Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: First Mission

Night covered Queens in a blanket of dim lights and distant sirens.

Fredy walked calmly down the empty street while his shadow soldier followed silently behind him.

The city felt different now.

Before, he had always imagined what it would be like to live in the world of Marvel.

Now he was actually here.

And somehow… he was already becoming part of it.

Fredy glanced at the shadow soldier.

"Shade."

The dark warrior immediately stopped and faced him.

Fredy studied it carefully.

The soldier stood like a perfectly trained guard—silent, motionless, and completely loyal.

It felt strange knowing this creature existed because of him.

Because of the Shadow Monarch template from Sung Jin-Woo.

Fredy nodded slightly.

"Not bad for the first summon."

Just then—

A blue notification appeared in front of him.

[System Mission Available]

Mission: Clean the Streets

Objective: Defeat or capture 10 criminals in Queens.

Progress: 3 / 10

Reward:

• 500 EXP

• Random Skill Scroll

Fredy smiled.

"So the system encourages crime fighting."

That was convenient.

After all, New York had no shortage of criminals.

Fredy stretched his shoulders slightly.

"Well… let's finish the mission."

Two Hours Later

A warehouse near the river.

Broken windows.

Rusty metal doors.

Suspicious vans parked outside.

Fredy crouched on a nearby rooftop while Shade stood beside him.

Inside the warehouse, several men were unloading weapons.

Fredy narrowed his eyes.

"Gun smugglers."

He could hear their conversation clearly.

"…shipment came from overseas."

"…boss wants it delivered before morning."

Fredy's system appeared again.

Mission Progress Opportunity Detected

Criminals inside warehouse: 7

Fredy smiled.

"Perfect."

He jumped down from the rooftop.

CRASH.

The metal door slammed open as Fredy kicked it.

All the criminals inside froze.

"Who the hell are you?!"

Fredy stepped inside calmly.

Behind him, Shade emerged from the shadows.

The room instantly became colder.

One of the smugglers pointed his gun.

"Kid, you picked the wrong place to—"

BANG!

The gun fired.

But the bullet missed.

Fredy had already moved.

His body blurred forward.

BAM!

One punch knocked the gunman across the room.

Two others rushed him.

Fredy ducked under a swing and kicked one man's knee.

CRACK.

The man collapsed screaming.

Another tried to grab a crowbar.

Before he could swing it—

Shade appeared behind him.

The shadow soldier slammed him into the ground.

THUD.

The smugglers panicked.

"What the hell is that thing?!"

Fredy moved like a predator among them.

Punch.

Kick.

Throw.

Within seconds, most of the criminals were on the ground groaning.

But one man ran toward the back door.

Fredy sighed.

"Seriously?"

He raised his hand.

"Shade."

The shadow soldier moved instantly.

Like a black blur, it intercepted the fleeing man and pinned him against the wall.

Fredy walked over calmly.

Soon…

All seven criminals were unconscious.

The system notification appeared.

Mission Progress Updated

10 / 10

Mission Complete.

Another screen appeared.

Rewards Granted

• 500 EXP

• Random Skill Scroll

Fredy's eyes lit up.

"Skill scroll?"

A glowing scroll icon appeared in the system inventory.

Fredy selected it.

The scroll dissolved into light.

Skill Acquired

Shadow Dash

Allows the user to move instantly between nearby shadows.

Fredy grinned.

"That's actually amazing."

Movement abilities were incredibly useful.

But suddenly—

A loud mechanical roar echoed outside the warehouse.

VRRRRRRRRMMMM.

Fredy frowned.

"That doesn't sound normal."

Then the front wall exploded.

BOOM!

Metal and concrete shattered as a massive armored figure smashed through the entrance.

The criminals who were still conscious screamed.

The giant machine stepped forward.

Its glowing mechanical eyes locked onto Fredy.

Inside the cockpit, a man laughed maniacally.

Fredy immediately recognized the suit.

The bulky armor.

The massive metal claws.

It looked like a prototype combat suit.

The pilot shouted:

"HAHAHAHA! Finally found someone interesting!"

Fredy narrowed his eyes.

"That armor…"

He remembered it from Marvel lore.

A villain who often caused chaos in New York.

Rhino

The armored brute slammed his metal fists together.

"Let's see how strong you really are, kid!"

Fredy slowly smiled.

Behind him, Shade stood ready.

Fredy whispered calmly.

"Well…"

"This just became interesting."
