Chapter 8 - The Attack in Sector Nine

The city of Neo-Astra never truly slept.

Even in the deepest hours of the night, when most entertainment districts had dimmed and the luxury towers above the clouds glowed with soft artificial moonlight, the lower sectors continued moving with quiet determination.

Cargo drones flew between transport depots.

Maintenance crews repaired infrastructure beneath glowing walkways.

Automated rail systems carried supplies between districts.

Life in Neo-Astra was constant.

But in Sector Nine, something was wrong.

The district sat several levels below the central skyline, nestled between industrial zones and older residential towers. The streets were narrower here, the buildings older, and the lights dimmer compared to the luxurious upper districts.

Most citizens avoided Sector Nine unless they had business there.

Not because it was dangerous.

But because it was forgotten.

That made it perfect for people who preferred not to be noticed.

And tonight, someone had chosen it for a very specific purpose.

Deep within an abandoned manufacturing complex, a circle of figures stood in silence.

The room was enormous, its ceiling disappearing into darkness far above. Rusted conveyor belts and inactive machinery filled the space like skeletons from a previous era.

But the center of the factory floor had been cleared.

A large symbol had been carved into the concrete.

Intricate lines forming an ancient design.

A summoning circle.

Around it stood five cloaked individuals.

Their faces hidden beneath dark hoods.

Each of them held a small metallic device in one hand.

The devices pulsed faintly with deep crimson light.

One of the cloaked figures stepped forward.

His voice echoed softly through the empty factory.

"The first attempt failed."

Another figure shifted slightly.

"Stormfang interfered."

A third voice spoke.

"And the target?"

"Confirmed."

The first figure raised his device slightly.

The red light intensified.

"Our observation drones recorded the energy signature."

He paused.

Then spoke carefully.

"It matches the prophecy."

The room fell silent.

Even the faint hum of distant city infrastructure seemed to fade.

Another cloaked figure lowered their hood slightly.

Revealing pale skin and eyes that glowed faintly in the darkness.

"Are you certain?"

"Yes."

The first figure activated a holographic projection from his device.

The image flickered into existence above the summoning circle.

Security footage from the Neon Market district.

Kael standing in the street.

Silver energy erupting around him.

Lightning clashing with crimson power.

And the triangular resonance that had appeared between the three men.

The hologram froze on that moment.

The symbol of the triangle.

Three forces connected.

One of the cloaked figures whispered quietly.

"The Trinity pattern…"

Another voice responded.

"It was only legend."

The first figure lowered his device.

"Not anymore."

He gestured toward the recording.

"The Celestial energy is real."

The others watched silently.

For centuries, their organization had searched for signs of this power.

The ancient texts had spoken of it.

A force older than the supernatural races themselves.

A power capable of controlling the very energy that flowed through vampires, lycans, demons, and every other supernatural being.

But it had never appeared.

Until now.

The first figure spoke again.

"Our scouts confirmed the boy arrived in the city only hours before the demon appeared."

Another figure asked quietly,

"And the others?"

"The lycan heir and the vampire prince."

A soft laugh echoed from the shadows.

"How poetic."

The figure stepped slightly closer to the circle.

"The prophecy did say three."

The first figure nodded.

"Yes."

He looked down at the carved symbol on the floor.

Three points.

Three forces.

Connected.

"The Trinity has begun forming."

Another cloaked member shifted uneasily.

"If that bond fully awakens…"

The first figure finished the sentence.

"…they will become unstoppable."

Silence returned.

The group understood the implications.

If the ancient bond formed completely, the balance of power across the entire world could change.

Their organization had spent centuries manipulating supernatural politics.

Guiding wars.

Controlling outcomes.

A force like that could destroy everything they had built.

The first figure lifted his hand.

"Which is why we cannot allow it to awaken."

The others nodded slowly.

He turned toward the summoning circle.

The red lights from their devices began pulsing faster.

"The first demon was merely a test."

Another figure asked quietly,

"And now?"

The leader's voice hardened.

"Now we escalate."

The devices activated simultaneously.

Dark energy poured into the carved symbol.

The lines on the floor began glowing.

A deep crimson light spread across the concrete.

The air inside the factory grew heavy.

Oppressive.

A low rumble echoed through the building.

Outside the factory, hidden beneath layers of concrete and steel, the ground began to tremble slightly.

Inside the circle, the glowing lines shifted.

Twisted.

Expanded.

The summoning design was changing.

Becoming larger.

More complex.

The leader raised both hands.

"This time," he said quietly,

"We send something stronger."

The energy inside the circle surged violently.

The ground cracked.

Dark smoke poured upward from the symbol.

A deep roar echoed from somewhere far below the earth.

One of the cloaked figures stepped back nervously.

"That creature will draw attention."

The leader did not hesitate.

"That is the point."

His glowing eyes reflected the rising smoke.

"Neo-Astra will focus on the monster."

He paused.

Then smiled faintly beneath his hood.

"And while the city fights chaos…"

He gestured toward the summoning circle.

"…we take the boy."

The energy exploded upward.

A massive shadow began rising from the glowing symbol.

Claws.

Armor-like skin.

Burning red eyes opening within the darkness.

The creature was twice the size of the previous demon.

And far more violent.

The factory walls shook as it forced itself into the world.

Metal beams groaned under the pressure.

The cloaked figures stepped back as the creature fully emerged.

It towered above them.

Its roar shook the entire building.

Outside, the tremor spread through the streets of Sector Nine.

Far above the district, several security drones detected the disturbance instantly.

Alerts flashed across the Neo-Astra security network.

Emergency protocols activated.

And across the city—

Three individuals felt the change.

In the Neon Market district, Kael suddenly stopped walking.

The strange warmth inside his chest flared violently.

Orion, standing nearby, looked up at the skyline.

"You feel that?"

Lucien's crimson eyes narrowed as he turned toward the lower districts.

"Yes."

The pressure in the air had changed again.

But this time—

It was far more dangerous.

Kael spoke quietly.

"There's another one."

Orion cracked his knuckles.

"Good."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Because I was just starting to get bored."

Lucien's expression was colder.

"That one is much stronger."

Kael looked toward the distant industrial sectors.

The energy calling to him was unmistakable.

And it was coming from Sector Nine.

Deep below the glowing towers of Neo-Astra.

Something dark had just entered the city.

Something far worse than the first demon.

And this time—

It was hunting them.
