Chapter 7 - TATAKA VADH

Chapter 7:

The journey through the forests had begun.

Under the guidance of Sage Vishvamitra, Rama and Lakshmana traveled far from the comforts of Ayodhya. The roads of the kingdom gradually disappeared behind them, replaced by dense forests, winding rivers, and towering mountains.

For the first time, the young princes witnessed the hardships faced by sages and ordinary people living far from cities.

As they moved deeper into the wilderness, Rama noticed a strange silence.

The forest seemed lifeless.

No birds sang among the trees.

No animals wandered through the grass.

An eerie stillness hung in the air.

Rama turned toward Vishvamitra.

"Revered Sage, why does this forest appear so desolate?"

The sage's face grew serious.

"This was once a beautiful and prosperous region," Vishvamitra replied. "But now it is cursed by the presence of a terrible Rakshasi named Tataka."

Lakshmana listened carefully.

Vishvamitra continued.

"Tataka possesses enormous strength and terrifying powers. She attacks travelers, destroys villages, and spreads fear throughout the land. Because of her cruelty, no one dares to enter this forest."

Rama looked around.

The broken trees and abandoned paths revealed the truth of the sage's words.

For years, innocent people had suffered.

For years, fear had ruled this place.

Vishvamitra stopped walking and faced the young prince.

"Rama, it is your duty as a Kshatriya to protect the innocent and destroy evil. You must confront Tataka."

For a moment, Rama remained silent.

"Tataka is a woman," he said respectfully. "Is it righteous to kill her?"

The sage nodded.

"Dharma is not determined by appearance but by actions. One who causes suffering and destroys the lives of countless innocents cannot be spared merely because she is a woman. Protecting the innocent is the highest duty."

Rama understood.

His purpose was not personal hatred or revenge.

His duty was to uphold Dharma.

The prince lifted his bow.

The string echoed through the forest like thunder.

The sound traveled across the wilderness.

Far away, Tataka heard it.

Her eyes burned with rage.

Who dared enter her domain?

The monstrous Rakshasi rushed toward the source of the sound.

The earth trembled beneath her footsteps.

Trees shattered as she advanced.

Soon, a gigantic figure emerged from the darkness.

Her appearance was terrifying.

Her voice roared like a storm.

The forest itself seemed to recoil from her presence.

Tataka glared at the young prince standing before her.

Then she attacked.

With supernatural speed, she hurled massive rocks and uprooted trees toward Rama and Lakshmana.

The brothers quickly moved aside.

Rama drew an arrow and released it.

The arrow flew like lightning through the air.

The battle had begun.

Tataka used powerful illusions to confuse her enemies.

Dust storms filled the sky.

The forest shook with her fury.

But Rama remained calm.

Every lesson taught by Sage Vashistha and every skill learned through years of training guided his actions.

Arrow after arrow left his bow.

Each shot struck with incredible precision.

Lakshmana stood beside his brother, protecting the sage and watching for hidden attacks.

The battle raged across the forest.

At last, Vishvamitra called out.

"Rama! End this evil and restore peace to this land!"

The prince nodded.

Drawing a powerful arrow, he focused his mind completely.

With a swift movement, he released the missile.

The arrow streaked through the air and struck Tataka.

The mighty Rakshasi let out a final cry.

Then she fell.

The forest trembled as her enormous body crashed to the ground.

Silence followed.

For the first time in many years, peace returned to the cursed forest.

The dark clouds seemed to vanish.

Birds slowly returned to the trees.

The air itself felt lighter.

The sages rejoiced.

The gods watched from the heavens with approval.

Vishvamitra smiled proudly.

"Well done, Rama. Today you have fulfilled your duty and protected the innocent."

Yet this victory was only the beginning.

The young prince had won his first battle.

Greater challenges awaited him.

More powerful enemies would rise.

And one day, far across the ocean in the golden city of Lanka, a king named Ravana would hear of a prince whose arrows could defeat even the mightiest foes.

The path of destiny continued forward.

And Rama had taken his first step upon it.
