Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Boundary of Friendship

Days passed in quiet repetition—morning routines, daily responsibilities, and silent nights.

Rajiv returned home tired and often immersed in his phone or laptop. Conversations between them had become short and mechanical.

Many times Diya wanted to share small things—an incident from her day, a song she loved, or simply a thought.

But the moment she saw Rajiv's tired and serious expression, she chose silence instead.

One night, while standing on the balcony again, her phone lit up.

"You seem quiet today. Is everything alright?"

It was Rohit.

Diya was surprised. She hadn't spoken much that day, yet somehow he sensed it.

She typed slowly.

"Nothing really… just feeling a little low."

Rohit replied:

"Sometimes talking helps. You don't have to carry everything alone."

That night, Diya shared more than she had shared with anyone in a long time—her thoughts, her loneliness, her small disappointments.

Rohit listened.

He never judged.

Instead, he replied gently:

"You feel deeply, Diya."

"Not everyone understands emotions the way you do."

Gradually, their conversations became a part of daily life.

Sometimes through messages.

Sometimes through long phone calls.

Their topics were simple—old college memories, favorite books, music, and reflections about life.

One day Rohit said with a smile,

"Talking to you feels easy."

Diya paused for a moment.

"Maybe because I can't speak this openly with many people."

Rohit answered softly,

"That's what friendship is… a place where you can be yourself."

Yet somewhere in the quiet space between words, a warmth was growing.

And Diya wondered—

Did friendship always remain within boundaries?
