Chapter 5 - 4. A Splash of Pink

"You've been very quiet Xiao Chengyuan." Zhou Yiran, the king of Shuangyue said with a smile as he stared at his friend.

Chengyuan looked at him and sighed. True to his friends words, he's been quiet for a few days, ever since he saw that pink haired Omega in the woods, he'd been barely sane. But what was bothering him right now was the fact that he hadn't seen the omega again since that day.

It's been three days since he came to Shuangyue. The very first day was beautiful, all thanks to a magnificent omega that made his day. But the two days after that was quite gloomy, he'd gone back to the woods on both days and still couldn't sight the omega anywhere, not even a whiff of his scent.

He was determined to take the omega for himself, no matter what it takes. But how was he going to do that when he couldn't even find him?

Chengyuan sighed, looking at the food on his plate, which he had lost complete interest in, all because of an Omega.

"Chengyuan?" Yiran called his name again.

Chengyuan looked at his friend, perhaps Zhou Yiran might know of the omega he was looking for?

With that in mind, he leaned forward and asked in a whisper, "Do you know any pink haired Omega?"

Yiran gave him a look and sighed, chuckling to himself. Chengyuan frowned at the expression of his friend, confused. What's so funny?

"What's so funny, Yiran." He asked, voicing his thoughts.

Yiran gave him a look, as if he already knew all that was going on in his friend's head. One thing Yiran knows well about Xiao Chengyuan, was that the Alpha was very fond of omegas. And any one he could take, he would take them.

"Don't tell me the reason you've been down is because of an Omega." Yiran said.

Chengyuan just leaned back in his seat and have his friend an uninterested look. "Are you going to answer my question or not?"

"I don't know any pink haired Omega, Chengyuan. But I believe you will see quite a few if you explore my kingdom." Yiran said.

Chengyuan sighed again, and Yiran could already see the gears turning in his head. Truly, he didn't know of any pink haired Omega, omegas with pink hair aren't rare, but they're not common either. In a gathering of a hundred wolves, you would find at least 10.

"Or you could just wait till The Moon's Lament festival. Almost everyone will be present there, you could even find an omega of your choice." Yiran suggested.

"No. I already have eyes on one particular omega." Chengyuan shook his head with determination.

Yiran smirked at him. "So it's about an Omega. I guessed right." He drawled.

Chengyuan picked the silver cup on the table and gulped it's content. "You don't understand Yiran. I need to have him." He hissed.

"I think I understand." Yiran said with a smile. "I'll tell you what, on the Moon's Lament, there will be various groups of dancers, and eighty percent of them will be omegas, you might just be lucky to see this particular omega of yours amongst them."

A small smile tugged at the corner of Chengyuan's lips, he liked the sound of that. His omega.

Xiaochuan shuffled his feets at the entrance of the da ncing hall. He'd been mumbling to himself for the past ten minutes, practicing what he would say when he finally went in.

"Ni Hao. My name is Xiaochuan, I want to join your dancing group." He said, smiling to himself. Then he cringed and shook his head. "No no no no no. That's not it."

He cleared his throat and tried again. "Ni Hao, I'm Lin Xiaochuan, can I please join your dancing team?"

He replayed the words in his head few more times then sighed. That should do.

He was still gathering courage to go inside when a voice suddenly came from behind him. "What do you want."

"Ah!" Xiaochuan yelped, startling back and almost tripping on his feet.

"Ni Hao!" He yelled and closed his eyes in regret.

He peaked one eye open in embarrassment. Standing before him was a tall woman with a sharp, observant gaze and a calm aura. She was a Beta, Xiaochuan could tell with her neutral and steadying scent. She looked him up and down, noting his frayed clothes, thin frame, and the striking, unusual pink of his hair. She gave him a very small, amused smile.

"Ni Hao." She said softly. "Are you here to join the dancing group?" She asked.

Xiaochuan nodded stiffly. "Yes. I want to join the Cāng Yuè Wû Duì team." He breathed, looking over the woman's shoulder to see the omegas practicing inside. He had always had something for the Azure Moon Dance team. There were a lot of dancing teams in the kingdom, but he really liked this one.

The woman stepped aside, gesturing for him to follow. "I am Feiying. I lead this troupe. Come, let's see if you can keep up."

The studio was wide and polished, smelling of sweet scent of omegas and sweat. Twelve Omegas stood in a semi-circle, their chatter immediately died down the moment Xiaochuan stepped inside.

Feiying clapped her hands. "Listen up, we have a new candidate. This is Lin Xiaochuan."

A few dancers gave him polite, curious nods, but the atmosphere shifted instantly when a blonde Omega gave him a disgusting look. She moved towards him with a kind of grace that made Xiaochuan think that she might just be a princess. She looked at Xiaochuan's pink hair and curled her lip.

"Feiying, you can't be serious," She

said, her voice dripping with disdain.

"Our theme for the Moon Festival is Azure. We are the blue of the night sky, the silver of the moon. Look at him." She pointed a slim finger at his head. "That pink is a loud contrast. He'll stick out like a sore thumb in the formation. It ruins the aesthetic."

Xiaochuan bit his lip, his fingers curling into his palms. He felt the weight of the other dancers' stares on him. True to Feiying's words, of the 12 omegas that stood in the room. Four of them had platinum blonde hair, three of them had blue hair, though they were three different shades. And the rest were shades of black and browns.

Feiying turned, her gaze hardening as she looked at Yuanli. "This is my dance team, Yuanli. I am the one who decides who ruins a formation and who makes it."

She turned back to Xiaochuan, her eyes challenging. "She is right about one thing though, you will stick out. So you had better be good enough to make that contrast look intentional. Now get in the center and show me why I shouldn't throw you out right now."
