Chapter 16 - A Life on the Line

Lena's hands trembled as she stared at the last message.

"Trust Daniel."

"Because he dies next."

Her heart pounded in her chest.

Daniel… dies?

She quickly opened the chat again.

Daniel had just sent another message.

Daniel:

Are you still there?

Lena immediately typed back.

Lena:

Yes.

Her fingers moved quickly.

Lena:

Listen carefully. Something bad is going to happen to you.

There was a pause.

Then Daniel replied.

Daniel:

That's exactly what I was afraid of.

Another message came.

Daniel:

Because I just received another message too.

Lena's breathing became uneven.

Lena:

From who?

Daniel replied.

Daniel:

From my own number.

Lena felt a chill run down her spine.

The same thing had happened to her.

Another vibration.

Daniel sent the message he received.

"Don't go to the train station tonight."

Lena frowned.

Lena:

Why were you going there?

Daniel replied a moment later.

Daniel:

Because I work there.

Her heart dropped.

This wasn't just coincidence.

Her future self was trying to stop another death.

Lena:

Then don't go.

Daniel hesitated.

Daniel:

If I don't go, someone else might take my shift.

Lena paused.

That thought hadn't crossed her mind.

Another message came from Daniel.

Daniel:

The message also said something else.

Her fingers tightened around the phone.

Lena:

What?

Daniel replied slowly.

Daniel:

It said the accident will happen at 10:45 PM.

Lena checked the time.

10:12 PM.

Her heart started racing.

That meant they had only 33 minutes.

Another vibration.

But this time—

The message came from her own number again.

Lena quickly opened it.

"He won't listen to you."

Her chest tightened.

Another message appeared.

"You must go to the station."

Lena's eyes widened.

Lena:

Why?

The reply came instantly.

"Because tonight… you save him."

Her breathing stopped for a second.

Another message followed.

"Just like you saved yourself."

Lena grabbed her jacket immediately.

Her heart pounded with fear and determination.

She quickly typed one last message to Daniel.

Lena:

Don't move. I'm coming to the station.

Daniel replied almost instantly.

Daniel:

Wait… you're actually coming?

But Lena had already started running.

The night air was cold as she rushed down the street.

Her mind kept repeating the same thought.

10:45 PM.

Somewhere at the train station…

Daniel's life was about to end.

And just like before—

Only one person knew how to stop it.

Lena.
