Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Letters from Hogwarts

High above the vast Scottish Highlands, the mysterious and ancient Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry stood majestically.

This thousand-year-old school, like a silent witness, has seen the rise and fall of the magic World in Britain and even the whole of Europe.

The current Principal, Albus Dumbledore, is a recipient of the Order of Merlin, First Class, and the founder and Secret-Keeper of the Order of the Phoenix.

At the same time, he is also the Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards and the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot.

He has profound accomplishments in Alchemy and Transfiguration, reaching a realm beyond ordinary people's reach.

In the vast field of magic theory research, he has also made significant and meaningful contributions with his wisdom and effort.

However, when it comes to his most brilliant and outstanding achievements, it is undoubtedly his successive defeats of two terrifying Dark Lords—Gellert Grindelwald and Lord Voldemort.

Because of this, he is undeniably recognized by the entire magic World as the greatest and most powerful Wizard of his time.

However, at this moment, this old man, who was already nearly 110 years old, was obediently accepting a scolding, just like a child who had accidentally done something wrong.

"Is your head full of honey, Dumbledore!"

"If so, that would be wonderful, Severus."

"Call me Professor Snape!"

"Alright, Snape."

Dumbledore smiled, handing Snape an enticing lemon sherbet drop, and said kindly,

"Want to try one? These are carefully made by Muggles, and they taste quite good."

His response was Snape's murderous, sharp gaze.

Dumbledore reluctantly took the candy back, muttering softly, "What a pity."

"Severus, why are you so firmly against Mr. Erwin teaching at Hogwarts? You used to take great care of him back then."

"Don't tell me you don't know what he did after graduation."

"Of course I know, Mr. Erwin is a Wizard full of fearless adventurous spirit…"

"He frequently deals with those evil Dark Wizards, and breaking the law is as common to him as drinking Water daily."

"But we don't have definitive evidence to prove all of this…"

"This precisely shows his extreme cunning, just like that one."

Dumbledore looked at Snape with sincere and serious eyes.

"You are overthinking it."

Snape pursed his lips tightly, saying nothing.

"It seems neither of us can convince the other. How about I invite Mr. Erwin over, and we can ask him clearly in person?"

Dumbledore quickly wrote a letter with an exquisite quill.

"I want to supervise the entire process."

"No problem."

Dumbledore then handed the envelope to an owl and gently opened the window.

The owl held the envelope steadily, spread its wings, and flew out, disappearing into the distant sky.

Wes was fully focused, intently studying a paper.

It was a paper recently published by Professor Minerva McGonagall, deeply analyzing Transfiguration.

As one of the very few registered Animagi in the magic World, Professor Minerva McGonagall was undoubtedly a true Transfiguration Master.

At this moment, Wes was completely immersed in the paper, as if he had fallen into a magical World and could not extricate himself.

So much so that he didn't even hear the continuous knocking sounds from the window.

Finally, Jandy hurried to open the window and carefully let the owl in.

The owl, upon entering, angrily flapped its wings and hooted continuously, expressing its strong dissatisfaction.

"Oh, quiet down, little one. It wouldn't be good if you disturbed Master."

Jandy pulled out a handful of premium pet food.

As soon as the owl smelled the enticing aroma, it eagerly went over to taste it.

After it had eaten its fill, it affectionately rubbed against Jandy, then dropped the envelope, flapped its wings, and flew away.

Jandy quickly picked up the envelope, carefully looked at the sender, and immediately respectfully handed it to Wes.

"Master, it's a letter from Hogwarts."

Wes, who was initially quite displeased at being disturbed, instantly brightened when he heard it was a letter from Hogwarts. He immediately and without hesitation dropped the paper in his hand and quickly tore open the envelope.

"Mr. Wes Erwin,

We are pleased that you have reapplied for the position of Runes Professor. After careful consideration, please attend an interview tomorrow morning at 10 AM in the Headmaster's Office.

Wishing you all the best,

Albus Dumbledore"

"Oh! This is great!" Wes danced with excitement, his face overflowing with uncontrollable joy. "Three years, and finally a reply."

"Congratulations, Master."

Jandy, as a very dutiful House-elf, offered his Master sincere blessings.

"I must make sure everything is foolproof."

Wes's gaze was firm; he was determined to succeed this time.

At eight o'clock the next day, Wes stood early in front of the mirror, meticulously examining himself.

The mirror reflected a young man with distinct features and high spirits. His hair was impeccably combed, neat and smooth.

A well-tailored robe perfectly accentuated his tall and slender figure, and coupled with his extraordinarily handsome face, he appeared even more charming.

"How do I look?" Wes asked expectantly.

"Perfect, my Master!"

Wes couldn't help but curve his lips into a beautiful smile, then picked up the briefcase beside him.

"Wait here obediently."

"Yes, Master."

When Wes arrived at Hogwarts at 9:30, he was greeted by none other than Professor McGonagall.

Wes was immediately somewhat overwhelmed and quickly bowed deeply in greeting: "Long time no see, Professor McGonagall."

"Mr. Erwin, you have grown into an excellent young man," Professor McGonagall said with a smile, praising him gently. "I never thought that one day you and I would become colleagues."

"That ultimately depends on Headmaster Dumbledore's decision," Wes said, appearing a little embarrassed.

"You are a clever child, and you were outstanding when you were at school. If Albus is still clear-headed and hasn't become muddled, he should accept your job application."

"I hope everything is as you say."

"Mr. Erwin."

"Please call me Wes, Professor McGonagall."

"Alright, Wes. How does it feel to return to campus?"

Wes's face showed a hint of emotion: "Both familiar and unfamiliar. As a student, I didn't properly explore this mysterious Castle; I was immersed in books in the library and the study of magic all day."

"Yes, that was extremely impressive," Professor McGonagall said slowly. "No student has ever been as studious as you, even if you were a student from Ravenclaw, it was still too exaggerated."

Wes rubbed his nose, a little embarrassed.

"We Professors were 'bothered' by you quite a bit back then."

Although she said that, Professor McGonagall had always been very caring towards studious students like Wes, often giving him extra tutoring privately.

The other Professors were the same; even the usually strict Professor Snape looked at Wes differently.

"By the way, does Filius know about this?"

"Not yet. I want to tell him after everything is confirmed."

As the two talked, they unknowingly arrived on the 8th floor.

The hideously ugly giant stone beast guarding the Headmaster's Office suddenly spoke: "Password!"

"Toffee," Professor McGonagall replied calmly.

The stone beast obediently moved aside.

Behind the stone beast was a slowly rotating spiral staircase, and at the top of the staircase was the door to the Headmaster's Office.

It was a shining oak door, inlaid with a uniquely shaped brass griffin knocker.

As the two approached, the door slowly opened automatically.

Looking at the open door, Wes felt a hint of nervousness inside.
