[A Few Days Later — Marine Headquarters]
For the past few days, Reno had been quietly staying inside the small house.
It wasn't that he didn't want to stir up trouble. It was that an old bastard next door was watching him all the time, leaving him no chance to do anything.
Originally, Reno thought that after arriving at Marine Headquarters, he could flirt with some female Marines. After all, there were plenty of beauties.
Unfortunately, things didn't go his way.
Lying lazily in the courtyard, Reno turned his head toward the balcony next door, where Monkey D. Garp was crunching donuts.
He shouted,
"Hey, old bastard Garp, you watch me all day long. Don't you have anything better to do?"
"Hahaha!"
Garp burst out laughing.
"Of course I have something to do. My job is to watch you and make sure you don't cause trouble for Marine Headquarters!"
Originally, Sengoku had asked Garp to monitor Reno secretly.
But Garp didn't like doing things behind the scenes, so he simply sat on the balcony every day and watched Reno openly.
Seeing this, Reno didn't dare act rashly.
His check-in mission wasn't complete yet. Acting now would only cause unnecessary trouble.
He rolled his eyes and said,
"I'm just a seven-year-old kid. Is it really necessary for the great Hero of the Marines to personally watch me?"
Garp stopped laughing.
He looked at Reno seriously and said,
"A normal seven-year-old wouldn't need me. But do you think you're normal?"
Garp wasn't joking.
He could feel danger from Reno.
It was the kind of danger he felt when facing someone at his own level.
His instincts had never been wrong.
Although Reno's aura only seemed to be at the level of a Rear Admiral, that faint sense of danger made Garp cautious.
Reno rolled his eyes again and replied,
"I'm just an ordinary kid. You Marines should have investigated me already. Sure, I have some strength, but compared to someone like you, I'm nothing."
"So you guys are just overreacting. Why doesn't Sengoku send all the Marine powerhouses to watch me too?"
"Overreacting?"
"Hahahaha!"
Garp laughed again.
"You're right. I could beat a hundred of you with one hand. Maybe Sengoku really is overthinking things."
Although he said that, Garp was thinking something else entirely.
Strength wasn't just about physical aura.
Devil Fruit abilities couldn't be judged that way.
In his eyes, Reno likely possessed some extremely dangerous ability.
Otherwise, how could someone at that level make him feel threatened?
Reno, unaware of Garp's thoughts, continued chatting while thinking of a way out.
If he couldn't break free from this situation and scout ahead, then once his check-in mission was complete, he would have to leave Marineford empty-handed.
That was not what he wanted.
While thinking, Reno suddenly glanced at Garp.
His eyes lit up.
Garp was the father of Monkey D. Dragon.
And Dragon had just left the Marines recently.
Not only were the Marines looking for him, Garp likely was too.
A faint smile appeared on Reno's face as he said,
"Old man Garp, before I got sent flying here, I didn't just meet that big guy."
"I also met someone recently wanted by the World Government."
He sold Dragon out without hesitation.
Garp immediately caught the meaning behind those words.
Recently, there had only been one bounty issued directly by the World Government.
Dragon.
Suppressing the turmoil in his heart, Garp asked calmly,
"Oh?"
"Who else did you meet? And where did you see them?"
Reno scratched his head, pretending to think.
"I remember he had a long face."
"Don't remember the name though."
"He wasn't my target anyway. If I hadn't seen his bounty, I wouldn't even know he was wanted."
He glanced at Garp.
The old man still looked completely indifferent.
Reno smirked inwardly.
Let's see how long you can keep pretending.
Garp, on the other hand, was already getting anxious.
But he kept his expression calm and asked again,
"You don't remember the name, fine."
"But you remember where you saw him, right?"
Reno grinned.
"That guy's bounty is pretty high."
"I'm not giving information for free."
"I'm a bounty hunter."
"No profit, no action."
"You know how it works."
Originally, Reno had only planned to lure Garp away by giving him the information.
But after thinking about Dragon's bounty, he immediately changed his mind.
Selling the information sounded much better.
Garp's expression darkened.
"Fine."
"What do you want?"
Reno pretended to think for a moment before saying,
"I'm a bounty hunter."
"So of course I want Beli."
"Just give me… eight to ten billion."
Garp's face instantly turned as dark as the bottom of a pot.
"That bastard's bounty is only five billion, and you want ten billion for information?"
"Why don't you just go rob someone?!"
The previously calm Garp instantly broke his composure.
