza (sighs)
Florencia: did we
ask for too much?
Dinna: does he
really hate us that much?
Ms. Kelinza: I don't
blame him. you did try to kill his mother.
Dinna: we truly are
sorry
Rodan: where's Hydrion?
Florencia: seriously
Rodan
Rodan: the earlier we
leave, the sooner they'll be together.
Ms. Kelinza: you can
try anything, Hydrion will come out when he wants…
Rodan: then let's
use you as bait.
Ms. Kelinza: he's
not dumb enough to fall for that.
Florencia: so, what

Ms. Kelinza: two
options. you'll find him on a full moon
deep in the forest.
Kelton: that's this Friday.

surroundings. yet Hydrion beat you both or should I say you four.
Kelton: you really
know how to rub it in.
Florencia: what's
the other option?
Ms. Kelinza: you can stay on this island
for some time. study the people here. Since mutants have a bond—when they get
close to one another, they'll sense it… even if it's not very strong.
Dinna: you're not wrong about
that.
Kelton: except, that's
the only thing we sense ever since we entered this area and it's stronger here
Dinna: guess I'm not the
only one feeling it
Ms. Kelinza: lucky you, meaning he's closer,

Florencia: we'll meet Hydrion along
the way.
Ms. Kelinza: the average number of
people on this island is about 5,000.

capture Hydrion?

she
crosses her arms

of that, he developed two attributes.
Dinna: wrath.
Maxi: and greed.
Ms. Kelinza (surprised): exactly
Dinna: it's kinda obvious.
Ms. Kelinza (shrugs): guess so, and by the time
you realize he acquires all to put it in simple terms Hydrion has a
fraction of all of you, you all were created from him. the first time you met
he was slowly adapting. now things would be different but your advantage is the
counter pill, else you would already be dead the first time
she begins
walking away, then turns back.
Ms. Kelinza:
if you
now understand everything I mean, then I don't need to continue. oh—and here's a tip.
Sharks
have a strong sense of blood from miles away. a bat has good sense of
hearing. and a wolf, a wolf can smell from very, very
far.

Florencia (grimly): what she's trying to say…Hydrion

The next
day, Leniel walks to
school with Nayoka, the bodies and blood all gone and damages repaired.
the bell rings and Leniel takes a seat beside
Nayoka. The teacher enters.
Teacher: good morning, class.
Students: morning.
Midas: (whispering): what's wrong with Leniel? he's had that face since
morning.
Nayoka: yeah… it's a little serious .
Kaya: what's up
Nayoka: his mom got some visitors from ….
Teacher: today we have five new transfer students.
the door opens. as the students enter, Nayoka drops his pen in shock
Fiona (concerned): I can feel it
Midas (grins): yeah, I get it
Kotan: never imagined meeting them like this
Kaya: you can say that again
Teacher: kindly introduce yourselves.
Florencia: my name is Florencia, Florencia Williams.
she looks and suddenly recognizes Nayoka
Leniel (sighs): could things get
any worse?
Kelton: I'm Kelton.
Maxi: you can call me maxi.
Dinna: and I'm Dinna.
Rodan: …Rodan.
Midas: quite the bunch
Teacher: well, I hope you all have a wonderful time in this class. find
a seat, and let's begin.
Florencia sits beside Leniel. Rodan takes the seat behind her
Nayoka(grumbling): this just keeps getting worse.
Florencia: hi.
Leniel (looking away): yeah
Florencia: guess we're still not on good terms.
Teacher (sighs): well, seems I came in late again. my time's already up.
Kotan, watch over your class till the next teacher comes in.
Kotan: yes, sir.
Midas: what do we have this period?
Kotan stands in front of
the class with Kaya beside him
Kotan: good morning
class, I'm sure you're all aware of the school's festival coming on this year
other class have begun preparation and though we are not actively
participating. we are to make sure everything goes well and make sure we
dominate in all activities
Florencia: festival?
Nayoka: yeah, starting
this week
Florencia (excited): a
normal school experience huh
Kotan: tomorrow is the
sports day, where we have the athletes and other stuff so stay fit
Kaya whispers in his
ears: actually, it's today
Kotan: you're now telling
me this (sighs) well I guess it's today so…everybody get dressed and fast!
The class begins to panic
Midas: you can't be
serious
Florencia: not how I
pictured it
Everyone get's up and
begins changing, sexes separated by a cardboard wall
Florencia: I didn't
really prepare for this
Kaya: I think I have
spare
Kaya hands down her spare
Sports clothes and the rest of the students wear the schools own. the new
students get some and they head down to the schools sports ground
Each class clothes
distinguishes them from others
Kotan officially
announces the opening of the festival and all the students celebrate
Florencia and her mates
and somewhat excited
