Chapter 40 - Chapter 40

If Otto had to describe Rita in three words, it would be.

My maid.

But why was his beautiful maid here? Why was she planted headfirst in the snow?

Otto was filled with questions. Then he noticed Rita's eyelids twitch.

He might as well ask her directly.

Otto knelt beside Rita, looking at the maid's closed eyes. He realized she wasn't wearing her familiar maid uniform but a dark purple formal gown.

She looked like a noble lady.

Otto, who had never seen Rita in any other outfit, found this novel. He remembered the alluring purple lace-up panties beneath her skirt.

His chest grew warm, but the view was gone now.

Rita was now lying flat, the beautiful scenery hidden beneath her gown.

One could only say that Newton was still resting peacefully in his coffin. Otherwise, Otto wouldn't have seen such a magnificent sight just moments ago.

But the image kept replaying in his mind. Combined with the faint, sweet fragrance lingering in the air, it made his throat tighten.

Adolescence is a stage of physical and mental turmoil, impulsive and sensitive, filled with curiosity about the opposite sex.

This is perfectly normal.

But Otto immediately forced himself to recall the data he had seen at Schicksal Headquarters. How beautiful the physics knowledge was, worthy of his companionship day and night.

Soon, his chaotic thoughts were suppressed, and the heat in his heart was extinguished.

But the lingering desire to embrace the girl did not fade.

Otto pressed his right hand to his face. What's wrong with me?

He felt a strange sense of closeness to Rita, an impulse to explore this girl more deeply.

It was as if they shared the same origin.

Back at Schicksal Headquarters, he had never had such thoughts about his beautiful maid.

Otto didn't know that just as Herrschers attract Herrschers, Quantum attracts Quantum.

As Otto's thoughts grew strange, he met a pair of beautiful wine-red eyes.

Lying in the snow, Rita opened her eyes and looked at Otto kneeling beside her.

"You're awake? Are you okay?"

Otto asked with concern. After all, in this strange world, he had finally seen a familiar face. This made him very happy, and his favorability toward Rita instantly shot up.

"I'm fine."

A somewhat cold voice escaped Rita's lips as she sat up from the snow, pressing her right hand to her forehead.

Her gaze swept over her dress, finding nothing out of place.

Rita closed her eyes for a moment. Her lips were still pale, as half her body had been buried in the snow just moments before.

She had thought she was really going to die.

To die in such an awkward position.

She turned to look at the blond man kneeling beside her. He had saved her. He was her savior.

He's so cute.

Maybe this man would look good in women's clothing?

Such an absurd thought flashed through her mind, but she couldn't help but imagine him in a green court dress.

If he really wore women's clothing, he would surely be a beautiful Lady Green Lily.

However, she suppressed these thoughts, not letting them show on her face. A perfectly crafted smile appeared on her lips.

"Thank you for saving me."

The girl thanked the boy, but she noticed he frowned in response.

Isn't a 'thank you' enough? What a greedy boy, unexpectedly. But besides myself, I don't seem to have anything suitable as a reward.

Myself... I definitely wouldn't give myself to a boy I've just met.

"Rita, what's wrong?" Otto asked, puzzled. Though Rita's tone was gentle, he could still sense a distance between them.

Rita, I'm your Lord Overseer! Why do we feel so estranged?

Otto held Rita in high regard, so her attitude stung him. He felt like a neglected child.

"Huh?"

Rita tilted her head, catching the intimacy in the blond man's words, as if she were his wife.

Even if you're cute, you can't just treat me like your wife, But...

Rita's slender hand rose, one finger pressing against her soft, cherry-like lips. The faint moisture glistened alluringly, and Otto felt as if he could smell the sweet fragrance between them.

Then, a look of sudden realization crossed her face. She clapped her hands together once.

The beauty with a face identical to Rita's parted her cherry lips. "Let me introduce myself. My name is..."

She paused briefly.

"Irene Adler."

She used a fake name.

Then she continued, "My face must look like someone you know, but I'm not that person."

Rita.. no, Irene explained.

"I'm not from this world. I stumbled into it by accident."

As she spoke, Irene stood up and patted the snow from her skirt. "Can you tell me your name?"

Not the same person?

Otto was completely bewildered. He had noticed differences between this Rita and the one he knew. His Rita was a short-haired beauty, while this girl calling herself "Irene" had hair that flowed down to her waist.

Her attitude toward him was also completely different.

This realization left Otto feeling a bit let down. But on second thought, it made sense. In this world, he had already encountered Sirin, who was identical to the Sirin from his own world. Finding someone similar to Rita was perfectly normal.

"My name is Alpha."

Otto didn't reveal his real name either.

But what truly concerned him was that Irene was also from another world. Did she know how to leave this one?

Otto was about to ask when he noticed Irene extending her right hand, offering him something.

It was the flower she had been wearing on the side of her head—rosemary. Even as a hair ornament, it remained fresh and vibrant, exuding a slightly strong fragrance.

"This is a thank-you gift for saving me."

"Wear it on the side of your head when you sleep. It will help you rest well."

As she spoke, Irene tapped her own forehead. It was a personal item, but she felt she had no other way to repay him for saving her life, so she chose this magical object.

"Well then, goodbye."

As she spoke, she lightly lifted her skirt hem, performed an elegant curtsy, and transformed into a shooting star, soaring into the sky.

"Wait...!"

Otto hadn't even asked how to leave this world before Irene took off. He could only watch her ascend, flying higher and higher, as if she were about to leave this world entirely.

'Won't she run out of oxygen?' The thought crossed Otto's mind. But since she was gone, he could only follow her with his eyes, watching her depart.

Encountering a girl identical to Rita would make for a good story back at Schicksal Headquarters.

He watched her, then noticed Irene's body, high in the sky, suddenly get swatted by an invisible giant hand.

Her body plummeted like a falling star, hurtling toward the ground.

BOOM!

Otto heard a thunderous crash. His vision was instantly obscured by a cloud of kicked-up snow. When it settled, his view cleared.

Otto saw it again.

The pale white legs in the snow, and the purple lace-trimmed panties.

He finally understood why Irene had ended up in that half-buried, head-first position.
