She shook her head and said her only name in a calm voice.
"Lyar."
Jack raised an eyebrow.
"What Lyar?"
She hesitated before giving him a small smile.
"Just Lyar."
Jack shrugged.
"That's fine."
'After seeing me talk casually to the director of this hospital…perhaps she wanted to hide her identity... whatever.' he thought.
He didn't question her further then he take out phone from his pocket and asked her in a natural tone.
"Tell me your parents or friends' contact information so I can tell them your condition."
Lyar hesitated because she was one who ran away from home in the first place now how could she call them.
Jack saw her moment then sigh after seeing her hesitation.
"Fine, no need to give information to me. I paid all the fees so you can stay here for the night. My card, contact me if you need anything."
He didn't ask any questions again after knowing that she was trying to hide.
He didn't ask any questions about her family or who the guys were and why they're chasing her.
No curiosity about her wealth.
No attempt to impress her.
After that he left that room.
Back at Westbridge International University
Lyar slowly returns to the present; she looks outside through the window again.
Jack was still outside laughing with several students after finishing his training.
A small smile unconsciously appears on her face.
'After seeing him again my heart is beating fast. So, that's why…I couldn't forget him.' she thought.
The professor noticed that she was distracted from the lecture and looking outside the window then he called out her name.
"Lyar Harper."
The professor looked at her with a serious expression.
"Are you paying attention?"
Lyar glanced toward the board then toward Jack one last time.
"...Yes."
But deep inside...
Her attention was no longer on the lecture.
It was on the boy who had helped her that night—
Without ever knowing that the injured girl was standing in the middle of the road...
Was actually Lyar Harper, the heiress of one of the country's most powerful families.
Ryan sat quietly in the front row but after listening to the professor scolding Lyar. He turned his head to look at her and followed her eyes, she was looking outside the window.
'I think their love story starts,' he thought.
In the original novel Lyar Harper was the main female lead who had a fight with her father. So, she ran away from home and some bodyguard was chasing her but she managed to slip away, dodging them all, though she sustained some minor injuries in the process.
And Lucas Reed was the main male lead who was insulted by Adrian's friends in the party. He goes home alone where he meets Lyar. He saves her from the bodyguard then treats her injuries.
This was their first meeting and would eventually become the beginning of one of the most important romances in the story.
Then both of them became destined lovers.
Ryan looked at Lyar again.
"So it's finally happening."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"She's looking at Lucas."
The moment he had entered this world.
He was living life like a normal person and interacting with other characters like Ethan, Jack, Sophia and Lucas' script of the novel has started changing because in the original script he didn't have any interaction with them.
But Ryan made one mistake: he hadn't realized that the person standing outside wasn't Lucas.
It was Jack the Second lead of the novel.
That night when Adrian hosted a party for Lucas where he humiliated him but Ryan stood for Lucas this change in the original story line of the novel.
Now Jack and Ryan both of them are not present in this original 'party' plot.
After the party ended Adrian's plan failed due to Ryan's existence in the novel that's why he had taken Lucas home directly from a different route.
That single decision had changed something that Ryan hadn't anticipated.
Lucas wasn't there.
Jack was.
And Ryan had no idea that several days earlier, Jack had already met Lyar on that dark road.
The person she was watching wasn't Lucas.
Ryan leaned back slightly.
"Interesting..."
He had changed the story without even realizing it.
