Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 – Arrival on Paradise Island

Hum.

A brilliant beam of Bifrost light descended from the sky.

In an instant, Ethan Drake's figure vanished from Neptune and reappeared beneath a completely different sky. The long journey across light-years lasted only a moment.

For a brief second, dizziness blurred his senses.

But Ethan quickly adapted. When he lifted his head, a wide blue sky stretched endlessly above him, clear and vibrant like freshly washed glass.

Without a doubt—

He had finally returned to Earth.

With Stormbreaker in hand, the power of space teleportation had become entirely his to command.

"But where exactly am I?"

Testing the axe's teleportation ability was only part of the reason he had come back.

There was something else.

Buried deep beneath the glaciers of Antarctica lay a Kryptonian scout ship that had crashed there more than ten thousand years ago. Few people knew that secret.

Clark's father had learned about the effect of yellow stars on Kryptonian biology from that very ship. It had been the vessel that first discovered the unique energy properties of Earth's sun.

A yellow star.

A power source capable of amplifying Kryptonian physiology.

As Ethan thought about that fact, he suddenly realized something obvious.

He was Kryptonian too.

If Clark could evolve under Earth's sun, the same transformation should occur within him.

Warm sunlight spread across his body.

Instantly, Ethan felt something inside him awaken.

Every cell in his body began reacting violently to the solar radiation. The trillions of cells within him seemed to come alive all at once, vibrating with a strange hunger.

They were drinking in the sunlight.

They were evolving.

Deep within his body, Ethan could almost feel the sound of genetic chains breaking apart.

"It really is a surprise."

The changes were undeniable.

But one question still remained.

Where was he?

Ethan focused his vision and activated his enhanced sight. His perception extended far beyond the normal limits of human eyesight.

Endless ocean surrounded the land in every direction.

So it was an island.

Howl!

The sudden thunder of hooves interrupted his thoughts.

A horn sounded sharply across the distance.

Moments later, a group of cavalry burst across the grasslands, galloping toward him with incredible speed.

Cavalry?

In the modern world, the sight was almost ridiculous.

Ethan couldn't help raising an eyebrow.

But something else caught his attention.

Why were they all women?

Every rider charging across the field was female. Their posture was powerful and elegant, their simple armor outlining athletic bodies that moved with the grace of predators.

They rode their horses like leopards sprinting through the wild.

Not a single man appeared among them.

"I see."

Ethan smiled faintly.

"So this is Paradise Island."

He hadn't expected that his first arrival on Earth would land him in such a legendary place.

The island of the Amazons.

The homeland of Princess Diana—Wonder Woman herself.

Boom.

The ground trembled as the Amazon cavalry pulled their reins and surrounded him from every direction.

Their proud faces were filled with fierce determination. Each warrior held her head high like a noble swan while aiming a gleaming sword toward him.

"Enemy intrusion!"

Within seconds, dozens of Amazons had surrounded Ethan completely.

The Bifrost beam had been impossible to miss. Its arrival had immediately drawn their attention.

"Be careful," one of the warriors warned. "The magical energy around him is extremely strong."

"Everyone together! Stay alert!"

Swish.

The Amazons moved with perfect coordination.

In a single fluid motion, they drew arrows, raised their bows, and fired.

Hum.

The sky filled with sharp vibrations as hundreds of arrows shot forward simultaneously. The rain of projectiles descended toward Ethan like a deadly storm.

Ethan looked up calmly.

Then he sighed and blew out a breath.

The result was astonishing.

The air expelled from his lungs transformed into a terrifying hurricane. A violent gust roared outward, instantly blasting the incoming arrows back into the sky.

The entire barrage was scattered like dry leaves in a storm.

"This…"

The Amazons stared in disbelief.

He had created a hurricane with nothing more than his breath.

Even these seasoned warriors, who had witnessed countless strange things in their lives, found the sight unbelievable.

"For Paradise Island!"

"For the Amazons!"

"Charge!"

The horns sounded again, louder this time.

The Amazon warriors clearly considered Ethan a dangerous intruder. Their swords flashed as they spurred their horses forward for another attack.

Paradise Island had remained hidden from the outside world for thousands of years. Even satellites orbiting Earth could not detect its existence.

Ethan's arrival had shattered that secrecy.

Naturally, the Amazons reacted with extreme caution.

Ethan watched the charging cavalry and shook his head helplessly.

"I'll say this once," he said calmly. "I'm just passing through."

"I have no intention of invading Paradise Island. I'll leave shortly."

His voice remained steady.

"But if you keep pushing your luck," he added coldly, "don't blame me if I stop being gentle."

Ethan Drake was not a gentle man.

Thousands had died beneath his fists during his war against the Kree Empire alone.

Although his tone sounded calm, a terrifying pressure radiated from his body. A chilling killing intent spread outward like an invisible storm.

Animals sensed danger more easily than humans.

The horses reacted first.

Ethan's gaze swept across them lightly.

Instantly, the charging horses panicked. Their front hooves rose into the air as they screeched to a halt, throwing several riders from their saddles.

"Damn it," one Amazon muttered nervously. "This man has killed many people."

"And now he's threatening us."

"Stand aside."

A calm but commanding voice suddenly echoed across the battlefield.

The Amazon warriors parted slightly.

Their queen stepped forward.

Queen Hippolyta of Paradise Island approached alongside her royal guard, her gaze fixed firmly on Ethan.

"Are you from Asgard?" she asked cautiously.

"We have no quarrel with the people of Asgard."

She had clearly recognized the Bifrost beam and understood the nature of that magic.

But Ethan didn't get the chance to answer.

A violent wave of energy surged suddenly inside his eyes.

His vision turned crimson.

For a moment, everything around him blurred into red.

Ethan immediately understood what was happening.

Another new ability had awakened.
