Chapter 4 - The investigation of Agent 05

Meanwhile, in Area 11, Block 207, Agent 05 arrived at the location where a small group of citizens were protesting against the government.

People were shouting angrily, holding signs and arguing with government officers trying to control the crowd.

Agent 05 stood at a distance, observing the chaos.

"Alright… what's happening here?" he muttered to himself.

He slowly adjusted his hat and sighed.

"What a mess."

His eyes scanned the crowd carefully.

"Who started all this? And I really have to investigate this?" he murmured with mild annoyance. "Sounds terribly boring."

He paused for a moment, watching the protesters more closely.

"But… I do wonder who made these fools snap and turn against the government."

A small smile appeared on his face.

"That part is at least a little interesting."

He folded his arms behind his back.

"Although… I already have a prime suspect."

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"However, that man has been under strict surveillance. No signs of leaving his residence. No suspicious behavior."

Agent 05 tapped his finger thoughtfully against his arm.

"And yet… I have a feeling he somehow caused all of this."

He looked back at the angry crowd.

"So the real question is…"

His smile slowly returned.

"How did he do it?"

Agent 05 adjusted his hat again and stepped forward.

"Well then," he said quietly.

"That's my job to find out."

Agent 05 gathered several citizens inside a temporary government office near the town. The room was quiet and tense as people stood nervously before him.

He slowly walked across the room, observing each of their faces.

"Now then," he said calmly, adjusting his hat. "Let us begin."

His voice sounded polite, but there was something unsettling beneath it.

"I want to know who made you people act this way," he continued. "Who told you to go against the government?"

For a moment, no one spoke.

Finally, one man stepped forward.

"No one told us to do anything," he said nervously. "We chose to do it ourselves. After learning the truth, we realized the government had been lying to us."

Agent 05 tilted his head slightly.

"Oh? Is that so?"

He slowly approached the man, his expression unreadable.

"And how exactly did you 'learn the truth'?" he asked.

The man hesitated.

Agent 05's smile faded slightly.

The atmosphere in the room suddenly became heavier. His presence alone was enough to make people uneasy. Under the pressure and fear, some of them began to speak.

One woman finally said, "We saw an animation… on a public screen. It showed the history the government tried to hide. It explained things we were never taught."

Another person spoke up.

"Yes. It revealed many lies. It educated us about things we never knew before."

Agent 05's eyes narrowed slightly.

"An animation…" he repeated quietly.

Another group of citizens stepped forward.

"We saw something else," one of them said. "Three people came to our area wearing clown costumes. At first they told jokes and performed small shows."

"But then they started telling stories," another person added. "Stories, poetry, and knowledge about the past."

"They didn't tell us to protest," someone else said quickly. "But after hearing them… we realized the government was lying to us. That's why we joined the protest."

The room fell silent again.

Agent 05 stood still for a moment, thinking.

Then a small smile slowly appeared on his face.

"So… an animation… and three mysterious entertainers."

He turned and walked slowly toward the window, looking out at the dark city.

"Interesting."

From the information he had gathered, two clear leads had appeared.

The first was the animation that had exposed the government's lies.

The second was a group of three unknown individuals who had disguised themselves as clowns and spread knowledge among the people.

Agent 05 adjusted his hat again.

"Three people…" he murmured softly.

Somewhere in this city, those three individuals were hiding.

And it was now his responsibility to find them.

His smile slowly widened.

"Oh my… this investigation just became much more interesting."

At the Government Investigation Center — Area 11

The room was dimly lit, filled with glowing screens and streams of data moving across holographic displays. In the center of the room sat Agent 05, leaning lazily in a rotating chair.

A technician spoke from behind a console.

"Agent 05, this is the screen that was used during the incident in South City. It was broadcasting unauthorized media."

Agent 05 slowly adjusted his hat and looked at the large digital display in front of him.

"Oh my… unauthorized entertainment?" he murmured. "How rebellious."

He stretched his fingers before placing them onto the holographic keyboard.

"Let's see what secrets you're hiding."

Lines of code began to flood the screen as Agent 05 started digging through the system. Firewalls, data logs, transmission records—everything was opened and scanned within seconds.

"Broadcast signal detected… temporary connection… external storage device…" he muttered as he analyzed the data.

The technician leaned forward nervously.

"Can you trace who used it?"

Agent 05 smirked.

"I would be disappointed in myself if I couldn't."

More code scrolled rapidly across the screen. He searched through the system logs, security records, and memory fragments.

But then the scrolling stopped.

Agent 05 frowned slightly.

"Hm."

He checked again.

Nothing.

No user ID.

No device signature.

No transmission trail.

The system logs were completely empty.

The technician blinked in confusion.

"Is… something wrong?"

Agent 05 leaned back in his chair and sighed softly.

"Oh my. Whoever did this wiped the entire system clean."

He tapped the screen again, scanning deeper layers of the network.

Still nothing.

Not even a fragment remained.

Agent 05 chuckled quietly.

"Well, well… that's unexpected."

He stood up slowly and adjusted his coat.

"No fingerprints. No digital footprints. No signal residue." He smiled slightly. "It's as if our little rebels never existed."

The technician looked uneasy.

"So… we can't find them?"

Agent 05 placed his hands behind his back and looked at the dark city lights through the large window.

"Oh, we will find them."

His smile grew sharper.

"People who try this hard to hide themselves always make one small mistake eventually."

He turned back toward the glowing screens.

"And when they do…"

His eyes narrowed with interest.

"I'll be there."

Agent 05 stood up from his desk and walked toward an old wooden cabinet in the corner of the room. He pulled open one of the drawers and took out a faded photograph.

The picture showed the face of an old man.

Agent 05 looked down at it for a moment, a slow smirk forming on his lips.

"So… it begins again," he murmured.

He lightly tapped the photograph with his finger.

"I'll be there, old man."

His smile widened slightly as he placed the photograph back on the desk.
