Chapter 2 - An Unexpected Proposal

Jeigan stepped inside the massive hall and looked around in amazement.

"Wow… this hall is huge," he whispered. "And there are so many students here… it looks like students from every year are gathered together."

He looked around again, confused.

"Wait… where did Jinha go?"

Suddenly a familiar voice called out from across the hall.

"Jeigan! Jeigan! Over here!"

Jeigan turned and saw Jinha waving her hand.

"Hurry! There are two empty seats here!"

"Coming!" Jeigan replied quickly as he pushed through the crowd.

He finally reached her row.

Jinha pointed at the seats.

"You sit in this one. I'll sit here."

"Okay," Jeigan said as he sat down.

For a moment, he looked around nervously.

Jinha noticed his expression and smiled slightly.

"You're nervous, aren't you?"

Jeigan scratched the back of his head.

"Yeah… a little."

Jinha chuckled softly.

"Don't worry. It's normal during the first few days of university. After some time, everything will start to feel comfortable."

Jeigan nodded.

"You're right."

Jinha leaned slightly closer and spoke kindly.

"And if you ever need help with anything, just tell me. Okay?"

Jeigan smiled.

"Thank you for taking care of me so much. And if you ever need help too, just let me know."

"Of course," Jinha replied with a bright smile.

Just then, the sound of footsteps approached.

A girl stopped in front of them with a playful smirk.

"Well, well… Jinha."

She looked at Jeigan from head to toe.

"So you already found yourself a new boyfriend? I have to admit… you have pretty good taste."

Jinha's eyes widened.

"What are you talking about?!"

Jeigan quickly raised his hand slightly.

"Excuse me, miss. I think you misunderstood something."

He spoke calmly.

"We're not a couple. I'm new to this university, and Jinha was just helping guide me around. We're just friends."

Jinha nodded immediately.

"Yes, exactly."

The girl crossed her arms and stared at them for a moment.

"Really? You two aren't dating?"

Then suddenly her expression changed.

A confident smile appeared on her face.

"Well… in that case, you're lucky."

Jeigan blinked in confusion.

"Lucky?"

She flipped her hair confidently.

"Because I'm about to propose to you."

Jeigan froze.

"…What?"

"You heard me," she said proudly. "You're very lucky. I'm choosing you to be my boyfriend."

Jinha's eyes widened in shock.

Inside her mind, a strange feeling suddenly appeared.

Wait… she wants him to be her boyfriend?

Why does that bother me…?

I just met him today…

So why do I feel uncomfortable thinking about it?

She looked at the girl again.

Jeigan will probably accept her… she's beautiful after all.

Why am I even thinking about this?

Meanwhile, Jeigan spoke calmly.

"I'm sorry, miss… but I can't accept that."

The girl blinked.

"…What?"

Jeigan continued politely.

"You see, I haven't accepted anything yet. And honestly, I can't accept your proposal."

The girl frowned slightly.

"You're rejecting me?"

She pointed at herself.

"Do you even realize how lucky you are? I'm offering to be your girlfriend."

She leaned closer.

"And you shouldn't call me 'miss.' My name is Suire. You can call me by my name."

Jeigan nodded politely.

"Alright then… Suire."

He took a calm breath.

"But my answer is still no."

Suire's expression stiffened.

"I can't accept your proposal. I'm sure you'll find someone much better than me."

He bowed his head slightly.

"But thank you for proposing."

Jinha's thoughts immediately exploded with excitement.

Yes! Good job, Jeigan!

Wait… why am I happy about that?

Am I going crazy? Why am I thinking like this…?

Why would I feel relieved when someone gets rejected…?

She covered her mouth slightly, embarrassed by her own thoughts.

Meanwhile, Suire's face turned red with anger.

"WHAT?!"

"You rejected me?"

She glared at him.

"Do you know how beautiful I am? No one has ever rejected me before!"

She leaned closer and lowered her voice.

"You're making a mistake."

"I can give you anything. Money, luxury… I can fulfill all your desires."

She smirked confidently.

"Are you still going to reject me?"

Jeigan looked at her calmly.

"Yes."

Suire's eyes narrowed.

"Why?"

Jeigan shrugged slightly.

"Because I'm not interested in those things."

He paused for a moment.

"And if we're talking about desires… I only have one."

Suire crossed her arms.

"Oh really?"

"And what exactly is that desire?"
