The Qingqiu Mountains are always shrouded in mist, with sacred flowers blooming everywhere, where the Nine-Tailed Fox Clan lives in peace. One day, the Spirit Heart Jade suddenly hums and emits black qi. Bai Su rushes to the altar with the Clear Sound Bell, only to see a black wolf lunging at the jade pedestal—the wolf has nine tails, each writhing like a venomous snake, and all plants around it wither instantly.
"Liao Xie! How dare you invade again!" Bai Su rings the Clear Sound Bell; its melodious chime disperses some black qi but fails to harm Liao Xie. Liao Xie grins menacingly, its claws sweeping across the altar and sending stones flying: "The hundred-year period is up—the Spirit Heart Jade belongs to me now!" They clash several times, but Bai Su, whose spiritual power is not yet fully awakened, gradually loses ground. Just as danger looms, Elder Mystic Fox arrives and uses a sealing spell to drive Liao Xie back temporarily, though the elder is seriously injured in the process.
Mystic Fox tells Bai Su: Liao Xie was originally a black wolf demon from outside Qingqiu. It mutated after touching chaotic miasma in the forbidden grounds a century ago. Only by gathering the "Essence of Sun and Moon, and Spirit of Mountains and Seas" and infusing them into the Clear Sound Bell can Liao Xie's miasma be completely purified.
Seeking the Spirit of Mountains and Seas, Forging Bonds Across Lands
Bai Su sets off from Qingqiu with A Man, first heading to the East Sea shore to retrieve the "Sun Essence". The Golden Crow Clan guards the Sun Essence Stone, but their young are falling ill as the coastal waters are tainted by miasma. Bai Su uses her silver tails' purifying power to heal the chicks and weaves a miasma-resistant barrier for the clan with illusion arts. Grateful, the Golden Crow chief presents her with the Sun Essence Stone.
Next, they travel to the Northern Abyss to find the "Moon Spirit", but are ambushed by Liao Xie's minions—demons controlled by vengeful miasma. While Bai Su fights and tries to calm the possessed creatures, A Man seizes the chance to find the Moon Spirit Grass hidden in an ice cave. Just as they are about to leave, Liao Xie appears suddenly, snatches the Moon Spirit Grass, and gravely wounds A Man: "Want the Moon Spirit back? Come to the Qingqiu Forbidden Grounds in three days for the final battle!"
Bai Su returns to Qingqiu and, with Mystic Fox's help, infuses the Sun Essence Stone into the Clear Sound Bell. She uses her own spiritual power to awaken part of the power of the Mountain and Sea Spirit in advance. Three days later, she goes to the forbidden grounds alone, where she sees Liao Xie has merged the Moon Spirit Grass with miasma—its nine black tails have grown thicker, and the space around it twists and warps.
At the start of the battle, Bai Su struggles to withstand Liao Xie's attacks and is scratched by its claws, the silver glow on her tails fading. Just as Liao Xie is about to seize the Spirit Heart Jade, A Man arrives with the Qingqiu demons. They form a shield with their collective spiritual power to buy Bai Su time. Watching her clansmen defend her, Bai Su finally awakens her full power—her nine silver tails unfurl, and the Clear Sound Bell rings out with earth-shaking volume. The power of the Sun Essence and Mountain and Sea Spirit merges in the chime, forming a pure beam of light that shoots straight at Liao Xie.
The light envelops Liao Xie, who roars in pain as miasma is forced out of its body. Its nine black tails gradually return to their original form. In the end, Liao Xie reverts to its black wolf appearance, its rage replaced by guilt and remorse. Instead of destroying it, Bai Su uses the Spirit Heart Jade to stabilize its bloodline, allowing it to cultivate in the forests beyond Qingqiu to atone for its sins.
The Spirit Heart Returns, Guardianship Endures
Peace returns to the Qingqiu Mountains, and the Spirit Heart Jade glows with gentle light once more. Before leaving, Liao Xie tells Bai Su that the source of the chaotic miasma may still exist elsewhere and promises to help if danger arises again. Watching Liao Xie depart, Bai Su understands that guardianship is not just about confrontation—purification and compassion are the true foundation of the demon realm's survival.
Thereafter, Bai Su becomes the new guardian of Qingqiu. She travels the world with the Clear Sound Bell, purifying remaining miasma and helping resolve conflicts between clans, spreading the goodwill of Qingqiu throughout the demon realm.
