Chapter 25 - The First Rules of Time

The station lights flickered again.

Half the platform was now in darkness, lit only by the red emergency lights along the walls.

Passengers were confused, whispering, checking their phones.

But Lena's attention was locked on the three agents walking toward them.

This time, they weren't pretending to be normal people.

They moved with precision.

Fast.

Purposeful.

Daniel grabbed Lena's arm.

"They're coming!"

Lena's phone vibrated again.

DING.

A message from her future self appeared.

"Rule one: Never stay where the correction begins."

Lena immediately understood.

"The platform!" she said quickly. "We have to move!"

Daniel didn't ask questions.

They both ran down the stairs toward the lower corridor of the station.

Behind them—

The agents followed.

But something strange happened.

The moment Lena stepped off Platform 3—

Her phone vibrated again.

"Correction Point 2 lost."

Lena looked back.

The tall agent had stopped moving.

The other two also stopped.

Daniel slowed down slightly.

"They're not chasing us?"

Lena read the next message.

"They cannot continue once the location changes."

Daniel blinked.

"So… they're stuck there?"

Lena nodded slowly.

"Yes."

The agents stood at the top of the stairs, watching silently.

They didn't follow.

For the first time—

The timeline hunters had failed.

Daniel exhaled in relief.

"Okay… that's good."

But Lena's phone vibrated again.

Another message appeared.

"Temporary success."

Her stomach tightened.

Daniel noticed.

"What now?"

Lena read the next line.

"Correction Point 3 will activate soon."

Daniel frowned.

"How many of these points exist?"

Lena asked the same question in a message.

The reply came slowly.

"Three."

Daniel looked hopeful.

"So if we survive the third one…"

Lena finished the sentence.

"The timeline system breaks."

Her phone vibrated again.

But this message wasn't from her future self.

It was from the agents.

"Correction Point 3 initiated."

Daniel whispered, "Where is it?"

The next message appeared.

And Lena's heart stopped.

"Location: Lena's apartment."

Daniel stared at her.

"…Your home?"

Lena felt a cold wave run through her chest.

Because suddenly—

She remembered something.

The gas stove.

The small leak she had smelled two days ago.

Her phone vibrated again.

The agents sent the final message.

"Scheduled event: explosion."

Daniel's eyes widened.

"What time?"

Lena looked at the screen.

Her voice was barely a whisper.

"Midnight."

Daniel checked the station clock.

11:32 PM.

Only 28 minutes left.

Daniel looked at her urgently.

"We need to get to your apartment now."

Lena shook her head slowly.

"No."

Daniel frowned.

"What?"

Lena looked back toward the platform where the agents still stood watching.

"They expect us to go there."

Her phone vibrated again.

Another message from her future self appeared.

"Good."

A second message followed.

"Now you're thinking like me."

Daniel sighed nervously.

"I'm starting to hate time travel."

Lena looked at the message again.

Then the final line appeared.

"If you want to break time…"

Her heart beat faster as she read the rest.

"…let the explosion happen."
