The Realm of Fate, a place that also existed beyond reality. Space and time had no bearing in this realm, for this realm was but a sea of endless orange strands. There was no end to this cosmic void that stretched far beyond infinite. There was also no throne that sat within this realm as Aevor did not wish to be a ruler, instead he considered himself an observer. Floating within an endless cosmic void, a fractured island of ancient stone drifted in silence. At its center stood five towering pillars arranged in a perfect circle, each radiating a distinct glow. Blue, crimson, violet, gold, and black. Their light pulsing softly as if breathing alongside the universe itself.
From these pillars stretched countless glowing strands that wove outward into the infinite expanse, forming a vast, intricate web of light. These were the threads of fate, each one representing a destiny already written. Connecting every world, every life and every moment that had ever existed. With every action taken across the cosmos, the strands would shift and tremble. They weaved themselves into new patterns as existence continued to unfold.
Standing at the edge of the floating island was Renku. His silver hair shimmered faintly beneath the glow of the threads as their light reflected in his blue eyes as he gazed across the pillars and the endless web stretching into the stars beyond. The strands moved slowly, gracefully, like living rivers of light drifting through eternity.
"This place never ceases to amaze me," he said quietly with his attention fixed on the ever-moving tapestry before him.
"Renku… it has been a while." A voice echoed through the realm, it was calm, ancient, and familiar.
Renku turned at once. Before him, several strands of fate began to glow brighter. Their golden light gathering and condensing into form. Slowly, the outline of a figure emerged, solidifying into a tall being cloaked in black and gold garments that shimmered like starlight. His long silver hair flowed gently behind him and at the center of his chest burned a radiant star. Its light pulsing in harmony with the threads.
Renku's gaze sharpened as he spoke. "Aevor…"
The being regarded him with quiet indifference, his amber eyes glowing with calm, immeasurable power. Aevor's aura was not the same as his brothers or sisters. His aura was of a neutral feeling, one that didn't anger or feel heavy. Nor did it feel warm and inviting. It was balanced.
"You have come seeking answers about Valak." Aevor questioned.
Renku stepped forward, his expression tightening. He knew the Gods themselves were very powerful. Legends spoke of Vaelor being omnipotent, able to destroy anything he pleased. Lynassa in the legends was viewed as omniscient, an all knowing God. However, Aevor was the omnipresent God. Observing everything all at once, following all possible destinations.
"I need to understand why he turned," he said, his voice steady but weighted with emotion. "If I know the reason… then maybe I can still save him."
"Renku," Aevor replied, his tone unwavering, "you already understand that it is forbidden to interfere with fate."
Renku's hands clenched at his sides as he met the god's gaze. He didn't care if it was forbidden to interfere with fate. If there was even a chance he could change the future and save Valak, he would take it.
"Valak is a brother to me," he said more quietly now, though his resolve did not waver. "What ever the price is... I'll pay it."
As those words were spoken, the surrounding strands trembled more violently. It was as though his defiance had sent ripples through the very foundation of the realm. The God of Fate turned his gaze toward the towering pillars, his expression unreadable.
"Valak's turn was not foreseen by fate," he stated.
Renku froze, the weight of those words striking him harder than any blade. Thoughts began to run through his mind, questioned that had not been asked before surfaced.
Not even Aevor saw Valak's turn... Has Valak found a way to go against fate? If a God can't see it, then how can I stop it?
"Fate is impartial," Aevor continued, his voice calm yet absolute. "It exists to maintain balance, nothing more, nothing less."
The threads drifted slowly across the sky like glowing constellations, their movements steady despite the tension in the air. Aevor looked up at the beautiful sea of orange light, reaching for a lone strand that was drifting before them.
"Only a Fate Breaker can defy what has already been written." explained Aevor.
"A Fate Breaker…?" renku questioned with confusion.
Renku had never heard of this term before. Not even in the legends within the Angelics spoke of the Fate Breaker. Every book he every read regarding the history of the universe never mentioned the term fate Breaker. The God of Fate's gaze shifted toward the infinite web stretching across the cosmos.
"A Fate Breaker is an anomaly… an existence that should never have come into being, yet somehow did. Such beings possess the ability to alter fate itself, reshaping not only their own destiny but the destinies of others as well." he explained with a hint of fear coming through his voice.
The golden strands swirled gently around him, their glow deepening as his voice softened.
"And regardless of what the universe has decided… they will change its course." he continued.
Renku fell silent as a troubling thought began to take shape in his mind. His hand rose slowly to his chin as doubt crept into his thoughts. The weight of that possibility pressing heavily against him.
What if Valak is the Fate Breaker…?
If he is… could I still save him?
Before he could speak, Aevor answered, "Valak is not the Fate Breaker."
Renku's eyes widened slightly as he replied, "Then… who is?"
The god closed his eyes briefly, as though searching beyond the limits of his own vision. Aevor could see everyone being in all of existence. No one was out of his reach, but no matter how hard he looked the Fate Breaker was never visible to him.
"That is something even I cannot determine. I cannot see their past, nor their present… and when I look ahead, the threads vanish entirely." the God spoke as his eyes opened again, their glow dimming just slightly.
"It is as though the future itself has been swallowed by darkness. From this, I can only conclude that the Fate Breaker… is already here." he continued.
Renku turned sharply. Within the glowing web behind them, a shadowy silhouette flickered faintly among the strands, appearing for only a moment before vanishing again. The God of Fate shifted his gaze toward the tallest pillar, one that radiated a strange, unfamiliar violet light.
"Everything points towards this particular pillar." he said while gesturing to the violet pillar. "The other four pillars all represent you four Orions. This one should not exist."
Renku stared at it, unease settling deep within his chest as he asked, "Is this the first Fate Breaker?"
The God of Fate shook his head slowly, "No."
"Many eons ago, another Fate Breaker nearly brought an end to all of reality," he continued. "That event… is the reason you Orions were created."
Even the threads seemed to tremble at the memory. The realm grew quiet as the past began to unfold. The Realm of Fate trembled violently as golden threads that had once flowed in perfect harmony began snapping one after another. Each break sent ripples of instability across the cosmic web. Cracks spread across the floating stone platforms, splitting ancient surfaces that had endured for eons. Massive pillars groaned under the strain as fragments broke away and vanishing into the endless void below. At the center of the chaos stood the God of Fate, his silver hair whipping through the storm of unstable energy as his glowing eyes scanned the collapsing tapestry before him.
"What is happening…?" he demanded and for the first time, uncertainty bled into his voice. "Why are the threads breaking?"
More Strands began to snap, but even faster this time. Each one shattered with a burst of violent green light, sending shockwaves through the realm as reality itself began to unravel. Moving quickly, Aevor approached the Pool of Fate. A circular basin where countless strands converged. The moment his hand touched its glowing surface, the reaction was immediate. The threads surged wildly. A spiraling column of golden energy erupted upward, twisting and expanding as its intensity grew beyond anything the realm could contain.
"The power… it's surging… no… it's overflowing!" the God of Fate said with fear crippling him.
Before he could react, a violent explosion of green lightning tore through the spiral, ripping open the space above the realm itself. From within that fracture… something emerged. Not fully. Not cleanly. It was as though reality itself struggled to allow it to exist.
A silhouette formed within the storm, its body unstable and constantly shifting. Cracks of energy ran across it like fractures in existence itself. Two glowing green eyes opened within the darkness and instantly, threads began to snap. Dozens, then hundreds without ever being touched. The God of Fate staggered back, his composure faltering.
"No… this presence…" he spoke quietly.
The being lowered its gaze to its own hands as space bent unnaturally around its fingers.
"This power…" it murmured, its voice distorting everything around it, "so this is what lies beyond fate."
The realm shook violently. Even the pillars began to fracture before a massive ring of glowing symbols opened in the sky. A portal of burning energy expanded outward and from it stepped two figures onto the collapsing platform. Vaelor The God of Destruction, clad in black armor etched with violet energy, his gaze cold and unwavering. Beside him, Lynassa the Goddess of Creation, her green hair flowing like living light as her expression was caught between concern and guilt.
"Seems your realm is facing the same problem," the God of Destruction said calmly.
The God of Fate rose, anger flashing in his eyes. "The threads are breaking, reality itself is collapsing! What has been done?!"
The God of Destruction glanced briefly toward his sister. "She created a Fate Breaker to end the war… without understanding what it would become."
The Goddess of Creation stepped forward, her voice quiet and unsteady. "I only wanted to stop the suffering…"
The God of Fate clenched his fists. "Then we need to stop it… now."
Dark energy gathered in the God of Destruction's hand as space itself warped and twisted around him. Vaelor's aura exploded outward shaking all of existences rapidly. Every mortal could feel the God's power, some believed this was judgment for all the evil they had committed.
"I will correct this error." the God of Destruction spoke with authority and power.
Reality and space began to warp as the God entered the mortal realm. He stepped before The Fate Breaker who turned to face the God. For the first time their eyes met. The God of Destruction extended his hand, condensing a sphere of overwhelming power.
"You are an error in existence… You do not belong here." The words carried throughout all of reality.
A massive beam of violet destruction tore through the realm, colliding with the Fate Breaker as reality fractured around the impact. The being resisted, its form distorting violently as green energy surged against the attack, but the force pressed forward relentlessly, overwhelming it piece by piece. Then a blinding explosion consumed everything. When the light finally faded, the Fate Breaker was gone. Slowly, the threads began to repair themselves and the pillars stabilized.
Reality mended its wounds as balance returned. The Goddess of Creation stood silently as the fractured threads of reality wove themselves back together, the chaos fading until only stillness remained. Her hands trembled slightly as she looked down at them, the same hands that had given birth to something capable of destroying everything. Slowly, she turned toward her siblings.
"I'm sorry…" she said softly. "I only wanted to end the wars."
Silence followed. Aevor watched her carefully, still feeling the lingering instability within the threads. The damage had been repaired, but not forgotten. What she had done could have erased existence itself and yet, she was still his sister.
"It's alright," he said gently. "I understand."
The golden threads shimmered faintly in response.
"Your motives came from a place of love… not destruction," he continued.
Lynassa lowered her gaze, her expression still clouded with guilt. Aevor looked past her, toward the infinite web stretching across the cosmos. They violent shaking and snapping had ceased with all the threads returning back to their rightful place.
"But the wars…" he continued, his voice quieter now, "they are a part of fate."
The threads pulsed softly, countless lives, countless conflicts, countless endings already written. War was apart of the course, civilizations would rise and fall as they challenged each other. Fate had always dictated would would win and who would lose.
"We cannot erase them or just stop them," Aevor stated.
The Goddess clenched her hands slightly. "…Then what are we supposed to do?"
For the first time since the chaos ended, uncertainty entered her voice. The God of Fate turned back to her and then he smiled. He knew he couldn't remove wars from existence otherwise reality and fate would collapse. However, he knew of a way that would help monitor and guide the fate in the correct way.
"We adapt." he spoke with a gentle smile as he stepped closer, placing a hand gently on her shoulder.
"If fate cannot be changed… then we create those who can guide it." he continued.
The Goddess of Creation looked up at him, the sadness in her eyes beginning to fade, replaced by something warmer. Hope.
"I can't change what is already predetermined…" Aevor said slowly, "but we can shape how those events unfold."
Lynassa nodded. The threads around them brightened in response, as if acknowledging their decision. Energy began to gather together, illuminating the entire realm in an ocean of beautiful colors.
"Then let's create something new," the Goddess said, her voice rising with renewed determination. "Let's start with hope."
Emerald light burst from her, radiant and alive. The God of Fate raised his hand in response, summoning a force of balance. The two energies collided in spectacular fashion as creation and fate created the first Orion.
"Then we will need light… and darkness." she commanded.
The energies intertwined once again, perfectly balanced. From light the radiant Andreia was born. From the shadows themselves came Zether as they joined Renku as the Orions.
"Hope is a powerful force," Aevor acknowledged. "And hope alone is not enough… we must temper it with chaos."
A wild, unstable force sparked into existence. The final Orion was born from the chaotic nature of the cosmos. The Orions were born from the four cosmic energies, Hope, Light, Darkness and Chaos. The Realm of Fate itself reacted as the threads spiraled inward, drawn toward the center of their power. A massive surge of energy erupted outward and from it. Four figures began to take shape. Their forms were not yet fully defined, but their presence alone sent ripples through existence itself.
"These beings…" the God of Fate said quietly, "will stand with good against evil."
The Goddess of Creation smiled, her guilt finally giving way to purpose. "They will bring balance."
The light settled and with it the birth of the four Orions. The vision dissolved like mist as the violent storm of the past faded and the orange threads of fate returned to their calm, endless flow.
"My brother erased the Fate Breaker from existence," the God of Fate said quietly. "And with that… reality was restored."
Renku blinked as the Realm of Fate came back into focus, the floating platform, the towering pillars and the endless strands stretching across the stars.
"Cosmic force…" he murmured, his gaze drawn toward the new pillar radiating that strange violet glow.
"So if a Fate Breaker can defy fate itself…" he continued, his voice steady but tense, "…does that mean this one could pose the same threat as the last?"
The God of Fate turned slightly, his gaze resting on the pillar. Aevor knew there was a chance that the past could repeat itself. However, this time the energy he felt emitting from the pillar was a familiar but different energy.
"This Fate Breaker is different." A hint of intrigue crept into his voice.
The threads drifted calmly around them, untouched by chaos.
"The strands are not breaking and the realm remains stable," he continued. "Something about this energy feels familiar… like I've sensed it before."
Renku scanned the cosmic landscape again, unease settling deeper within him. Renku could also feel the energy coming from the pillar. Renku noticed that the energy wasn't like the other Orions, this energy felt completely different. It was like it had a very different origin to their own power.
The God of Fate lifted his gaze toward the strands and spoke, "I will need to visit my siblings to uncover the truth behind this."
"There is something else you must understand." Aevor's words came with a serious tone. "I can no longer see your future."
Renku's eyes widened, uncertain what would come next.
"With the presence of the Fate Breaker," the god continued, "your fate has not yet been written."
Silence filled the realm for the first time since Renku arrived. With this new information regarding his fate, Renku finally felt like he had a clear path he needed to take.
"If my fate hasn't been written yet…" he said slowly, "…then I can still save Valak."
His fists clenched. "…and maybe even save the universe."
The God of Fate studied him for a moment, then he nodded. "Yes… that is correct."
The threads shimmered faintly, as if acknowledging the possibility. Renku's thoughts began to take over his mind again as he now had to make a choice.
The Fate Breaker can wait because if there was even the smallest chance, even one percent, that Valak could be saved. I have to take it.
Aevor raised his hand before speaking, "There is one more thing."
"With the Fate Breaker now present, free will has begun to spread across all existence. Be careful… desire and selfishness will follow closely behind it." he continued.
Renku nodded as orange energy gathered around him forming a portal back to the mortal realm as his resolve hardened.
If Valak can be saved…
Does that mean someone else is behind all of this?
Or… was Valak never meant to be saved at all?
