Fairy Tail: The Journey

Chapter 1

The evening sun painted the small town in warm orange light as a boy ran through the street, laughter echoing behind him. His footsteps were quick, but the girl chasing him was faster.

Kai glanced back with a grin as the red-haired girl sprinted after him, her face red with anger.

"Kai you basterd come here. How dare you tease me ?"

Kai burst out laughing, nearly tripping over his own feet.

"Bhahaha! Hay Erza I just asked you to marry me in future. No need to be so angry."

Erza's eyes narrowed dangerously as she grabbed a wooden stick from the ground. The nearby kids quickly moved aside, knowing trouble was coming.

"Kai!" she shouted again. "Stop running!"

Kai quickly raised both hands in surrender and stopped in the middle of the street.

"Ok i surender as an apology how about a Strobary cake?"

Erza froze mid-step. Her angry expression wavered for a moment before her eyes lit up slightly.

"Fine," she said after a pause, trying to keep her voice serious.

Kai tilted his head with a mischievous smile.

"Still you really not gonna marry me ?"

Erza instantly turned her face away with a small huff.

"Hmpf nope."

Kai clutched his chest dramatically and looked down like his heart had been shattered.

"Fine… Sorry for making you angry."

Erza blinked in surprise as his voice suddenly sounded quiet. She stepped closer, clearly unsure what to do.

"H-hay are you sad ?" she asked nervously.

Kai forced a small smile and rubbed the back of his head, pretending to act tough.

"No I'm fine."

Erza panicked even more seeing his expression. She started waving her hands in front of him.

"I-I didn't mean it like that! You idiot! I just—"

Kai suddenly burst out laughing.

"BahhahHah!"

Erza froze for a second before her face turned completely red.

"Kai you basterd. Baka, stupid, idiot!"

Kai kept laughing as he grabbed her wrist and started walking down the street.

"Alright alright, angry knight. Let's go eat cake before you destroy the town."

Erza tried to keep her angry expression, but the mention of cake weakened her resolve.

"If the cake is small I will beat you," she warned seriously.

Kai nodded dramatically.

"Of course Lady Erza. Only the biggest strawberry cake for my future wife."

Erza's face exploded red again.

"I said I'm not marrying you!"

"Not yet," Kai replied with a smug grin.

The two children soon reached a small bakery near the town square. The sweet smell of fresh bread filled the air as they sat by the window.

Kai ordered two slices of strawberry cake and pushed one toward her.

"Here. Peace offering."

Erza stared at the cake for a moment before taking a bite. Her eyes sparkled instantly.

"…Good."

Kai leaned back in his chair with a proud smile.

"See? I told you."

Erza continued eating quietly, clearly enjoying the dessert, though she still tried to look angry.

"You are still an idiot," she muttered between bites.

Kai chuckled softly.

"Yeah yeah."

After finishing the cake, the two walked slowly through the quiet streets as night began to fall. The town lamps flickered on one by one while children returned home.

Soon the small orphanage came into view at the end of the road.

Kai stretched his arms as they stepped inside the old building.

"What a day," he said lazily.

Erza crossed her arms and looked at him one last time.

"Next time don't say stupid things like marriage."

Kai smirked as he walked past her toward the sleeping room.

"Too late. I already decided."

Erza glared at his back but didn't reply.

The two soon lay down on their small beds after a long day of running, arguing, and eating cake.

Outside, the night grew quiet.

And somewhere in that quiet orphanage, the story of two children — and a long journey — had just begun.
