Chapter 17 - poison

Arin was completely confused.

His thoughts refused to settle.

Seeing this, Ravier sighed and said,

"Just put your hand on your heart once… and answer honestly."

Arin went silent.

For a few seconds—

Everything around him felt distant.

He wanted to say something.

But no words came out.

Because deep inside—

Even he didn't understand what he felt anymore.

Ravier looked at him carefully.

"Look," he said calmly,

"if you really love her… then I have a way to find out whether she loves you too."

Arin looked up immediately.

"What way?"

Ravier smirked slightly.

"Not now. I'll tell you when the time comes."

Then he added,

"And trust me… you'll also find out whether you love her or not."

Arin stared at him strangely.

For the first time—

Those words made him nervous.

After some time, Arin returned with Ravier.

Meanwhile—

Aaika's tension kept increasing.

Something didn't feel right.

She still didn't understand Arin's sudden distance.

Suddenly—

A voice came from behind her.

"What happened?"

Aaika flinched in shock.

She turned instantly.

"Ravier?"

For a second she stopped herself.

But then she couldn't hold back anymore.

"What happened to Arin?"

Ravier's expression became serious.

"Some goons captured him."

Aaika's eyes widened.

"Where?"

"Spike Mountain."

For a moment—

Aaika's expression changed completely.

"Then what are you doing here?" she asked sharply.

"Aren't you going to save him?"

Ravier replied calmly,

"I will. But with police backup. We'll leave by evening so there's no unnecessary risk."

Aaika went silent.

But inside—

Something exploded.

Even before Ravier left—

She had already made her decision.

Spike Mountain.

The wind there was cold and violent.

Dark clouds covered the sky.

Aaika reached the place silently.

And what she saw—

Made her heartbeat stop for a second.

Arin was unconscious.

Tied up.

Surrounded by armed men.

Something inside Aaika snapped.

Her eyes slowly turned red.

The air around her grew heavy.

One of the men laughed.

"Oh look, the girlfriend came to save him."

The next second—

He was thrown into a rock before he could even scream.

The others attacked together.

But against Aaika—

They stood no chance.

In less than two minutes—

Everything was over.

Some men were unconscious.

Some were unable to move.

The rest had already run away in fear.

Aaika walked toward Arin quickly.

The anger on her face disappeared the moment she looked at him.

She knelt beside him carefully.

"Arin…"

No response.

There were injuries on his face.

His hands were bruised.

Aaika clenched her fists.

For the first time—

Seeing someone hurt made her genuinely angry.

She gently touched his forehead.

Her powers began healing his wounds slowly.

At that moment—

She forgot everything.

The mission.

The diary.

Even Rambh's orders.

All she cared about was—

That Arin opened his eyes safely.

Just before Ravier and the police arrived—

Aaika hid her powers and stepped back.

A few seconds later—

Arin slowly regained consciousness.

His vision was blurry.

But the first face he saw—

Was Aaika's.

And for some reason—

The moment he saw her,

He felt safe.

Ravier finally reached the mountain.

The moment he saw Aaika there, he stopped.

"You came here alone?" he asked.

Aaika looked furious.

"What else was I supposed to do?" she snapped.

"You said you'd come by evening. What if something had happened to him before that?"

Ravier stayed quiet.

But inside—

He understood.

Aaika truly cared about Arin.

Maybe more than she herself realized.

Arin slowly regained consciousness.

He and Ravier both knew one thing now—

Those goons had been real.

This was not some harmless setup anymore.

Ravier helped Arin stand.

"Come on, we need to leave."

The three of them were talking—

When suddenly—

One of the unconscious goons moved.

No one noticed.

The man grabbed a knife and rushed toward Aaika from behind.

"AAIKA!"

Before anyone could stop him—

The knife pierced into Aaika's side.

For a second—

Everything froze.

The attacker laughed weakly.

"The poison… will kill her…"

And then collapsed.

Aaika staggered back.

Her body instantly weakened.

The poison was real.

And deadly.

Arin's heartbeat stopped for a moment.

"Aaika!"

He caught her before she could fall completely.

But something felt wrong.

Terribly wrong.

Her body had already started losing strength.

It felt lifeless in his arms.

As if her soul itself was slipping away.

"Aaika… look at me," Arin said desperately.

But her eyes slowly closed.

At that exact moment—

Far away in the demon realm—

Rambh suddenly stood up.

He felt it.

A deadly attack on Aaika.

For the first time in years—

Fear appeared in his eyes.

Without wasting a second—

He rushed toward Earth.

Meanwhile—

Aaika was taken to the hospital.

Chaos spread everywhere.

Doctors rushed around desperately.

But as the poison spread—

Aaika's skin slowly began turning blue.

The doctors tested the knife.

And what they discovered—

Made even them panic.

"This poison is extremely lethal," one doctor said seriously.

"There's almost no antidote for it."

Ravier's face fell.

"What are you saying?"

The doctor lowered his eyes.

"We're sorry… but chances of survival are nearly impossible."

Arin felt numb.

No.

This couldn't happen.

Not now.

Just then—

A man rushed into the hospital.

Mr. Malhotra.

Or at least—

That's what everyone thought.

But it was Rambh.

The moment he saw Aaika lying unconscious—

Something inside him shattered.

For the first time—

Tears appeared in Rambh's eyes.

Slowly, he sat beside her bed.

And placed his trembling hand on her head.

"My daughter…"

His voice broke.

Arin and Ravier had never seen him like this before.

The powerful businessman who always looked calm—

Was completely broken.

At that moment—

Iren arrived quietly.

She walked closer and looked at Aaika carefully.

Then she said softly,

"I know a way to remove the poison from her body."

Everyone looked toward her instantly.

But the expression on Iren's face—

Wasn't simple.

It carried hesitation.

And something else.

Something dangerous.

To be continued…
