Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Fallen Leaves Tell a Story

Such a warm feeling...

It was completely different from the world after death I had imagined. It felt as if I had returned to the embrace of a mother.

Roland, his consciousness drifting in a half-awake, half-dreaming state, couldn't help but think to himself.

It was true—his life in that other world had already come to an end. Though it was tragic, there was nothing he could do about it. As for what exactly was so tragic? Naturally, it was the fact that he had been single for over twenty years, and the "secret stash" on his computer was about to bring him eternal infamy before he had a chance to delete it.

As for family... he'd never had any in his previous life, so he didn't particularly care. He was only slightly concerned about his friends.

Suddenly, a flicker of light appeared in his field of vision, and his consciousness began to fully awaken.

Just as he followed his instincts and prepared to head toward the light, a force from beside him suddenly shoved him aside.

Gaining a bit more awareness, Roland was momentarily dazed, clearly failing to react to what had just happened. He noticed the light go dark for a split second, though fortunately, it reappeared quickly.

Without much hesitation, Roland dove straight for the exit.

"Waa! Waa! Waa!"

Feeling the sudden brightness, Roland was reluctant to open his eyes. At the same time, the rhythmic wails of an infant rang in his ears.

It was only then that he realized he hadn't traveled to the realm of the dead—he had been reincarnated!

Roland struggled to open his eyes, wanting to see his new situation clearly. What greeted him was a magnificent, gold-shimmering room and several maids dressed in ancient Western-style clothing.

Could it be that I've been transmigrated as the son of an ancient Western European noble?

Just as a hint of joy rose in Roland's heart, he suddenly heard voices. The strange part was that although he didn't recognize the language they were speaking, he could perfectly understand their meaning.

"Lady Marika... this..."

Hearing that name, Roland's entire body shuddered as if struck by a realization. He immediately shifted his gaze.

There lay a woman of such ethereal beauty she seemed not of this world, resting quietly upon an immense circular bed. White curtains draped around her. Her face was deathly pale, and in her eyes as she looked at him, there was a flicker of maternal love—but more than that, there was a profound complexity.

There was pain, sorrow, and... hatred.

"Bring them to me."

"...Yes."

After a moment of silence, a maid slowly approached Roland and his sibling. With a look of visible disgust, she wrapped the two of them in silk and picked them up.

Seeing the iconic long-and-short golden braids of the woman called Marika, her inexplicable aura, and then looking at his sibling's grey skin and milky-white horn protrusions...

Roland's heart sank instantly.

Crap! This is a disaster start! I've become Morgott, the Veiled Monarch!

"My children... forgive me..."

Feeling Marika's hand gently caressing his face, Roland looked at his birth mother with a complicated expression.

Queen Marika the Eternal, the Empyrean who represented the Golden Order. Therefore... she could never truly accept the Omen twins, who symbolized the "blessing" of the primordial Crucible—even if they were royalty.

"Lady Marika, the King has arrived."

The doors pushed open, and a towering figure with heavy footsteps slowly approached Marika's side.

"Are these my children?"

Roland looked up. A sturdy, majestic man with a mane of white hair was looking down at the two of them with kindness. Behind him followed a massive, spectral lion.

The lion was also observing the two brothers with a gaze full of ancient wisdom.

"My King, please give them names," Marika said, reluctantly averting her gaze from Roland and his brother to look at Godfrey.

"Hmm..."

Godfrey fell silent for a moment, then reached out to take the two infants. Sensing the power contained within their bodies, he couldn't help but throw his head back and let out a hearty laugh.

"Since you are the elder, you shall inherit my—"

"My King."

Just as Godfrey was about to speak, Marika's golden eyes fixed on him, offering a quiet reminder.

Godfrey's laughter came to an abrupt halt.

"His name shall be Morgott. And he shall be Mohg."

Hearing the names, Roland instinctively nodded, thinking everything was fine—but then it hit him.

Wait, shouldn't I be the elder brother named Morgott? Why is my bratty brother being called Morgott?! That's not right!

No, it was impossible for these two to make a mistake... and besides...

Roland suddenly remembered that dark shadow that had shoved him aside earlier.

Damn it! I'm the spare! I'm Mohg—the CEO of the Blood Dynasty?!

Hell no! I don't want that "femboy" Miquella coming after my backside!!

"They possess the blessing of the primordial Crucible, and I have never seen such a potent blessing... they are special, with great power flowing through their veins," Godfrey said after watching them for a long time, eventually setting them down.

"But alas... this is no longer the primordial era."

Marika pulled the two brothers into her embrace and adjusted her clothing to nurse them.

(Specific details omitted; please use your imagination.)

Although Roland felt a sense of shame, he chose to follow his instincts. After all, he was hungry.

"What does the King intend to do?"

"We shall raise them in secret for a time. And... seal off all news. No information regarding this room is to be leaked!"

The moment the words left his mouth, a terrifyingly powerful aura erupted from Godfrey. His tiger-like eyes swept over everyone present. The maids trembled in fear. Just as the head maid was about to speak—

Several whistles of air cut through the room. Dark shadows suddenly appeared behind the remaining maids, followed by the thick, metallic scent of blood spreading through the air.

Without a moment's hesitation, these assassins used their daggers to slit the throats of every maid in the room.

Roland saw it all. However, it was within his expectations. After all, in the days to come, the Omen twins of the royal family would be nothing more than a whispered rumor.

This meant... Godfrey and Marika had largely suppressed the truth of this event. As for why they were eventually exiled to the sewers?

Roland guessed that the nobles of the Golden Lineage eventually found out. To maintain the so-called Golden Order and the reputation of the royal family—combined with Marika's own silent complicity—the brothers were eventually cast away.

In other words... before he was thrown into the sewers, he would at least have a period of "the good life."

But the thought of being tossed down there eventually made Roland feel a wave of gloom. After all... he'd have to share a space with a freak like the Dung Eater. How tragic!

For now, Roland accepted his identity. Life was like a certain "act"—if you can't resist, you might as well lie back.

(From this point forward, he shall be referred to as Mohg, the "CEO.")
