Jay POV
It had been almost a month.
And for once… nothing had exploded.
No sudden attacks.
No emergency calls.
Just school, training, repeat.
Which honestly made me more suspicious than danger ever did.
CLASS 📚
The teacher was talking.
Nobody was listening.
Normal.
Felix was drawing something that looked like a weapon and a sandwich at the same time.
Ci-n was half asleep.
David was actually paying attention for once.
Yuri looked relaxed, which was rare.
Keifer… was quiet.
Too quiet.
Then the door opened.
Matteo walked in first.
Smiling like he had been planning this moment.
Matilda followed behind him.
Straight posture.
Expression unreadable.
The whole class shifted immediately.
Even Felix stopped breathing for a second.
Matteo raised a stack of envelopes.
"You're all invited."
Someone from the back asked:
"To what?"
Matilda answered without emotion:
"Our 18th birthday party."
For a second… silence.
Then chaos.
Felix immediately leaned forward.
"IS THERE FOOD?"
Ci-n nodded seriously.
"Important question."
David sighed.
"Of course."
Yuri leaned back in his chair.
"Predictable."
Matteo started walking down the aisle handing out invites.
When he reached me, he stopped.
Just slightly.
"You're coming, right?" he asked.
I looked at him.
"That sounded like you already decided."
He smiled.
"I did."
I didn't answer properly.
Just took the invite.
He moved on.
Still smiling.
Matilda stepped forward next.
She didn't say much.
Just handed Keifer his invite directly.
But before she could even release it—
Yuri reached out and took it.
"We don't need it," Yuri said casually. "We'll be there anyway."
Matilda smiled.
Matteo blinked like he wasn't sure what just happened.
Keifer slowly turned his head toward Yuri.
"Did you just..?"
"Yes," Yuri replied.
Felix laughed.
"That was aggressive teamwork."
Matteo continued handing out invites.
But I noticed something.
His eyes kept coming back to me.
Not in a normal way.
Like he was checking something.
Measuring something.
Matilda didn't look at anyone twice.
Except Keifer.
Just once.
Then she moved on.
And then—
they left.
AFTER CLASS 🏫
The moment the door closed—
noise exploded.
Felix:
"WE'RE GOING, RIGHT?!"
Ci-n:
"Free food. Yes."
David:
"That is not a reason."
Ci-n:
"It is MY reason."
Yuri stretched.
"We're going."
Keifer leaned back in his chair, looking at the invite in Yuri's hand.
"This is going to be annoying as usual ," he said.
I folded my arms.
"Probably."
Felix leaned in.
"But it's a party."
"And?" I asked.
"Parties mean drama."
David nodded.
"That part is accurate."
I looked at the invite again.
Something about it felt… too clean.
Too planned.
Matteo doesn't do anything without thinking ahead.
And Matilda doesn't either.
Yuri tossed the invite onto the desk.
"Stop overthinking it."
I looked at him.
"I wasn't saying anything."
"You were thinking it loudly."
Keifer smirked slightly.
"She does that."
I ignored him.
But I didn't argue.
Because I already knew something simple.
This wasn't just a birthday party.
It was something else wrapped in it.
I just didn't know what yet.
