Without hesitation, Darren dove in after him.
The water rippled violently as Darren's strong arms found Finn beneath the surface. He wrapped an arm firmly around Finn's chest, anchoring him against his body before pulling him upward. With steady strength, he dragged Finn toward the riverbank.
Moments later...
Cough! Cough! Cough!
Finn collapsed onto the edge, gasping violently as water spilled from his lips. His entire body trembled uncontrollably, whether from the cold or lingering fear, even he couldn't tell.
"I almost died…" Finn rasped between coughs, his voice shaking. "I swear...I already saw heaven."
He sucked in a shaky breath before turning his head slightly.
"What are you doing here, Consort Darren?" Finn asked, recognizing him despite his dazed state.
Cough… cough…
"Sorry…" Darren said quietly, his voice lower than usual.
