Chapter 17 - MAKING FRIEND

Miss Mina Daper concluded the lecture and allowed the students a 30-minute break. After the break, she would continue with the second lecture.

Harry was a little disappointed. He softly muttered to himself,

"I couldn't find the solution in this lecture… not even a hint or clue. This is going to be hard."

He looked through his notes for a moment and then closed his notebook.

Soon Ethan walked over to him.

"Did you like the lecture?" Ethan asked.

Harry shrugged slightly. "Kind of. I was just wondering… Aetherbound have such a huge history and so many varieties of abilities. Then why are they bothering themselves with training non-Aetherbound?"

Ethan laughed.

"Harry, trust me, Aetherbound aren't that cool. I can tell you that for sure. My brother is an Aetherbound, and even then I defeated him twice yesterday."

Harry raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"You know what their greatest weakness is, Harry?" Ethan continued.

"What?"

"Pride."

Ethan leaned back in his chair.

"Pride can be damaged without even attacking. You don't need to go close or fight them directly. Just a few words… or a good strategy. That's all it takes to make them kneel. Why do you think all this rich history made Aetherbound wiser? Many of them probably think of themselves as new gods."

He laughed lightly.

Harry was surprised hearing this. For a moment, he stayed silent.

In his mind, he realized something important.

Emotion.

Emotion was a double-edged sword on the battlefield.

Harry looked at Ethan and said, "Ethan, you're really smart. I never thought about it like that."

Ethan smiled and shook his head.

"It wasn't actually my idea. My elder sister told me this. She's a fighter—really good with daggers. I'm very inspired by her. That's why I also chose the dagger."

Hearing that, Harry asked curiously, "Is your whole family into fighting or something?"

Ethan chuckled.

"You could say that. My dad used to be in the police force, so it's kind of his influence."

Harry nodded after hearing this.

Then Ethan asked, "What about you, Harry? Do you have any siblings? I bet you do. There's no way you learned to use gauntlets alone."

Harry looked a little flustered.

"No… I don't have any siblings. My family is pretty normal. I just used to watch a lot of fighting shows with my grandfather when I was younger."

Ethan nodded thoughtfully.

"Then you've got talent, Harry. Don't waste it, buddy. If you ever need help, just ask me anytime."

Harry smiled and extended his hand.

"You can count on me too, Ethan."

Ethan shook his hand firmly.

After that, both of them returned to their seats just as Miss Mina Daper walked back into the classroom to begin the second lecture.
