Chapter 9 - SYSTEM

SYSTEM

Brocks watched as a person approached his cell sneakily. Then he heard a familiar voice in his head, and it belonged to none other than 100.

"Idiot, do you think you the HETRAM will only send only 50 elites to take down a strong shelter? Now look you've foiled all my plans, and You wouldn't even make me help you so you could be put to good use be put to good use".

 She stopped in front of the prison bars; her face twisted in a rare display of fury. Brock looked up to confront her but as his eyes met hers, he felt a pull, like his mind were leaving his body. 100 reached through the bars and pressed her index finger firmly against his forehead. Brock's eyes rolled to the back of his head reveling the white.

Brock found himself in his mental space, "how ..how did I get in here I did not enter by myself", before he could delve further in his confusion he saw the system screen flickering with red light

[HOST CONSCIOUSNESS HAS BEEN INVADED]

[MENTAL DEFENSES CRITICAL — BYPASS DETECTED]

[ERROR: @#%HKDJLF... SYSTEM INTEGRITY COMPROMISED]

[HOST CONSCIOUSNESS IS BEING CONTROLLED]

Before he could make sense of what was going on a headache hit him like a physical blow, a splitting agony that forced him to his knees. The reddish-purple aura in his mental space begun to spread and the markings on his mental projection began to increase forming distinct intricate patterns. Brock, rolling and hallowing in pain, didn't notice the aura slowly consuming the space. Fortunately, because it was now a part of the mental space and not independent it couldn't spread as it wanted to, since the space also fought back against the corruption.

Physically, Brock was a wreck. He had collapsed on the floor of the cage cell, his body racked with violent seizures. Blood leaked from his eyes, nose, and ears as he bled from his "seven orifices". 100 had long since disappeared.

Oddly, the guards standing only a few yards away remained perfectly still. Their eyes were vacant, staring straight ahead as if the cage and the dying boy inside it simply did not exist.

.......................................................................

The orange rays of sunset pierced into the window of the sentry window landing on a table in the center.

 "Any news on them" asked Anthon Clark, the shelter leader.

 "We've been trying to get in touch with for some time. No response" replied the aide de camp.

" what about Maya" said Anthon Clark the shelter leader.

 "No sir ".

As they discussed the situation, shadows in dark clothes with their covered faces moved sneakily in alleys ways and hidden corners of the shelter. Similar actions were happening in various locations in the shelter.

Suddenly, a massive explosion tore through the sky. Like a signal, a chain of explosions followed, the largest coming from the fuel reserve.

The shelter leader immediately stood up and looked out of the window facing the shelter and saw the devastation it was in. People scrambled around and masked figures slaying the residents. He ordered the aide to rally up the remaining guards to the residential area and begin an evacuation. Anthon Clark then ran to the command center of the shelter keyed in a passcode to a safe and retrieved a protective gear and a sword. He charged into the shelter and began to battle the masked figures

The HETRAMS who had set up a camp at the outer perimeter began moving the moment the first mushroom cloud appeared. They marched towards the shelter gates fully geared, though only 35 remained capable of combat thanks to Brock. Brock, meanwhile, was still in his cell.

.......

[HOST HAS BEEN ABLE TO SUPERIMPOSE MENTAL SPACE TO PHYSICAL BODY]

[HOST PHYSICAL BODY IS UNDERGOING CHANGES]

[HOST IS EVOLVING]

Reddish purple veins started to crawl over Brock's skin as a foul-smelling dark blood seeped out of his pores. His skin began to peel away, replaced by new ones. His hair fell off with new ones emerging a different color from the previous black; ashen gray. At a microscopic view you would see his DNA violently being rewritten by reddish purple wave. All of this went unnoticed by the guards; the process went on for a period then stopped.

[HOST HAS EVOLVED]

[RACE: HOLLOWED]

In dark void Brock mental projection which had been frozen all the while begun to move. He saw the massive changes in his mental space, the reddish-purple aura was no more patches but rather it had blended into space, losing its flame like appearance. He felt a call from deep in his space and moved towards the center. There he saw that this part of his space had no reddish-purple hue, it was dark. At the boundary, the was a visible struggle, a harsh reminder that the aura still sought to engulf him. At the center of this darkness, system panel floated. He went forward to look at it.

Hollwed huh, so that's what you guys wanted then I will give to you. Brock thought. At the bottom of the screen a message blinked.

[Would Host like to exit the Mental Space Y/N]

Without hesitation he clicked yes. Brock opened his eyes and saw himself in the cell, but the stench was very foul. The dark blood that came out of his pores was the mastermind behind the stench. But that was the least of his worries, he saw the kind of mess he had made in it but the security around him was the same, and even more shocking was that the elites guarding the cell seemed to not know he existed. He began shaking the cell making all sorts of noise but there was no reaction. Seeing this brock did not care what caused that he knew it was his chance.

He tried breaking the cell pushing it with his strength but only creaking sounds where produced. He looked at the guards and shouted, "Hey! If you just going to stand there doing nothing, why don't you just hand me the keys". His words fell on deaf ears. He continued exerting his strength but after a period he calmed down. When he did, he noticed the inconspicuous (i) in the corner of his vision. Is it from the system, he thought. He concentrated on it and a drop menu appeared

[Would Host like to]

 {Enter Mental Space}

 {Overlap Mental Space and Physical body}

The Enter Mental Space prompt was self-explanatory; he chose Overlap Mental Space and Physical body. When he did the system panel appeared in front of him, reduced to simple tabs: Info, Stat, and Skill tab.

So, I can use my skills now, I always wondered why I couldn't. 100 I don't know whether to thank you or hate you, humph I just do both. But what will she get from this.

As Brock continued to think an idea came to his mind, he opened the skills tab and activated Adrenaline Rush this increased his stats by 30%.

[STR :25 --> 32.5]

With this new strength he attacked the cage repeatedly the squeaking intensified until he was able to bend two bars outward. The gap was small, but he squeezed himself through.
