Chapter 25 - Cold Mystery.

"You mean I have telekinesis like Superboy?" Lillian asked in shock. She stretched her hand toward Miles, who had fallen on the bed, and tried to lift him. Her face was filled with struggle. She groaned, and then her eyeballs turned white again. This time, she carried Miles easily without any effort.

"Why are her eyes white?" Tiara asked.

"I don't know. I have never seen anything like this before. But it is said that if any of the Saviors goes to the spirit realm and comes back alive, they will be bestowed a gift," Herakim replied.

"There were other Saviors?" Tiara asked in shock.

"Yes. Two Saviors. Lillian is now the third and final Savior." Herakim grinned.

"Really?!" Lillian exclaimed and sat down on a nearby couch. "Tell me about it. I want to hear everything – from the beginning to the end." She balanced herself as if she knew it would take a long time. The others also found places to sit, anticipating the full story.

"Okay, since you asked, I will tell you." Herakim dragged a chair to the front and sat down.

"Two thousand years ago, before werewolves and vampires came into existence, King Lycan offended Zeus and was cursed to become a werewolf. I was the loyal servant of King Lycan, so I pleaded with Zeus. He said he wouldn't reverse the curse, but he would give us three chances to save ourselves. He also cursed me to live forever as their Herakim until the ones he turned into werewolves are saved.

"He said that if we succeed in protecting our Savior for six months, we would go to war with the vampires. Then, long after the war, we would go to where the curse began. Amoc – spelt backwards is Coma. There, we will find the Heart of the Curse. The Savior will remove it, and we will return to normal beings, making me finally die."

"Wow, that's interesting. I'm still curious though – why are the vampires trying to stop you?"

"You see, Prince Arad, the father of Caspian, became jealous of Zeus and went to war against him. Prince Arad killed most of Zeus's people, and Zeus became furious. He cursed Arad and his household, making them the first vampires and made the oldest in Prince Arad's household, Herakim. Prince Arad went to ask for forgiveness, and Zeus forgave the vampires – but he added a clause.

"Though werewolves wouldn't live as long as vampires, if the vampires killed the three Saviors, or if the three Saviors failed their mission, the vampires would be allowed to take the Heart of the Curse and turn back to humans, while we would remain werewolves. If we succeed, then we do the same.

"It's unfortunate that the first two Saviors were not able to carry the responsibility. If we protect Lillian until the next six full moons, then we will go to war. The side that wins gets to take the Heart of the Curse. The one that loses will be totally destroyed – they will cease to exist. So we must do everything to win."

"The first Savior was a fair, nice Irish thief. She died a few days after being announced as our Savior, killed by the vampires. She went to the spirit realm and never came back."

"The second Savior was an Irish arsonist. She also died a few days after being announced."

"Why the hell are they bad people?" Lillian exclaimed.

"No one knows. All we know is that no one has ever made it this far like you." Herakim said.

Lillian adjusted her clothes, feeling proud of herself.

"Aren't you guys kinda hungry? Because I am," Diana asked, rubbing her stomach.

"Okay, let's go downstairs for breakfast," Hudson announced and led the way. Diana looked excited and relieved.

At the underground lair, the vampires celebrated alongside the were-panthers.

"Aren't we great after all?" Caspian announced, joy all over his face.

"We killed the first Savior, the second Savior, and now the last one is dead. We owe it to Hazel – our very own determined vampire. Too bad she couldn't be here today. But surely, we will honor her by going to her company's anniversary tomorrow. Then, after her company's anniversary, we will all go to Amoc – the land that makes you feel like you're in a coma." Caspian spoke aloud, and they all made a joyful sound.

Back at Hudson's mansion, everyone was seated at the dining table, ready to eat.

"I need all of you guys to dress like top‑notch bodyguards. You look good, but you don't look cool. You're too normal and boring. I don't do boring," Lillian said.

"So, what do we wear to look cool, Mrs. Interesting?" Diana asked sarcastically.

"That's a good question. You just need to wear a black suit that hugs your body. Look serious – like you'd die if anything happens to me." Lillian sipped water from an oval glass cup.

"Wait. Am I going to be part of your bodyguards too?" Gandulf asked, his hands on his chest.

"Of course not. Why would a well‑known billionaire be my bodyguard?" Lillian dropped her glass cup.

A ringing tone from afar sounded through the werewolves' ears.

"That's my phone. I'll go get it," Shawn said and immediately stood up.

He followed the sound and entered the room where Lillian had stayed earlier. He got closer to the phone.

"Oh, it's not my phone." He saw his phone beside the one that rang. He took his phone and was about to leave when he checked the caller ID on the ringing phone.

"Mirabel?" He asked in confusion. "The Mirabel I know?!" He exclaimed happily and picked it up without thinking.Miles's phone rang. He was in the other room, so Shawn picked it up.

"Miles?" Mirabel's voice was weak, barely there.

Shawn frowned. "Mirabel?"

She didn't realize she was speaking to Shawn. She thought it was Miles.

Shawn didn't correct her. He just listened, worried.

Shawn's expression shifted. "Are you… are you okay?"

"I'm at the amusement park. I keep coming here, don't I?" Mirabel chuckled, trying to hide her tears. "I know I disturb you a lot, but you're the only one I can talk to. I…" She groaned, and Shawn's face filled with concern. "I think I am dying. And for some reason, I feel like maybe I should really die."

She cut the call.

"Mirabel? Mirabel?!" Shawn called out, but there was no response. He dropped the phone and rushed downstairs.

He arrived where the others were chatting and laughing. "Miles, where the hell is the amusement park Mirabel usually goes to?" He asked impatiently.

"What? Why? I can't just reveal my sister's location to you." Miles charged back gently but still furious.

"Just—" Shawn shouted, then exhaled to ease his tension. "Just tell me, please."

"Shawn, is something wrong with her?" Miles stood up worriedly.

"I don't know. She said she is dying, and I heard a groan."

Miles exhaled. "How do you know that?" Shawn was about to speak.

"You shouldn't ask that now. Let's go check up on her." Hudson interrupted and they both rushed out.

"I think they need our help," Tiara said and stood up to leave.

"Don't bother. It's probably one of her tricks to get attention again," Lillian said coldly, and Tiara reluctantly sat down.

"She's like the boy who cried wolf – just to get her father's attention because she thinks I stole it from her." Lillian sighed. "She totally ruined the fun, didn't she?" She stood up with an annoyed face.

"Do you really not care what happens to her?" Luna asked gently.

"Yes." Lillian answered sharply and walked away. She doesn't have anything to offer me, so why waste my care on her? She thought without looking back.

---

Moments later, they arrived at an abandoned amusement park.

"Where is she?" Shawn asked, looking around.

"I don't know. She could be anywhere," Miles replied.

"Let's split up. You go there, Miles go to that side, I'll check for her over there." Hudson ordered.

Minutes passed. Shawn finally found her.

Mirabel lay on the floor in pain. Her body looked like it had been peeled and burnt. She groaned in agony.

Shawn saw her body and looked at the sun. Then he suddenly realized something so there he stood, shocked. "You… you're a vampire."

Mirabel struggled to look at him – and passed out.
