Finallyyyyyy! The weekend is here.It seemed like it was never gonna arrive. Nichole was so happy since she was finally going to be free from bondage.
"Weekends are my only free and peaceful days, weekdays are hell, argh…." That she always says. During the weekends, she feels free of a burden; that burden was no other than Martino Brown, her mean boss. She hardly gets up early during her weekends since there was no need for that. She doesn't set alarms too. She just had to sleep to she is filled to the brim after which she goes for her morning routine, gyming, before attending to any other stuff she thought could be necessary. The fresh air she enjoys outside during her weekends was one of the things that kept her going.
"The seat of a secretary to her boss,Martino Brown was a suffocating one." She always says.
Still jogging slowly down the streets on her gym suit and her sneakers shoes, she was slowly becoming exhausted. She had branched towards the grocery store just by the left side of the road. She was going to have some barbecue and lettuce leaves and cabbage for breakfast. Walking into the grocery store, she had met a woman who was definitely in her 30's with her little daughter who was barely 2 years old. The girl looked so cute with her plumpy cheeks. That really took her back to her childhood days. She was so clingy to her mom just as the little girl was and followed her around too. The mother had a baby bump too. The girl had taken after her mom's elegance just as she also did.
"Heyyy buddie, what's up?" She had asked while bending towards the little girl.
"I'm good," the little girl had replied with a weird face.
"Who are you?" She asked her while staring quietly at her.
" I'm your new friend, little one." Nichole had replied.
"New…friend? She had asked while folding her hands and looking into her face.
"Yh," she had said.
"Heyyy, good day," the mother of the little girl had stepped into their conversation while patting her child's shoulders.
"That's a great child you have here," Nichole had said while making reference to the little girl.
"Yh,I know," the mom replied while patting her child's shoulders.
Just that,Nichole had lent her a helping hand by carrying the woman's shopping cart while allowing her to pick up her groceries and placing them into the basket. The little child was not left out too. She was also picking up what she definitely knows was important to them.
"She's so smart," Nichole had thought while in admiration of the child.
She was once everything the little girl was when she was still a child. Quietly, she had walked up to her and said,
"Buddie, what would you love to have in this grocery store? I would love to know." She said tenderly while patting her tiny, chubby face.
"Urmmm...., chocolates, candies, strawberries and a juicy drink won't be bad," the little girl said.
"Then, go pick them up and return to mummy." She quietly whispered into her face.
"Yuppie, thank you buddie." The little girl shouted in excitement. The mom, turning gently towards Nichole had said to her,
"thank you."
"It's all good. Seems you are done with picking up your groceries?" She asked out of concern.
"Yh,I am," she had replied.
Just then, the little girl was back, her face beaming with smiles. They were set to leave the grocery store. The mom had thanked her immensely while helping her to take the shopping cart to the stand where the payments and calculations of the goods will be made. There, she bade the little friend she had made for herself farewell. She had excused herself and had gone back to the grocery shelves to start her own shopping. It was really nice being outside. After she was done with her shopping, she had used the exit door while waving down a cab.
**********
Nichole had decided to stroll down the street to see her friend, Joseph Moore. Joseph was a store owner who sells books. Nichole usually visits his shop to read books whenever she was bored.
Unfortunately, getting there he was not around at the moment. She had gone to the nearby bar there. Quietly, she sat and asked the bar attendant to offer her soda drink. She also asked him to accompany the drink with some ketch-ups and chips. That was one of her favorite. The atmosphere was cool as everyone was outside. The whole place, silenced. One could actually hear the sound of a pin, bottles and even one's footsteps if there was any. Although people in the bar were not much, the music doesn't seem to be echoing out loudly. There were sights of empty seats in each stand.
Immediately, Nichole had stood up to leave. She had approached the bar attendant and asked for her bills. When being told, she had paid and left quietly. Once again, she had decided to check up on the bookstore.
"Maybe Joseph would be back by now." She had thought. He wasn't the type to leave his workplace though and for him to do so definitely signals that something urgent came up. Slowly, she had walked down the streets while having her headsets on.
Approaching the bookstore, she had sighted Joseph who was packing his car at a corner around the area.
"Could his car be the problem?" She was going to ask him though.
"Seems someone has issues with his car?" She had asked as she came closer.
"Not this car always taking up my finances." Joseph had replied.
"Heyyy, what's up with you?" Joseph had asked.
"I'm good, it's been a long time,Joe." Nichole replied.
"Coming from someone who abandoned me for her new job." Joseph had teased her while looking away.
"No wayyy...,you know I didn't do that,Joe." She said to him.
"I know, how is your new work going though?" He asked.
"Draining,yh,you know my boss is a very cold one who sees his workers as some piece of trash all because he finds himself on the top. I only have time to myself only during the weekends and that is why I'm definitely here. Weekdays is urghh...hectic. Yh,it is, because it's mostly all about work, work and workkk a million times, like,oh my goodness! My boss is a workaholic. Though the pay is good, but maybe, just maybe, I could have been administered into the hospital if not for that thing which keeps me going and besides, I have mom and Jack to take care of." She had concluded.
"I get you, Nichole, you will definitely be fine someday,ok?After the storm, the calm definitely comes. You are of great personality, Nichole. The strongest, courageous woman who have been through thick and thin. The one ho have gotten so much wounds and have been through pain and hurts but is never ready to give up. I am always rooting for you,Nichole." He had ended with those words of encouragement.
"Thank you,Joe,I appreciate you," she had replied him.
"He's always at it," Nichole said while smiling softly.
"I actually came around to see if you have any new book I can take home for today." Nichole said to him.
"Of course I do, though this isn't your regular, Nichole." Joseph had said in a teasing tone while rushing in to get it for her. The book was titled,
"IF YOU WANT IT,GO FOR IT."Just as Nichole got hold of the book, she had exclaimed,
"woahhh, this is dopeee! I love it already even though I am yet to know its contents. Joe,I think I will be on my way. I will see you around. And for this book, you will be having them next week.
"It's all good, Nichole.Make sure to eat well and stay healthy no matter what keeps popping up in your life. If it gets too hot that you can't hold on to your tears, my able bodied arms are always here waiting to console your tender heart,ok?You are and will always be a genius." He had concluded.
"Thank you Joe,byeee." Nichole had had said while crossing to the other side of the road.
"By…," Joseph had attempted to also bade her goodbye when he found out she had zoomed off.
"She never cease to surprise me," he had concluded.
