Mark and Yuki made their way through the dense forest, moving farther and farther away from the safety of their own dungeon.
The terrain was uneven, covered with twisted roots and vegetation so thick that barely any sunlight reached the ground.
Mark walked with the history book tucked under his arm, occasionally glancing sideways at the woman accompanying him.
Yuki moved with an unnatural grace; her feet barely made any sound on the dry leaves, while her gaze constantly scanned their surroundings.
'It's strangely relaxing traveling with her.'
Yuki didn't constantly try to get his attention. She didn't ask every five minutes if he was okay or if he needed anything.
She simply walked beside him.
'This is… nice.'
Still, Mark decided to break the silence, more out of habit than necessity.
"The forest is pretty dense, don't you think?" he asked, looking up at the treetops.
"Yes," Yuki replied curtly, without even turning her head toward him.
Mark simply nodded to himself.
