Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Boarding the Flight

The airport lights blurred past Zara's tired eyes as she ducked through the crowded terminal. Every instinct screamed that danger had followed her this far. The stranger who guided her remained close, blending into the shadows like he was part of the crowd.

"Check the gates," he whispered. "Flight 327. Leaves in fifteen minutes. No mistakes."

Zara nodded, clutching the letter tightly in her coat. Its secrets burned in her mind, haunting her with every step. Whoever wanted her dead wasn't just after information anymore — they were after her.

She scanned the terminal, spotting a suspicious man lingering near the security checkpoint. His eyes were sharp, scanning every passenger, lingering on her for just a heartbeat too long. Panic surged. He's on to me.

With no time to think, Zara tightened her coat around her and ducked into a side corridor. The stranger pressed a small device into her hand. "This will help. Don't lose it."

Moments later, they reached the gate. Flight attendants were ushering passengers forward, oblivious to the tension crackling around Zara. She swiped her ticket, heart hammering. One step closer to safety — or so she thought.

As she settled into her seat, the letter slipped from her pocket, fluttering to the floor. She grabbed it instinctively, but a shadow fell over her — the same suspicious man from earlier, now seated just a few rows ahead.

Zara froze. She couldn't let him see her. She pretended to read, keeping her head down, fingers gripping the letter so tightly it crumpled slightly.

The plane roared down the runway, engines screaming to life. She leaned back, trying to calm her racing heart. She was leaving the country, escaping her past, but the danger wasn't gone. It had followed her onto the plane.

A ping from the device the stranger had given her made her freeze. A message appeared on the small screen: "They know you. Be ready."

Her eyes widened. Her stomach sank. Whatever awaited her abroad wasn't going to be easy.

And from the shadows of the terminal, a figure watched the plane take off, lips curling into a smile.
