Chapter 110 - Chapter 107: Damage Control

Jay POV

The moment I got home, I went straight upstairs.

No talking.

No stopping.

No explanations.

Just my room.

I dropped my bag onto the floor and immediately saw my phone light up.

📱 Keifer

I didn't even open it.

Another notification.

Then another.

Then another.

I picked up the phone.

Looked at the screen.

Then put it back down.

Face first.

Nope.

Not today.

My hand was still throbbing.

My head hurt.

And I was still annoyed at Rina and Seraphine.

So I grabbed some clothes and headed for the shower.

Twenty minutes later, I came back feeling a little less irritated.

A little.

Not much.

I picked up my phone again.

More messages.

📱 Keifer

Are you home?

📱 Keifer

Did you clean the wound?

📱 Keifer

Jay.

📱 Keifer

Stop ignoring me.

📱 Keifer

You're impossible.

I snorted.

"Says him."

Then I tossed the phone onto the bed.

This time I actually treated my hand properly.

Cotton.

Disinfectant.

Fresh bandages.

The moment the antiseptic touched the cut, I hissed.

"Ow."

The stupid bottle had done more damage than I thought.

And annoyingly...

Keifer had been right.

I stared at the bandage.

"Still not admitting it."

Because admitting it would mean he'd win.

And I wasn't giving him that satisfaction.

😭

I sat down at my desk.

Opened my laptop.

The screen lit up.

Immediately, work mode.

My fingers moved across the keyboard.

Files.

Maps.

Reports.

Camera locations.

Then I called Zane.

The call connected after one ring.

"Boss."

"Delete every CCTV recording near Eman's restaurant."

A pause.

"Already working on it."

"Every camera."

"I know."

"No mistakes."

"Boss."

His voice sounded offended.

"You're talking to a professional."

"A professional who once locked himself out of his own system."

"That happened once."

"Three times."

"We're not counting."

😭

I continued typing.

Names appeared on the screen.

Locations.

Timelines.

Notes.

Zane was quiet for a moment.

Then:

"How's your hand?"

"Fine."

"That's a lie."

"Thank you for your concern."

"You're welcome."

I rolled my eyes.

The keyboard clicked beneath my fingers.

"Anything useful?" I asked.

"Not yet."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning whoever organized today's attack wasn't stupid."

That wasn't good news.

I leaned back slightly.

"Wonderful."

"I know."

We spent another half hour discussing possibilities.

Why now?

Who leaked information?

How much did they know?

None of the answers were satisfying.

Eventually Zane spoke again.

"You know the bigger problem isn't today's attack."

My fingers stopped.

"Then what is?"

"your classmates ."

I didn't answer immediately.

Because I already knew.

They had seen too much.

Heard too much.

Asked too many questions.

And none of them were the type to let things go.

Especially Keifer.

Zane continued.

"They're going to keep asking."

"I know."

"What's the plan?"

I looked at the screen.

Thinking.

Then sighed.

"No plan yet."

"That's concerning."

"Thank you, Zane."

"Always happy to help."

😭

The call ended shortly after.

The room became quiet.

Only the soft hum of my laptop remained.

I reached for my phone.

Mostly to check the time.

But my eyes landed on the unread messages.

Again.

📱 Keifer

I stared at them for a few seconds.

Then locked the screen.

Work first.

Keifer later.

At least...

That was the plan.
