I've never been the type of person to take hand outs. That's not the type of person I am. I like to earn things on my own merit and hard work.
That's why I'm pissed off right now because this is a slap to the face, all my hard work just to be handed borrowed power.

A female voice rang out in my head much to my annoyance. I started to click no but then I heard a knock at my door.
*knock knock*
"Come in." I said to the person outside as they opened my door.
Claire enters the room and smiles at me.
"Kai, are we still going to practice tomorrow?" she asked me.
Yeah I'll be there." I said without looking from the screen in front of me.
"Ok don't be late." She said as she left and closed the door
I returned my full attention to the screen in front of me or more commonly known as a system in isekai anime's.
Borrowed power is how I put it.
I went to go click the no option but then.

That stopped me in my tracks. My family will die if I don't accept this borrowed power if I don't swallow my pride.
"Why am I thinking about this my pride doesn't matter if it puts my family on the line"
So I looked at the system and before I accepted it I had a few questions.
"If I accept this will this boost my natural ability I made on my own.

Maybe I shouldn't call her the system, I should give her a name… how about Ava.
Unbeknownst to Kai that decision would change his future later on.

This is going to be a pain in the ass isn't it. I mentally grown out.
"Check." I said I wanted to see the "Rewards" I got. I may have swallowed my pride but this is still borrowed power.
Another status window opened, showing a list of activities. They were basic exercises in them, showing what Ava wanted me to do each day, like a training app some people have on their phone in my old life.

With that, I went back to sleep but I was awoken to a small alarm sound. I opened my eyes to see another message.

As I questioned it, the room started to shake wildly, actually causing me to panic. It was strong, very strong. I was sure that my whole family could feel it.
"An earthquake!? No, my parents and siblings would be screaming downstairs because of the magnitude."
Before I could question it, the ground started to shake harder. The world around me shifted a blue light surrounded me and before I knew it.
One second I was sitting on my bed the next, I was sitting on red sand.
I could only describe it as beautiful. a desert surrounded by red sun.
Was I teleported? Was this a way for Ava to punish me? As those thoughts reached my mind I notice something. Behind the sand, something emerges and lunges at me. I was defenseless, doomed!
…SIKE….
I rolled out of the way, avoiding the attack. I get to my feet and look ahead. There, a creature rose up. It was a Colossal, segmented terrestrial annelid with fangs larger than a saber tooth. However, there was something wrong…on top of the creature's head, a name appeared. In red the color of blood.
"Colossal Poison-Fanged Sandworm Shai-Hulud…So that's what you are?" I thought to myself with a smile but before I could move Ava came back.

So a survive and search quest I can dig that I can just use this as practice for some techniques I've been working on.
I thought as I glanced at the worm. It glared and screeched at me however I didn't move.
"Every time when I was alive…I ran away. Escaped from these things…
The creature lunged at me, seeking to kill me
Any other person would run. Because this thing was to powerful for them.
However, I wasn't most people as I raised my arm. As the creature almost reached me, something happened.
A shield made of magic blocked as it pushed the creature back. My hand was surrounded by a familiar black and blue glow as my eyes glowed blue as I activated mana vision.
In this world, enhancing one's power through magic was one of the first lessons taught to children. However, I needed to be better. That's why I always trained. To be stronger and better than everyone.
" I used to be known as the weakest human alive…Now…"
I then proceed to rush the beast and punch it out of the ground then I teleport above it a small blue darkness surrounding me as I make a sword with my magic and slice the worm down the middle spilling it purple blood.
As the body fell to the ground, another window popped up, this feline something else

I heard Ava say, but I didn't pay attention to that. I needed to focus on more important things. Right now, I need to survive this place. More of those things could appear.
"That took a lot out of me. More than I expected. Still…I should be able to-"
Before I could finish my thoughts, the ground shook again. This time more piles of sand rose up, causing me to look down in exhaustion.
"Shit…"

Bodies lay scattered across the desert as we see a figure walking towards some runes.
"How long has it been? 3 hours at least since I've come here and I've finally found what has been calling out to me."
As I thought that something shot out of the temple.
Boom!
I looked up to see a dragon.
"Sand Dragon of Greed Yval I should've known it wouldn't be this easy."
As I dodged its claw strike and kept running every once in a while I had to reinforce a part of my body to tank an attack.
"Damn it's fast and I'm not at a hundred percent so I'll wait and lead it away from the temple." I thought as I breathed heavily as I ran far enough so the temple wouldn't get anymore damaged.
"This dragon is restless! He hasn't stopped once! But I'm ready"
As a magic barrier appears surrounding the area, blackish-blue particles that look like stars cover the sky as the ground starts to shake as Kai coats his ebony blade in magic as it starts to form a spiral as the ground was shaking.

As Yval got closer Kai pulled back
And released.
Nova!
As all sound was lost.
A torrent of mana shot into the air as a large hole was left in its wake vaporizing the dragon.

"Few it's still incomplete but that's the best one I've done so far". I said to myself as I pushed magic to my legs and shot back to the temple.
When I got back to the temple and walked in I saw a purple egg on a pedestal calling out to me. I walked over to it and picked it up.
When I did that a sandworm shot up from underneath me I barely dodged it. I ran out of the temple avoiding several other sandworms as I charged up another Archetype Nova.
As I ran one of the sandworms lunged at me, about to me I looked back scared but, then I smirk.
"Too late, worm!"
As I thought this, the space around me changed once more. One second, I was being attacked by sandworms the next I was in my room.
As I feel down on one knee clutching the egg to my chest breathing hard with a smile on my face.
"That…wasn't…so bad…" As I thought this one question came to my mind as I looked down at the egg and wondered why did it call out to me.
"So you must be my other half." As I thought that another status window would pop up in front of me.

It's been a few days since my experience in the Penalty Zone and getting that egg. Since then, I made sure to complete the daily quests. I was currently finishing my last miles, while the maids watched me in confusion.
As I came to a stop, I looked at the screen which showed that I was finished.

"It's been 4 days since I've gained this borrowed power and I've learned a few things.
I learned that I gain Stat points every time I level up and complete daily quests.
I'm also given two rewards to choose from every time I complete a daily quest Cellular Regenerations or a random box. I usually choose a random box.
1: Mystery box
2: Cellular Regeneration
Out of curiosity I chose Cellular Regeneration.
When I did that, I was covered in a green light, and I felt all of my fatigue leaving my body. It was almost as if it never existed in the first place.
"Ar first I was hostile towards Ava but I grew kind of fond of her." I thought to myself
"Ava why do I have to do this again?"
Because master you need to become stronger I'm not allowed to say anything more." Ava would say in her professional tone.
"Ugh you're a real pain you know." I jokingly said to her.
" Well I don't see you analyzing the enemy and finding out their weaknesses oh but let me guess that's borrowed power as well." She said activating her tsundere mode as I called it.
"You such a Tsundere you know that." I said jokingly.
"Don't talk to me, I'm mad at you now master." I laugh at her at her pouting.
I'm happy that she is keeping my wishes and not upgrading my skills but she can be such a Tsundere sometimes.
I also discovered that the system gives me skills and inventory and item storage it also gives me daily drops.
But something was different today Ava gave me a key. It was teal and it intrigued me. At first I didn't want to go but I remembered what was promised last time I didn't want to do something.
She asked me to go to a certain location. I was scared that my parents wouldn't allow me to go but conveniently, it was inside the manor. I grabbed a metal sword from the armory for the guards.
"It's time to figure out why I was given this system and what this key does. It's different from the other items I usually get.
Every item is divided into different types, in order to rank them and give them value. The higher the value is the stronger or more useful it will be. However this item is E, which is probably the lowest, unless there's F
"Check" I mentally commanded as I looked at the Key
[A key that allows you to create an instant dungeon. You may use this on the secret entrance to the basement in Kagehashi manor.] I heard Ava's voice ring out in my head.
"We have a hidden basement in the house?" I questioned myself as I went to go ask my parents.
I walked into the manor and asked a maid where my mother was.
"Lady Cecilia is in the main room reading a book right now young lord." The maid said as told me the direction
"Thank you." I said as I bowed to the maid and left.
As I walked into the main room of the manor I saw my mom sitting down humming to herself as she was reading a book she looked when she heard
"What can I do for you Kai?" She said with a smile as she placed her book down.
"Do we have a hidden basement in our house?" When I said her face immediately pailed in horror.
"Who told you about that?" She said with a sweet smile that didn't reach her face.
"Uhhh Dad told meee." I said hoping she buys it.
"Oh really I'll have to talk to him later." She said with a smile I felt something evil crawl up my back.
"Can you at least tell me where it is?" I ask holding my hands in front of me
She sighed then said "Fine it's beyond the shed in the backyard. The reason I didn't tell you is because every person we've sent in there hasn't come back out." She said as she tried to warn me not to go but I reassured her that I'll come back.
I hugged her and left to go to the shed. On the way there I started to think to myself.
"A key that opens a portal to a dungeon…"
"I don't even want to go but it's not like I have a choice."
I grabbed the key tighter as I went to the armory for the guards to get a sword and a satchel.
"Inventory" I mentally commanded as Black screen appeared before me I stick my hand In the screen and pull out the purple egg.
"You've gotten warmer since last night." I said to myself as I put the egg in my satchel.
As I walked outside I walked past the shed and saw the trap door going down to the basement. I grabbed the key and placed it on the ground. It phased through the ground and a bright light appeared. Almost instantly the trapped door changed into a swamp forest that led underground.
"Ava, are you ready?" I asked Ava mentally.
"Of course master I'm always ready when you are."
"Then let's go."

A figure sits in the darkness as they open their eyes.
"I found you. Greatest Brilliant Fragment of Light. The mysterious figure says as summons someone.
"Zarek, I have a job for you, In the next 4 years. I want you to locate the Greatest Brilliant Fragment of Light. You can kill him or capture him, it doesn't matter to me" the mysterious figure says.
As the person he was talking to walks into the light a ice elf by name of Zarek or better Known as his true name The Pale Shadow.
"You know I'm here to serve you my Liege, it shall be done."
"You better you are my best soldier and my best assassin. I want you to go check the fake desert of screams I felt his presence there 4 days ago go check it out and report back to me.
"It shall be done i will not disappoint you." As Zarek said that he bowed and left.
"You will not escape us this time." The figure said with a sadistic smile
