Halfway through the feast, a loud commotion broke out in the corridor outside. Rias frowned. This was her family's hotel, but there was always a chance some drunken idiot might try to cause a scene. Usually, that only happened in urban fantasy novels, but that didn't mean it was impossible.
Tonight was her night to host an important guest. If anyone ruined the mood, she would make them pay.
"Tsubaki, go see what it is."
"Akeno, you go too. Use force if necessary," Rias added. She wasn't always kind. To the regular students at Kuoh, she was an untouchable "Ice Queen."
"Understood," Akeno said, a mischievous glint in her eye. She was already planning to "shock" whoever was being so rude.
The two girls stepped out. A few minutes passed, but nothing happened. Usually, a familiar would have handled a common intruder before they even got close.
Lavinia, who was still focused on her food, suddenly tugged Rhodes' sleeve under the table. "The presence outside... it's strong, but very faint. If I wasn't paying attention, I almost wouldn't have sensed it."
As a master magician, Lavinia was far more sensitive to mana than most devils. Rhodes felt it too. He pulled up his system map.
The 3D map showed several green dots—Lavinia, Rias, and the others. Downstairs were the green dots for Tsubaki and Akeno. Near them were two more green marks.
Allies? Rhodes relaxed.
The four green dots began moving up to the second floor and stopped at the door. The door opened, and Tsubaki and Akeno walked in. Rhodes noticed their faces were tense, their bodies stiff with a mix of awe and shock.
Sona Sitri frowned. As Student Council President, she was strict with her peerage. She had only brought the experienced Tsubaki tonight because she wanted everything to be perfect.
"Tsubaki, what's wrong? I've told you to handle things efficiently," Sona said calmly. However, when a face peeked out from behind Tsubaki's shoulder, Sona's expression instantly turned as pale as if she'd swallowed a fly.That face, as if discovering a new continent, popped out with a skip between Tsubaki Shinra and Akeno Himejima.
"Sona-chan! I finally found you! ~~~"
A blur streaked past everyone's eyes, slamming into Sona Sitri and locking her in a crushing hug. By the time the others reacted, they realized the figure clinging to Sona was dressed in something incredibly flamboyant.
However, Asia recognized it immediately.
"Huh? Is that a character from Magical Girl Milky Spiral?"
Having been properly introduced to the wonders of modern appliances, Asia had developed a habit of watching television.
Behind his sunglasses, Rhodes' eyes were also taking in the sight. The beautiful girl hugging Sona was wearing a pink and white tiered dress with layers of lace at the hem, adorned with sequins that shimmered under the lights. Her upper half was a pink, off-the-shoulder top. Her chest was particularly well-developed, forming a stark, cruel contrast with Sona Sitri.
Her long black hair was tied into twin tails with pink ribbons, and she wore a pink hat resembling a nurse's cap. Her arms were encased in black lace sleeves, while her slender legs were clad in red-and-black patterned tights. In her right hand, she gripped a magical wand topped with a star decoration.
Though Asia called it a cosplay of a magical girl anime, Rhodes could sense that the wand was the real deal. He checked his system panel.
[Serafall Leviathan]
Rias, finally getting a clear look at the newcomer, widened her eyes. "Eh? Lady Leviathan? What are you doing here?"
She never expected her best friend's older sister to show up.
"Yoo-hoo! Good evening, Little Rias! Actually, it's not just me; your brother came along too! ~~~"
Serafall waved a greeting to Rias before dropping a truth bomb that made Rias's composure crumble instantly. Stiffly, Rias turned her head to see a young man with long, deep-crimson hair and handsome features standing by the door, watching her with a warm smile.
"Good evening, Rias. Your brother decided to pay you a surprise visit."
"It's been a long time. How have you been? Looking at your face, you seem a bit thinner than before."
Rhodes' system identified the man as [Sirzechs Lucifer]. He was dressed in a sharp black suit, tall and imposing—handsomer than any global superstar, though still a notch below Rhodes himself, of course.
"Brother? No... why are you here today?! I didn't receive any notification!" Rias's voice trembled with shock.
"Think of it as an incognito inspection. Besides, this is my cute little sister's territory; as your elder brother, I naturally had to come by," Sirzechs said with a chuckle.
Meanwhile, seeing the arrival of two such heavyweights, Rias's entire peerage lost their appetite. They all stood up, their bodies stiff with tension. Even if their master was Rias, they didn't get to see a Satan every day.
"Lord Lucifer!"
"Lady Leviathan!"
Seeing their reaction, Sirzechs waved his hand genially. "Don't be so formal. I'm here today simply as Rias's brother. For now, my name is Sirzechs Gremory, not Lucifer."
As he spoke, the smile on Sirzechs's face brightened. It was clear he was genuinely happy to be able to use his original surname again.
