Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Confronting a Cannibal

I'm already imagining absurd arguments like I had with my fellow cops. But I don't care, I'm going in guns blazes. I surge with Number One's energy, my aura flaring with crimson red flair. I pull out my 9mm berretta, and shoot through the front door's glass. I enter, yelling angrily.

"Come out, Owner! You're suspected of murder of a real civilian. And I'm personally mad about the Muhrom, even if no one gives a shit yet!" I yell furiously.

"You think you can take me alive? I was an Arch Mage candidate before." Owner? says with bloodlusted cockiness.

"I can give a shit less." I growl angrily.

I feel the heat turn up, but I just hear the voice of Number One in my head argue with his influence.

"You think we're fucking weak? We are Gods compared to you. And we do murder right. Prepare for death for even trying, motherfucker." Number One snaps with cocky rage.

The temperature returns to normal, which makes a shocked gasp shoot through the air. Followed by me opening fire through the floor where I heard the gasp. Thanks to Number One, I shoot a three foot wide hole through the floor with four shots total. And I hear the scrambling of feet from down there. So I jump down.

And become even more consumed with rage. I see the giant cauldron a Muhrom's corpse sits in. And there's another one chained to the wall, with big railroad nails pierced through its shoulders. A Muhrom is a big white humanoid mushroom that is like a thick, fat stick figure that stands six feet tall on average. With a large beige mushroom head on top. Their face takes up almost the entirety of what you'd consider their torso, with thick lines around their torso to show their jawline.

Hero compels me to help first, so I do it. As the Perp runs, I rip the nails out the wall and the Muhrom with my bare hands.

"I hope you don't mind. I've seen you Muhrom heal well once we remove the weapons." I say, blunt and angry.

"I'll be fine. Please avenge my friend. We didn't deserve this!" Muhrom Survivor cries desperately.

"Will do. Get away while you still can. I hate to say it but I'm one of the few cops you can trust as a Muhrom right now. And I don't trust them to treat you well." I say angrily.

He nods and begins moving slowly. My eyes water as I watch him move. I growl angrily and change my mind.

"I'm gonna lead you outside now. I will deal with him later." I say angrily.

"Thank you. Please help me. I need some physical support." Muhrom Survivor says with pain.

I let him lean on me as we get up the stairs and start to leave. Only to find the door covered with ice. I growl angrily, and blast it down to pieces and ice shards that won't bother us as its just on the fucking ground. I reload my pistol with a fresh clip before we get up the stairs.

As we round the corner, I hear his feet pound as he rushes out the front door and goes down the street. I peek ahead and see he left behind a sigil on the ground. Ugh, a traditionalist. How annoying, he really was an Arch Mage candidate. Which means I know how to deal with this, but only as a gamer.

I use wind magic to stir up the sigil, activating it prematurely. Which causes a burst of flames to erupt across the room. I block it with wind, but the heat singes us badly. The Muhrom's skin all darkens by like, three tints at least. I sigh, and just keep helping him out.

"Please go check outside first before I leave. I can't fit with us both going through the door anyway." Muhrom says fearfully.

"I gotcha, friend." I say warmly.

I ready my pistol and stand outside. Only to see the Perp facing down Field Again Jones with his staff aimed at him. I don't fucking hesitate. I blow off his damn arm and leg with two shots, one in each joint. He falls to the ground, nearly dead himself.

"Scavo, what the fuck even!? I could've taken him!" Field Agent Jones says angrily, and a bit scared.

"Yeah, but you'll be fine. Life goes on." I say nonchalantly.

"Not for you, this is beyond cop abuse." Jones says fearfully.

Indeed it was. But in magic warfare, you'd be surprised how much of this slips by. They actually study the scene for cops to make sure if it was warranted. And well... I go to sit in a police car in the meantime. It's a Seat of Honor or Shame. They joke about it amongst Gung Ho cops all the time.

Here comes the verdict. Another Field Agent I haven't met before approaches. A middle aged woman with dark blue hair and green eyes. Wearing the standard field agent uniform, white lab coat, white t-shirt, black pants, and black sneakers.

"Luigi, you're free to go. He was a cannibal of humans and muhrom. And he was a Arch Mage candidate officially so it was warranted." she says tensely.

She lets me out the car as I thank her, and go back to the Police Station. I'll probably be given another assignment within an hour.
