Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Devil Fruit

Raiden Ei didn't suspect anything and followed it to a cave that clearly looked like the Gorillas' nest, where many Gorillas of various sizes were present.

The smell in this cave was truly foul. If she didn't want to know what this Gorilla was trying to tell her, she would never have come to such a place.

Deep inside the cave, the Gorilla gestured for Raiden Ei to look at a large chest piled in a corner. The chest was a bit battered, but the skull on it was still visible; the Gorilla had obtained it from that shipwreck.

Raiden Ei motioned for the Gorilla to open the chest. She was also a bit expectant, after all, it was like opening a treasure chest... Upon opening it, the first thing she saw in the corner was a banana with strange patterns.

Devil Fruit is what people in this world call it; eating it grants certain superpowers. Devil Fruits are divided into three main categories: Logia type, Paramecia-type, and Zoan type.

Although a Devil Fruit grants the eater powerful abilities, the side effect is becoming a non-swimmer unable to swim.

The extent to which a Devil Fruit's ability can be utilized depends on the user's own strength. The Goro Goro no Mi she mentioned last night is a Logia type-type Devil Fruit.

Raiden Ei hadn't expected to see a Devil Fruit so soon. Judging by its shape, it should be a Zoan type-type Devil Fruit. Although she didn't need it, she could see if the system could convert it into energy.

Raiden Ei no longer minded the chest being dirty. She picked up the Devil Fruit, looked at it, and handed it to the Gorilla. The Gorilla waved its hands in a gesture of refusal. She was just asking if it still wanted this Devil Fruit, since it was its possession after all.

Although it would be strange for an animal to eat a Zoan type-type Devil Fruit, seeing the Gorilla wave its hands in refusal, Raiden Ei put the Devil Fruit into her backpack.

Shifting her gaze to the chest, it contained everything: gold, jewelry, Berries, spatulas, kitchen knives, and even a frying pan. She simply took the entire chest.

She didn't want to stay in this cave for another second; the smell was far too strong. These Gorillas must definitely be handling their physiological needs right in this cave.

Raiden Ei hurriedly packed the chest, waved goodbye to the Gorilla, and dashed out of the cave. Standing in the woods, she felt much better, though a strange smell seemed to have clung to her.

Raiden Ei had to suppress the urge to check the system for now and walked quickly toward the water source she discovered yesterday. Fresh water only accumulates in hollow terrains, so by searching against the direction of the water flow, she could find the source.

After half an hour of searching and crossing half the forest, she finally found the head of the water source on a high ground.

It was a spring. A pool surrounded the spring, and the water overflowed the pool, flowing in all directions. The surrounding trees were even more lush, blocking most of the pool, so there were many fallen leaves in it.

Raiden Ei looked at the surrounding scenery and the clear fresh water in the pool: "Such clear water. There are still many small animals around here. In the One Piece world, animals might even become spirits. For the sake of a body I haven't even seen myself, I'll have to trouble you all."

To avoid being seen by small animals while bathing, Raiden Ei activated her Conqueror's Haki. The small animals collapsed one after another, and even the small fish in the pool turned belly up, floating on the surface, letting the current wash them away.

After observing that there was no movement around, she took off her clothes one by one. Although she had been a girl before, she still blushed when she saw her current body...

An hour later...

Raiden Ei put on her dried clothes, her hair was loose and her face was still a bit red. She sat on a large Shitou by the pool, multi-tasking by re-braiding her hair while opening the system panel with her consciousness. (The bath was quite stimulating; she had almost forgotten about the Devil Fruit.)

energy conversion system

Initial Panel:

Energy: 0

Raiden Shogun

Age: 0

constitution: 6 + (50000)

Armament Haki: 0 + (100)

Observation Haki: 0 + (100)

Conqueror's Haki: 1 + (10000)

Backpack: Kusanagi no Inabikari, Devil Fruit, broken chest

Raiden Ei glanced at her stats, which hadn't changed, and then focused her consciousness on the backpack. The items in the backpack manifested in her mind.

(Kusanagi no Inabikari: 10927, Devil Fruit: 3000, broken chest: 5)

Raiden Ei was a bit dissatisfied: "Is a Devil Fruit only worth three thousand energy points? That seems a bit low... And the things in the chest have no value at all!"

As soon as Raiden Ei expressed the thought of converting the Devil Fruit and the chest into energy to the system, both disappeared, and the energy on the panel showed 3005 points.

Looking at the 3005 energy points she had obtained, Raiden Ei thought about how to use them: "I'll upgrade Armament Haki and Observation Haki first. For now, Elemental Power must be saved for emergencies, and the rest isn't enough for another level, so I'll put it all into Haki."

Operating on the system panel with her consciousness:

(Armament Haki: 100, 500; Observation Haki: 100, 500)

After upgrading both Armament Haki and Observation Haki to level two, Raiden Ei felt two additional forces in her body that she could utilize. She reached out and channeled the power into her hand; her arm was immediately covered in black Armament Haki (it's shown as black here, though Armament Haki is actually invisible).

She tossed her braided hair back, placed her Armament Haki-covered hand on the large Shitou she was sitting on, and pressed down slowly. Cracks appeared in the Shitou. She withdrew her hand, a faint smile appearing on her face; she finally had all three types of Haki.

"Since Armament Haki is so strong, what about Observation Haki? There's nothing here to test it on; I'll go find the Gorilla later to experiment."

"Now that I have all three types of Haki, it's time to prepare to set sail. There isn't even anyone to talk to here."

Raiden Ei stood up, put on her stockings and shoes, tidied her clothes, checked if she had missed anything, and walked toward the Gorilla.

Raiden Ei suddenly found her perception had become very sharp. Closing her eyes to sense her surroundings, a ripe fruit happened to fall from a tree, heading straight for her.

Sensing something falling toward her, she quickly dodged. In her perceived world, the fruit fell exceptionally slowly.

"Thud?" The fruit hit the ground.

Raiden Ei reached out and picked up the ripe fruit, thinking: "Is this Observation Haki? It feels like I can sense any incoming attack."

In a great mood, Raiden Ei tucked the fruit away, preparing to find the Gorilla to practice. Little did she know, the Gorilla was currently happy, thinking it had used something it didn't want to send that two-legged beast away.
