"No one doubted the facts that British and western interest in Iraq stemmed from its wealth in oil . Britain never wanted to release its hold on Iraq, its oil supply was too vital. But forces opposing to their rule and the rule of their puppet monarch had emerged . Pan-arab nationalism , anti-imperialism ,anti-British sentiment and the rise of communism."

"At this time economic inequality further strained the nation. During the regency period Prince Abdal ilah had signed an agreement with Britain in 1948, a very controversial agreement that permitted the British to continue to maintain a military presence in Iraq seemingly forever and this was confirmed by king Faisel the second in 1955 when he rubber stamped the agreement. This was not popular, huge iraqi protests erupted across the country. The British wanted to keep control over Iraq's absolutely vital oil fields , growing economic inequalities between the rich elite around the king and the rest of the country led to increasing communist activity in Iraq and not only so the rest of the Arab states were in social turmoil, revolt against imperialism was imminent."
"In 1952 the Egyptian monarchy had been overthrown by a radical pan arabist army officer, Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser . In 1956 Nasser had boldly nationalized the Suez canal to keep all of its revenues for Egyptian development , but the canal's owners, Britain and France immediately launched an invasion of Egypt to regain control. An invasion that also saw the new state of Israel capturing Sinai.
Inside Iraq the Suez crisis and its outcome generated popular revulsion for the 1948 Baghdad Pact that had given Britain the right to garrison Iraq , and though he hadn't actually negotiated the pact personally King Faisal the Second had signed it on the regent's advise so many Iraqi's began to see the young king as apart of the problem instead of a solution.
In February 1957 an opposition group was formed called the Front for National Union, it included National Democrats , Independents, Communists and members of the Ba'ath party and the Socialist Pan Arab Political Group. Basically a bunch of baying wolves waiting at the kings door prowling for the first signs of weakness to come in and come it did.

"Yes we can all agree that Iraq was in a down turn at the time of the regent and king Faisal the second's rule . It was a classist society only those that had ties to officials and had the right connections were making a proper living , the common people which was the majority were basically miserable and in many cases suffering. This dire strait of social unrest would then come to an end . Colonel Qasim a military officer and other fellow officers who followed in revolt overthrew Faisal who had eventually been murdered and was thrown in a shallow grave. The killers were never identified or revealed, but some speculated on who gave the order for the monarch's death. "
"Qasim's regime though would be different , he brought about a new start for the common Iraqi people, but just as he was loved for his social programs and starting the flame for the Iraqi economy , he was just as hated! The pro Arab unionists and the Ba'ath Party grew to hate the man just as they hated Faisal but they couldn't make any public moves against him or the common people would have turned against them, so instead they opted for assassination. There were speculations of Soldat's involvement in Qasim's death , but such speculations had died in its cradle as many began to fear the rising officer just as many to began to love him"

Our nation under God should have been the greatest within this hemisphere. We shall once more endeavor to become the greatest the Arab world has ever seen , yet before we begin such a arduous journey many of us have forgotten our history. So stuck in our old ways that the new ones have ridden pass us and we are doing our best to catch up"

Hearts and minds he thought . The lie was the most useful tool man created after fire.
"As you wish Sir" the middle aged man only nodded his head . Ahmed Sahrin a local radio station owner and a fanatic to Soldat's cause , he was one of the few out of many station owners that Soldat had paid personal visits to.
A government controlled media , well yes it would be, but not all radio stations were censored and watched just some of the main ones. People had freedom of speech yes but to what degree should their speech be free, just like him there were many that used the media to tell lies for their benefit . And if their lies had effects in undermining his efforts then they'd posed a risk.
Controlling information played a big role in moving towards his future plans. Knowledge was power and with a network to broadcast whatever he wished nationwide and even to neighboring countries , this was another major step forward.

Soldat remained silent for a moment , he was contemplating .
Though he had created a Special Forces division for dealing with national tasks and foreign that couldn't be known to even key government officials . He had had also created a undocumented sub organization called TS9 which would carry out unethical duties which would benefit the state and also him.
TS9 had groups for intelligence , Assassination & Combat roles , subterfuge, research and last but not least finance. Not the typical finance of a day to day nation no . TS9 was creating means to gather/ earn money for Iraq through illegal means and channels.
And one of those illegal means were through drug smuggling .Marijuana and Opium farmers had been hired by Soldat's command , some who already had secluded farms Up North Iraq close to if not near the banks of the Euphrates river . These farmers were taken in Soldat's employ and their farms were already expanding to cultivate a new plant. The Coca Plant which would make the infamous Cocaine.
Pablo Escobar dubbed the king of cocaine had amassed a net worth of $30-$70 billion Usd by the time of his death in a matter of years. If a man with only his sense of wit from the dredges of the south American jungle could acquire such wealth he'd imagine he could triple that which Escobar made with the resources he had on hand.
And not only would selling the product benefit him , it would also make his enemies weaker, consumers of their product would slowly yet surely put a dent in the economy of their country if not a pause. The justice system might be overburdened through the consequences of drug sales and the crime which followed , the health care system would be constrained and economic productivity would dwindle along with environmental destruction .
An immoral plan yes but he took a page from Britain's book when they did the same if not worst to the china.
