Cracks in the Glass
The bright white light pierced my glowing red eyes. It was blinding.
Solare brought me around as if I were a luggage bag. She thought that separating Noctira, Reaver, and me would make us respect her.
I leaned against the silver railing around the specimens captured two days ago. One was already dissected while the others remained still.
Their insides looked brittle despite the crystal growths. Weak creatures imitating strength.
I had seen better ones—tougher like the Rowindas or Jagpur that inhabited Zionalma.
They put on better fights than these dissected creatures.
The muddling genius stood beside Solare, discussing something I would rather not pay attention to.
Thanks… pleasure… First Elder… said so…
Boring…
I rolled my eyes before looking away.
Not once did they even glance at me as if I were irrelevant.
The laboratory door slid open revealing a sturdy woman in scarlet suit next to the tall and lean woman in black and orange suit: Agile Eye and the tiger girl.
Agile joined Solare, engaging in the conversation while the tiger girl stood nearby, arms crossed. She always stood just behind Agile.
Pathetic.
She was never alone. Always with those awful other GOU members. Coven or the thin guy that didn't know when to shut up—Aureolo or something.
I recalled they were close to each other.
This tiger girl was the one who dared switch the lights off while I was training a few weeks ago.
Susztane*.
Darkness filled the room that day. I broke the treadmill handle then. No one questioned me.
My fingers curled on the railing subconsciously, bending it immediately.
My eyes glowed darker the longer I stared at her.
The orange stripes of her suit, the leather clinging to her form, and that confidence she carried in her walk.
She was under Agile's protection.
But for how long?
Snap.
The railing snapped, turning everyone's attention towards me.
Solare's gaze questioned me… warning me while the rest watched.
I bent the metal more until it formed a tight 'c' before tossing it to the ground.
THUD!
I glared at each and every one of them behind my black matte mask. I turned around and cast one last glance at the tiger girl. Her beaded black eyes locked with my piercing red eyes.
Protection never lasted forever, tiger girl.
