Chapter 12 - Contract Destroyed

/Third Person POV\

-Vero Family Main Estate-

The giant home was surrounded by guards. Some wore the Sparrow family emblem but majority sported the Vero families crest.

Inside the home there were fewer guards but they gave off a stronger presence.

The strongest among the guards stood in front of a meeting room.

Inside the large meeting room four individuals sat at a table. In the middle of the table was a thick set of papers with a lot of words on it.

On one side of the table there was a middle aged man with short black hair and a beard. He sat upright in his chair and his body exuded strength and confidence.

Next to him sat a young man, he had similar hair but no beard. He was slouched in his chair and only stared fixedly at the young woman seated opposite of him.

The woman had long purple hair and had her eyes closed.

"Alexia! Show Mr. Vero your respect!" The man seated next to her shouted.

He had medium length brown hair, reaching just up to his shoulders.

Alexia opened her eyes and looked at the man next to her in annoyance.

"It's fine, Zavier. And please, we're here to discuss the harmony of our families, call me Noah." Zavier smiled and his displeasure at his daughters attitude lessened.

"Now, Daniel is excited and wants to have this marriage done as soon as possible. We have decided on two months from now as the perfect date. We can announce our merger at the next conference." Noah spoke, every word making Alexia more and more upset.

She looked at everyone in the room with hatred but calmed herself down.

"Father-in-law is there any problems with this?" Daniel spoke, an innocent smile on his face as he looked at Zavier.

He was close to getting what he wanted and he couldn't be happier.

"Not at all! My daughter may be a little stubborn but don't worry, she'll come around to it quickly. Haha!" Zavier laughed, patting his leg as his worries eased. His position and future status is secured.

"I feel the same way. I haven't seen my daughter in quite awhile, she's being rebellious again." Noah thought about his daughter, anger at her refusal to listen to his demands.

The two men stood up, getting ready to shake hands and finalize the agreement before something happened.

*THUD*

*BOOM*

The door burst open as a man wearing black with a V inscribed on his clothing flew into the room.

He crashed into the table, unconscious.

From the dust at the doorway two figures emerged and started walking into the room.

"Who dares!?" Everyone's guard immediately went up.

Noah's aura flared and Daniel hid behind him.

Zavier stood up, flaring his aura as well though it was a little weaker than Noah's.

Alexia turned towards the door but didn't stand up, just stared at the intruders in confusion as she felt something familiar in one of them.

"I dare! Your grunts tried to stop me from entering my own home!" The dust cleared and the intruders face became visible.

A frail old man with long white hair. He was followed by a young woman with medium length black hair in a bun. She shared a resemblance with Noah, Daniel, and the old man.

"F-f-father! Y-you shouldn't be out of bed! Sierra, why would you drag your grandfather here?!" Noah saw the face of the man and his heart stopped. He immediately went hostile and blamed the woman next to his father, his own daughter.

Sierra just looked at him and laughed. Scanning the room her eyes landed on the woman with purple hair and unbeknownst to her, jealousy flashed through her eyes.

Alexia caught it and a small smile formed on her face as she became interested in the situation. She didn't feel any threat against her so she wasn't on guard.

"Lord Vero! How great to see you in good health" Zavier was confused, he heard from Noah that his father was pretty much dead. So why was he here now?

If Noah loses his position as head of the family then Daniels position is in jeopardy as well. All of his plans will go down the drain then.

Lord Vero looked around in disgust. His son started acting completely different once he took over. He was disappointed in both his seed and grandson.

He kept eyeing the people in the room, looking at Zavier the feeling of disgust rose, the man so willing to sell his daughter off for a bit of status.

Finally he looked at Alexia and was intrigued. She didn't look at him with fear or reverence, rather he saw a strong curiosity in her gaze.

With this, an idea formed in his mind.

He looked away, moving to the main chair at the middle of the table and sat down, Sierra walking right next to him to support.

He could move just fine on his own but was happy with his granddaughters care.

"Please, sit down everyone. I have a few things to discuss." He gestured to the seats and they listened, waiting with bated breath.

"Not too long ago I was lying down close to death, when my granddaughter brought a very interesting young man to me." Nobody spoke, just listened.

"He healed me. A rare healing physique, revealed himself to Sierra and came to heal me. And the reward he wanted was—" Before he could continue he was interrupted.

"Come on father, that's incredibly suspicious! Why would someone with such a rare physique come heal you for nothing? He definitely has ulterior motives!" Noah yelled, multiple emotions running through him. He knew his fathers values and he knew he messed up.

"As I expected. But no, all he asked was for me to do one thing."

*Snap*

*Tear*

He snapped his finger and the contract on the table was ripped apart by his aura.

Everyone in the room except Sierra was shocked by this.

It wasn't the only copy of the contract, but the symbolism was enough for everyone to understand what he meant.

The contract was null and void.

Noah's anger flared, he didn't care much about the actual marriage, he just wanted to spoil his son and maybe absorb the Sparrow family. But he couldn't stand the blow to his pride.

Daniel on the other hand was confused and upset. Who would want the contract destroyed? Why couldn't he get his way? Questions kept going through his mind.

Alexia was also surprised. Her mind was spinning as she was thinking about everything.

When the old man first entered the room she faintly felt the presence of someone she knew attached to him, though it was minuscule.

It was Akashic, she was sure of it. And now that more has been explained she figured that after Akashic had healed the old man, it left a bit of a mark.

She didn't know how she sensed him or when he even awakened but everything that was happening raised her hopes about the future and her own special physique.

As well as some promises of the past…

She couldn't wait until this was over so she could speak to him.

Meanwhile, Zavier felt sick, he couldn't believe everything was coming down around him.

"This marriage is no longer happening. I apologize for the pressure my family has placed on you, Ms. Sparrow." Alexia stopped thinking for a second and stood up.

"Thank you, Lord Vero. And, Alexia is fine." She didn't like to be connected to the Sparrow name.

"You can call me Silas. Please accompany my granddaughter for a little while, I have much to discuss with my son." Silas smiled and everyone began to exit after hearing that.

'Hopefully she gets along well with Sierra. With my actions today, she should feel comfortable with us. That kid definitely values her heavily, so if she is on good terms with us, he should follow.' Silas thought, excited at the possible new recruit.

"Take him out as well." Silas pointed at the guard on the ground. Daniel nodded and began to drag him by his shirt collar.

As the last ones left, the door closed and Silas stared at his son in anger.

~

While Noah was getting yelled at, Sierra and Alexia made their way to another room and sat down.

The atmosphere was pretty calm as they remained quiet.

No one said anything, they just sat there.

But Sierras mind was racing with questions, so she began to ask them.

Simple questions really. How'd you meet Akashic, how long have you known each other, what was he like.

She continued asking very specific questions about Akashic but didn't notice the kind of questions she asked or why.

Alexia just looked at her and thought about things, answering whatever she could.

"You know so much about him! How long have you two known each other?" Sierra was confused, she thought they met in high school, since that's when Akashic said he met Daniel.

"A long time…" Alexia started speaking before trailing off, continuing in her thoughts.

'Longer than he remembers…'

Something they didn't know was that there was someone outside the door, listening in, growing angrier and angrier the longer the topic remained on Akashic.

It was Daniel, clenching his fist and gritting his teeth at the situation.

In just a few minutes he lost a perfect woman and was embarrassed, now his sister and his fiancée are in the room going on and on about one of the men he hates most.

'That piece of shit, I knew he'd become a problem eventually!" Daniel didn't 100% know if he had anything to do with the marriage contract being destroyed, he was just looking for someone to blame and take his anger out on.

Why not the person he despises most?

Even if he didn't kill him, he could threaten his life to make Alexia fall in line.

'Deep breaths, Daniel. Just be a little more patient. Once father gets the situation with grandfather settled, I'll have power back. And once Sierra marries that Sky family brat I'll be unstoppable! What Alexia? What Akashic? They'll be nothing to me then.' Daniel calmed himself down, choosing to wait instead of acting rashly.

'I'll ask mother, she can look into this Akashic kid for me! I want to know everything about him before I try to kill him.' Daniel moved away from the door, thinking about the day he kills Akashic and finally beds Alexia, a large smile on his face as he walked outside, going to find his brothers.
