Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 — Result Day

The entire class gathered in silence as the results were announced.

The PT teacher unfolded the sheet.

"Ayasaku — First Position."

Applause filled the room.

"Abane — Second Position."

More clapping.

"Juli — Third Position."

Whispers of admiration spread across the class.

Reh San quietly lowered his head, waiting for the inevitable.

"…Reh San — Fourth from last."

His eyes widened slightly.

I… didn't come last?

For the first time, relief washed over him.

Then came the final name.

"Foji Gori — Last Position."

The classroom instantly erupted.

According to school rules, the last student had to run thirty rounds of the yard and clean it afterward.

Begin immediately," the teacher ordered.

Foji Gori's face twisted with anger.

"This happened because of Reh!" he shouted.

"He distracted me! I'll deal with you later…"

Reh froze.

Before he could respond, Abane leaned toward him with a smirk.

"Congratulations, loser. Luck saved you today."

Reh blinked. "Thanks… but for what?"

Abane chuckled.

You'll find out soon enough."

A few classmates passed by.

"Wow, Reh. You didn't come last today."

"…Yeah. Thanks."

But instead of happiness, an uneasy feeling settled in his chest.

From across the ground, Foji Gori stared at him.

Not with anger.

With revenge.

The school grounds were almost empty.

The sun was setting, painting the sky orange.

"Oi, Reh! Come here."

Reh stopped.

Foji Gori stood near the back gate, anger burning in his eyes.

"This is all because of you," Foji growled.

"Because of you I had to suffer today."

Reh stepped back nervously.

"But… I didn't do anything. Please, just let me go."

Foji didn't listen.

His fist slammed into Reh's stomach.

"AH—!"

Another punch.

Then another.

Reh fell to the ground as kicks rained down on him.

Pain spread through his entire body.

"Remember this," Foji spat before walking away.

Reh somehow dragged himself home.

He said nothing to his family.

No complaints.

No tears.

He quietly lay down on his bed.

His body hurt… but his heart hurt more.

Why does everything always happen to me…?

His vision slowly faded.

Darkness swallowed him.

When Reh opened his eyes again—

He wasn't in his room.

Endless white light surrounded him.

"Huh…? Where am I…?"

A calm, echoing voice filled the space.

"I am a God."

Reh's breathing stopped.

"And you… are about to die."

Fear gripped him instantly.

"No… please!" Reh shouted.

"My family needs me! If I disappear, how will they survive? I still have to do something for them!"

The light remained silent for a moment.

Then it spoke again.

"You cannot protect anyone with such a weak body."

"But…"

"I will offer you a deal."

The light brightened.

"In exchange for your death… I shall grant your family a new life. I will personally take responsibility for their future."

Reh trembled.

Family… safety… survival…

After a long silence—

"…I accept."

The light responded softly.

That's all
