Chapter 3 - chapter 3

Morning came again.

Daisy slowly woke up and stretched her arms from side to side as she sat up on her small bed. She took a deep breath before sliding down to her knees.

It was time to pray.

Her prayers were never long.

"Dear Lord," she whispered softly, "please go with me today. Lead me not into temptation and deliver me from all evil… especially people like Xavier. Thank you, Lord."

Immediately after the prayer, she smiled and made the sign of the cross.

Confidence was never something Daisy lacked. In fact, she was the only encouragement she had. Being an orphan was not something anyone would choose for themselves.

Life had made that choice for her.

And she had no option but to accept it.

Daisy stood up and headed toward the bathroom area to take her bath. Unfortunately, the place where she lived had no private bathrooms.

It was a public environment.

Behind the building was a small space fenced with abandoned blocks and rusty iron sheets. No one knew who originally built it, but everyone in the compound used it as a bathroom.

When Daisy arrived, she immediately sighed.

A long line had already formed.

People were waiting to take their baths.

And sadly… she was the last person in the queue.

Daisy checked the time and her heart sank. She had an important class that morning.

Waiting there would definitely make her late.

Frustration filled her chest. With disappointment written all over her face, she slowly turned back toward her small room.

Her heart felt heavy.

Sometimes life felt so unfair.

Without bathing, Daisy simply dressed up, packed her books, and prepared for the day.

Her next stop was Juliet's house, where she usually bought small chops to sell at school.

However, on her way there, another problem appeared.

She got into an argument with a taxi driver.

The man was trying to force her to pay more money than they had agreed on before she entered the taxi.

"This is exactly why I don't like using taxis," Daisy complained under her breath after leaving the car.

The distance she traveled wasn't even up to a thirty-minute walk.

Normally, she would never waste money on transportation, but she was already running late.

By the time she reached Juliet's place, Daisy was already exhausted and frustrated. But she knew her day wasn't even close to being over.

Juliet handed her the fresh small chops.

Daisy also paid for the ones she had taken the previous day.

"I'll return the rest as soon as today's sales are made," Daisy promised.

Juliet smiled and wished her luck.

Thankfully, Juliet's house was only about ten minutes away from the university, so Daisy quickly walked toward campus.

When she arrived, the lecture was about to begin.

Only five minutes remained.

Daisy hurried into the classroom and took her favorite spot — the second seat.
