Most returned to his shabby house in a state of excitement. The house was old and worn down, yet it was everything his parents had left behind. After so many misfortunes, the savings of his family were almost completely gone. It would probably not be long before Most was expelled from Moonlight High School.
Most scanned his fingerprint and slammed the door shut. He immediately jumped onto the bed and sank deep into his consciousness. His awareness began to connect with his Destiny Card and summon its projection into reality.
The Memory energy within his body was activated. A small white card formed in the palm of his hand. Most threw it toward the empty space in the room. The card instantly transformed into a small skeleton about one meter tall. Its bony frame looked extremely fragile. In its hands it held a rusty iron sword and a small round shield.
"It looks pretty pathetic."
Most sighed and shook his head. At first glance this Skeleton did not appear special at all. Like every other White rank monster, it would probably vanish after a single strike. He left it standing there and began rummaging through the room for something.
Before long Most pulled out a small square wooden box from a dusty cabinet. He gently stroked the wooden box with a heavy expression. Inside were the cards his parents had saved.
All the cards inside were unlinked cards.
There were eight in total.
Seven were white cards.
Only one was a green card. "Wind Wolf."
When monsters were defeated there was a chance they would drop a Memory Orb, which contained a card. However the drop rate of Memory Orbs was extremely low, and most of the cards obtained were weak White rank cards.
The stronger the monster, the higher the probability of obtaining a better card. But the increase was only slight.
Most did not hesitate. He threw all the white cards toward the Skeleton.
The black flame within its eye sockets suddenly flared violently. The white cards were instantly engulfed by the flame and turned into tiny specks of light that flowed into Most's body.
"Are these Enhancement Points?"
Most could clearly sense the lights floating within the space of his consciousness. Seven points of light slowly revolved around the white card like planets orbiting a sun.
With a single thought, Most guided the lights to slowly merge with the white card.
The moment the lights fully fused into the card, the Skeleton outside began to tremble violently.
Its body seemed to grow slightly larger. The bones became thicker and sturdier. From a fragile skeleton barely one meter tall, it quickly grew to around one meter twenty. Some of the rust on its sword even peeled away.
Overall the Skeleton had clearly become far stronger than before.
Most began breathing rapidly. He had predicted that Sol's ability was powerful, but he had never imagined it would be this heaven defying.
His instincts told him something astonishing.
Sol might be able to break through the natural quality limit of its card.
Perhaps with just a few more Enhancement Points, Sol could evolve into a Green rank card.
Green cards were completely different from White cards because they possessed Skills.
Skills allowed summoned monsters to unleash attacks with tremendous destructive power, sometimes accompanied by special effects.
"If I gather enough Enhancement Points, could Sol evolve into a Purple card? No… maybe even a Legendary Orange card."
Most tried to suppress the excitement in his mind. He had to keep this secret.
Outside there were still enemies constantly watching him.
He absolutely could not let this secret be exposed. Otherwise his fate would not be any different from that of his parents.
"I need to find a way to obtain more White cards."
After the Awakening ceremony there would be a trial for Candidate Card Masters.
They would be sent into a low level spatial gate to hunt monsters and collect points.
The top ten contestants would receive a low grade Memory Orb.
The top three would receive an additional mid grade Memory Orb.
The champion would also receive an exceptional Green card directly.
This was the opportunity for Most to quickly gather enough Enhancement Points.
Moreover there was still another ability of Sol that he had not yet tested.
Pushing aside all distracting thoughts, Most recalled Sol back into its card and quickly entered a cultivation state.
Memory energy was called Memo.
Through the Destiny Card, a Card Master could absorb Memo to strengthen their own body. Only when the body of a Card Master was strong enough could they integrate more cards to complete their Deck.
Just as he expected, the conversion rate of Memo from a White card was extremely low.
After an entire night of cultivation, the Memo within his body barely increased.
At this rate he would never reach level ten before the time of enlistment.
"I must achieve a high ranking in the upcoming trial. Besides Memory Orbs, the rewards also include Energy Orbs. Those can help me level up quickly."
…
A sleepless night left Most exhausted. As usual he still carried his books to school to continue learning.
Moonlight was the only school willing to accept him. In order to do so, the principal had certainly endured tremendous pressure. Most was deeply grateful to him.
That was why, despite enduring countless insults and ridicule, Most had never missed a single class.
"All of you students have already awakened. Therefore today we will learn about the concept of Deck."
Standing on the platform was a middle aged female teacher. She was a rank D Card Master with a Plant Deck, focused mainly on support and defense.
"Deck is the foundation of a Card Master. A Deck consists of five cards forming a combination. Every ten levels you may link one additional card besides your Destiny Card."
"Each of you will have a unique Deck that no one else possesses. When you reach level ten you must use an Appraisal Crystal to discover the formation condition of your Deck."
"You should remember this. If your Destiny Card is weak, Deck appraisal is your second chance to stand out. A powerful Deck can even allow you to challenge opponents above your level."
As she finished speaking, the teacher suddenly clenched her fist. A strange light flickered in her eyes as the Memo energy within her body surged outward.
The energy transformed into countless bushes and flowers that spread across the classroom.
A refreshing and pleasant atmosphere radiated from the plants. Some students curiously touched the bushes. Surprisingly, although they looked fragile, they were as tough as steel.
"This is my Deck ability."
"Deck: Heart of the Forest."
"As long as my Destiny Card is not destroyed, every my summoned beast within this area will continuously receive the effect Recovery."
The teacher waved her hand and withdrew the Deck effect. The classroom quickly returned to normal.
"Teacher, I have a question."
A chubby young boy raised his hand. As he spoke, his gaze kept drifting toward Most, who sat silently in the corner. His face was full of contempt.
"Although Deck appraisal can produce powerful abilities, it still depends greatly on the Destiny Card. That means if the Destiny Card is too useless, the Deck will not be much better either. Am I correct, teacher?"
"Hahaha. Bota is right. Some kinds of trash will never rise in their entire life. Dreaming of obtaining a powerful Deck?"
Another young man spoke mockingly.
Even inside the classroom he showed little respect toward the teacher. His background was extremely powerful, and no one dared to oppose him.
He was none other than Voga, the second son of the Maxwell family, the ruling family of Star City.
Bota secretly rejoiced, once again receiving an approving glance from Voga. Bota was like a loyal dog, always doing everything he could to please Voga.
Although he had awakened, he was only a White Card holder. However, his card was "Gray Wolf," a card considered exceptionally outstanding among the white-tier cards. Bota's "Gray Wolf" could easily destroy Most's Skeleton.
"Lord Voga speaks wisely. Trash cards like Skeleton are not even worthy of being called garbage. I heard that someone in this class awakened such a pathetic card. Hahaha. Like father like son."
Most tried to remain calm. He had long grown used to humiliation.
But whenever his parents were mentioned, a nameless rage surged uncontrollably within him.
"Trash? Are you talking about yourself?"
The entire classroom suddenly fell silent.
Most's reaction shocked everyone. In their impression, Most had always been quiet and timid. Hearing him talk back was something completely new.
"How brave. What made you so brave? That garbage White card of yours?"
"You keep calling others trash. Have you ever looked at yourself?"
Most suddenly stood up. He pointed directly at Bota and said something that shocked the entire classroom.
"If you have the guts, let's have a battle."
