Chapter 34 - The Anti-Creature Politician

While Glad dealt with personal drama, a new threat emerged on the human side.

Congressman Vicente "Vic" Dimagiba, a third-term legislator from a deeply conservative province, had found his new cause.

"These creatures," he thundered on a live TV interview, "are infiltrating our communities! They drink our blood! They steal our children! They—"

"They drink MEDICAL blood," the interviewer interrupted. "Ethically sourced. And there's no evidence of child-stealing."

"THEY FLY AT NIGHT!"

"So do birds. Are you afraid of birds?"

Congressman Dimagiba sputtered. "This is different! Birds are natural! These are—are—"

"Filipinos? Citizens? Taxpayers?"

The interview went viral—but not in the way Dimagiba wanted. Comments flooded in:

"This man is afraid of birds lol"

"Birds: exist. Dimagiba: terrified."

"New fear unlocked: congressman vs. maya"

"Can Glad eat him? Asking for a friend."

But Dimagiba wasn't deterred. He announced a new bill: the "Human Protection from Supernatural Threats Act," which would require all creatures to register (they already did), restrict movement during full moons (discrimination), and establish "safe zones" where creatures couldn't live (segregation).

Glad watched his press conference with growing anger.

"This is ridiculous," she told the council. "He's using fear to push discrimination."

"Welcome to politics," Lakay Ambo said heavily. "We've faced this for centuries. Usually, we just hide until it blows over."

"We can't hide anymore. I won't hide anymore." She stood. "I'm going to fight this. Publicly. And I need the council's support."

Murmurs circled the chamber.

Congressman Diomedes spoke carefully. "Glad, if you go public against a human politician, you risk backlash. For all of us."

"Then we risk it together. Or we hide forever. Your choice."

Silence.

Then Luningning stood. "I support Glad. We've hidden long enough."

Lakay Ambo rose. "I'm too old to hide anymore. Count me in."

One by one, the council members stood.

Congressman Diomedes watched, then slowly nodded. "Very well. The Supernatural Council officially opposes the Dimagiba bill. Glad, you have our mandate. Fight."

That night, Glad posted her first political video.

"Hi everyone. You know me as the flying tita who's bad at selfies. But today, I need to talk about something serious. There's a bill in Congress that would discriminate against creatures like me. Against your neighbors. Your friends. Your favorite content creator. If this passes, it won't just hurt us—it will hurt the Philippines. So I'm asking: stand with us. Not as creatures or humans, but as Filipinos. Together, we're stronger."

24 hours later: 10 million views.

Congressman Dimagiba's office phone rang nonstop for three days.

The war had begun.
