Chapter 31 - Chapter 58-59

Chapter 58 – SWAT Meets Its New Instructors

LAPD SWAT Headquarters – Briefing Room

The LAPD SWAT briefing room was packed. Operators from 50-David and 20-David sat anxiously awaiting the reason for the unexpected call-up.

Sergeant Mumford, a tough, straightforward veteran, crossed his arms as he looked at Commander Hicks, who stood beside Captain Jessica Cortez.

Across the room, Sergeant Hondo Harrelson sat with his team, consisting of Deacon, Luca, Tan, Street, and Chris, all attentive.

Cris Alonso, the only woman on the team, leaned forward, curious.

"This must be serious if they called everyone."

Luca nodded.

"I bet we're getting a big mission."

Hicks cleared his throat, drawing everyone's attention. "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for arriving quickly. What we have to say today isn't about an operation, but something that will change the way we train from now on."

Jessica picked up a remote control and pointed it at the screen on the wall.

"Our training has always been top-notch, but with modern challenges, we need to adapt. That's why we've brought in two instructors who will take the SWAT teams to a new level."

She pressed a button and two images appeared on the screen.

The first showed a man with a shaved head, cold eyes, and a combat-hardened soldier's gaze. The second was of a woman with curly hair and piercing eyes, clearly accustomed to high-risk situations.

Chris raised his eyebrows.

"Who are they?"

Jessica smiled and turned to the team.

"Ladies and gentlemen, meet Jason Gibbs and Ziva David."

There was a murmur in the room as the team absorbed the names.

Jessica pressed another button, and more images appeared on the screen.

The first was of Jason Gibbs in military uniform, holding a sniper rifle, with a desert in the background.

"Jason Gibbs served in the US Army. He joined the Green Berets and then went through Delta Force," Jessica explained. "Specialist in clandestine operations, sniper, hand-to-hand combat, demolitions, and intelligence."

Street whistled softly.

"The guy's in Delta? This is serious."

The second image showed Jason alongside a group of operators capturing Saddam Hussein.

Tan's eyes widened.

"He was on the mission that captured Saddam?"

Jessica nodded.

"Yes. Furthermore, he holds the record for a 3km long shot in Kandahar. He also participated in the Battle of Tora Bora and many other operations that are still classified."

Hicks smiled slightly.

"Let's just say he's not someone you'd want to face on the other side of a battlefield."

Hondo nodded slowly.

"And the woman?"

Jessica moved to the next image.

"Ziva David. Former Mossad agent, specialist in covert operations and counterterrorism. After years in Israel, she joined NCIS and worked as a special agent. Fluent in multiple languages, expert in hand-to-hand combat and espionage."

Cris straightened up in her chair, clearly interested.

"So we'll have a female instructor?"

Jessica smiled.

"Yes. And not just any woman. Ziva has an impressive combat record and is one of the best at infiltration and interrogation."

She moved to another image. Now it was Ziva, in a suit, alongside NCIS and FBI agents.

"She's worked side-by-side with numerous American and international agencies. She has field experience against terrorists, cartels, and criminal organizations."

Cris crossed her arms, a smile on her face.

"I like this. Finally, a woman in charge of training."

Jessica nodded.

"Cris, being a sniper, you'll benefit greatly from Jason's training. He's considered one of the best in the world."

Chris smiled wider.

"I can't wait."

Mumford scratched his chin.

"So we're bringing in two ghosts of war to train us?"

Jessica smiled.

"Exactly."

Hicks stepped forward.

"Jason and Ziva have an unparalleled track record. They'll teach you new techniques in urban combat, precision shooting, infiltration, and responding to modern threats. You'll learn from two of the best."

Deacon crossed his arms.

"Are they still active?"

Jessica shook her head.

"No. They're 'retired,' but they've decided to share their knowledge with us."

Hondo looked at his team.

"Well, if we're going to be trained by legends, I think we should be ready to learn everything they have to teach."

Jessica looked at everyone.

"They arrive on Monday. So be prepared for a new level of training."

The LAPD SWAT team was about to undergo the most intense training they had ever had.

And Jason Gibbs and Ziva David were going to make sure that every operator came out of there better than ever.

Chapter 59 – The New SWAT Instructors

LAPD SWAT Headquarters – Monday Morning

The sun had barely risen, and the LAPD SWAT headquarters was already in full swing. Operators from the 50-David and 20-David teams were gathered in the training yard, chatting amongst themselves about the new instructors who were about to arrive.

There was a mixture of curiosity and anticipation in the air.

Everyone knew that Jason Gibbs and Ziva David were no ordinary instructors.

And, while they waited, Sergeants Hondo Harrelson and Mumford discussed things amongst themselves.

"So, what do you think of this, Mumford?" asked Hondo, crossing his arms.

Mumford, a pragmatic veteran, snorted.

"I guess I'll wait and see. If they're as good as they say, great. If not… well, I've seen plenty of guys who were legends on paper and nothing in the field."

Hondo smiled slightly.

— I think this time it's going to be different.

And then, a black car pulled through the main gate.

The parking lot fell silent as everyone watched the vehicle stop.

The driver's side door opened first, and Jason Gibbs calmly exited, wearing black cargo pants, tactical boots, and a long-sleeved shirt rolled up to his forearms.

His gaze swept across the yard as if scanning a battlefield.

On the other side, the passenger door opened, and Ziva David stepped out, wearing a black jacket, jeans, and boots, her hair neatly tied back, her eyes assessing everyone present.

Even without saying a word, her posture and gaze said it all.

These two weren't there to play games.

Hicks and Jessica Cortez were the first to greet them.

— Jason. Ziva. Welcome to LAPD SWAT. — said Hicks, shaking hands with both of them.

— Good to see you here. "— Jessica finished, with a satisfied smile.

Jason looked around and whistled softly.

— Nice place. Modern equipment. Looks like we're dealing with real professionals.

Ziva smiled slightly, looking at the teams.

— Let's see if your reputation matches reality.

Hondo approached, extending his hand.

— Sergeant Harrelson, leader of the 20-David.

Jason shook his hand firmly.

— Jason Gibbs.

Ziva did the same, feeling the strength in Hondo's handshake.

— Ziva David.

Mumford joined the conversation, observing the two instructors with an analytical look.

— Sergeant Mumford, leader of the 50-David. I've seen many instructors come through here. Let's see if you really know what you're doing.

Jason smiled slightly.

— I like that. A skeptical man. We'll get along well.

Mumford arched an eyebrow, crossing his arms.

"We'll see."

Jessica and Hicks gathered the team, and Hondo took the lead.

"Alright, everyone. These are the new instructors. You already know their names. Now it's time to get to know them better."

Jason and Ziva stood side by side, looking directly at the operators.

Jason was the first to speak.

"I'm Jason Gibbs. I spent over twenty years in the Army, serving with the Green Berets and then Delta Force. I've been in every type of combat environment, dealing with the deadliest threats on the planet. Now, I'm here to teach you not only how to survive, but how to win."

Ziva crossed her arms, her gaze piercing.

"Ziva David. I spent years in Mossad and then NCIS. Specialist in infiltration, hand-to-hand combat, espionage, and interrogation. What I'm going to teach you is how to think and act like a clandestine operative within an urban environment." Hicks looked at the team.

"Any questions?"

Cris Alonso, the team's sniper, stepped forward, her eyes fixed on Jason.

"Sir, I heard you have one of the most impressive long-range shooting records. Is that true?"

Jason smiled slightly.

"If you're talking about the 3km shot in Kandahar… yes, that's me."

Chris smiled slightly, clearly impressed.

"I hope to learn a lot from you."

Jason nodded.

"And I hope you're ready to be pushed to your limits."

She just smiled more.

Deacon, a SWAT veteran, crossed his arms.

"So you're here to teach us how to be better operators?"

Ziva nodded.

"We're here to ensure you can handle any threat, no matter how unpredictable."

Luca, always relaxed, smiled. — Does that mean we're going to get our asses kicked during training?

Jason laughed.

— Probably.

The team chuckled a bit, but they knew this wasn't a joke.

They were about to face the most intense training of their lives.
